We were greeted upon arrival by Reka,
the lovely guest relations manager,
who immediately took us to see the
breathtaking view of the Mandapa village. Wow. The village seemed as if it
had sprouted right out of the rice paddies, blending evenly with the natural
surroundings. Our butler Rei then took
us in a buggy to our Reserve Suite, and
after I finished talking with my wife in
Japanese, Rei apologized and started

Another kind of soup in Makassar. The
broth enriched with the crust of fried
coconut (serundeng). To add more
deliciousness of this soup you may add
the fresh egg yolk on top of the soup.
Yummy.

CAFE ARAS
Jl. A. Mappanyuki 64,
Rantepao, South Sulawesi,
This restaurant is nicely decorated
and a hang out for the cool people of
Rantepao. There is a decent selection
of Torajan and Western food which is
quite okay. You probably will not find
much better food in town but that is
only because of the low standard in
the whole town. The staff was more
or less friendly. If you are unlucky the
restaurant will be completely occupied
by tour groups (happened twice) and
in that case you have no chance to

SUMATRA
The island of Sumatra is in western Indonesia and home to over 50 million people. Mountains,
volcanoes, rivers, mangroves, and swamps all combine to make Sumatra a stinning wilderness
waiting to be discovered. Sumatra is often referred to as ‘The Africa of Asia’ due to its
abundant natural attractions.
HIGHLIGHTS
Aceh
Home to many beaches,
national parks and the
Orang-utan Rehabilitation
Centre.
Lake Toba
Often referred to as
one of the world’s best
natural wonders.
Lampuuk and
Lhoknga Beaches
Quiet and perfect
for surfing
and swimming.
ACEH
Aceh is home to many beaches, national
parks and the Orang-utan Rehabilitation
Centre (one of the largest of its kind). Take
a trek to Lhok Mata-le Bay, surrounded
by rainforests. Visit the Central Pasar for
unique market stalls, or take an emotional
trip to the Tsunami Museum and the ‘Thanks
to the World’ tsunami monument.
LAKE TOBA
Located in central Sumatra, Lake Toba is
100 km long and 30 km wide and described
as not only a lake, but a ‘super volcano.’
Often referred to as one of the world’s best
natural wonders, Lake Toba is more like an
ocean, perfect for reflection and relaxation.
Hike, swim or sail the lake, or explore the
island of Samosir in the middle of the lake
complete with waterfalls and water buffalo.
Enjoy local Batak hospitality or sample the
local palm wine.
LAMPUUK AND LHOKNGA BEACHES
17 km from the township of Banda Aceh
lie the beautiful beaches of Lampuuk and
Lhoknga. Both beaches are quiet and
perfect for surfing and swimming. Fresh
fish barbecues are one of the highlights of
the beaches, where the fish are fresh and
plentiful. Explore the cliffs near Lampuuk
where you’ll find a beautiful tropical forest.
Lhoknga beach is perfect for exploring
great local street food.

FREDDIES SANTAI

Just confirming my cousin's review
from couple weeks ago. Magical place
and a great customer service by Freddie. Mind blowing dinner experience,
we could stay there for weeks but
had to check other places out. I had
a scooter accident a day before we
arrived, my leg was badly scratched
and Freddie helped me without even
asking for his help. Truly the highlight
of our month trip to Indo! Martin &

ECOTRAVEL COTTAGES
BUKIT LAWANG
My girlfriend and I stayed for 5 nights
at Eco Travel (including the 3 day
Jungle Trek) and it was an amazing experience. The rooms are beautiful, the
hotel itself has stunning views and and
nothing beats having breakfast over
looking the jungle. The staff is also
amazing and the guides who take you
into the jungle (we had Adi and Ino)
are knowledgeable, responsible, and
have above all else a respect for the
wildlife and plant life of the jungle....

The best place if you want to buy and
bring it home to your city or country,
because they could packed it well and
vacuum it so it will long last during the
trip. They also provide convenience
packaging ranging from 2 kg up to 10

you are in doubt which one to choose,
just buy this small pempek combination, it has everything in it and it is
very suitable for a gift.
