Jewish Film Series: The Outrageous Sofie Tucker The rags to riches documentary of “The Last of the Red Hot Mamas”, Sophie Tucker, who was a popular entertainer in America during the first half of the 20th century. She ruled the worlds of vaudeville, Broadway, television and Hollywood and was the first woman to infatuate her audiences with her bold, bawdy and brassy style unlike any other. Hear the stories of men who served in the branch of service with the highest mortality rate during the first years of war. Alan Feinberg, the film producer, will introduce the film and answer questions. 60 minutes The Jewish Film Series was co-founded by Carol N. Hirsh & Margery Gootnickʤʿʲ in 2009. The first full film series was presented to Chautauqua audiences in the 2010 Season. This Season’s films were curated and previewed by Carol Hirsh & Elliot Fix.
