Freezerpick ¦ Unfreeze your operation Maximum productivity for storing and picking frozen products The Solution Design In response to recurring labor, efficiency and quality issues in warehousing, Swisslog has developed a materials handling solution to meet both the current and future requirements of deep-freeze warehouses. Ergonomical Picking Ensures Maximum Productivity At the heart of FreezerPick is the ergonomic goods-to-person picking station. This concept allows picking to be moved out of the freezer into a chilled environment and creates optimized working conditions for picking operators. FreezerPick is highly scalable and flexible in operation, allowing it to be tailored to each customer’s specific requirements design ¦ develop ¦ DELIVER 06.2.wds-1-2014-1-EN FreezerPick: How the Solution Design Works FreezerPick is an innovative picking system for frozen products that shifts the manual picking process from the deep-freeze warehouse to a chilled area. The subsystems are connected through material flow control and warehouse management software. It is the intelligent way the systems are interlinked that creates an efficient picking solution. Pallet storage 1. 2a. 2b. 1. Pallets are identified in receiving. 2. A monorail system transports the pallets to the automated high-bay storage area where they are placed into stock. Miniload buffer storage 3a. 3b. 3c. 4. 3. Pallets removed from the high-bay storage area are separated by fully automated de-palletizer robots. 4. The cartons or cases are then put away in a miniload buffer storage. Picking 5a. 5b. 6a. 6b. 7. 5. When removing goods from storage, sequencing algorithms guarantee that cases arrive at each picking station in product groups or in retail store shelf sequence. 6. The ergonomically optimized goods-to-person picking stations are located outside the freezer area in a chilled environment (4-10°C). Picking can also be automated. Since retail store pallets and roll cages are lowered back into the freezer area (-28°C) straight after picking, the goods to be picked only stay in the chilled area for a few minutes, thus complying with all cold-chain regulations. 7. The custom-picked retail store pallets and roll cages are wrapped, labeled and prepared for transport.
