Hoodlem Biography
Today we introduce you to Hoodlem, a new local act from inner-city Melbourne.
Hoodlem is an anonymous project blending pulsing experimental beats, soulful
vocals and crisp production.
Hoodlem have been gathering momentum at quiet-yet-urgent pace worldwide
typified by captivating production and as they weave soulful melodies.
The
necessary comparisons have been drawn, and at time where male vocalists dominate
the electronic soul genre Hoodlem stems from the same vein and creates
anticipation of something new and mysterious.
Things don’t appear to be slowing down for mysterious act, following on from a
North American tour in May last year, Hoodlem were included in MSMR’s Track
Addict Mixtape series Vol IV, the buzz around mysterious act’s experimental beats
and soulful vocals is proving to be long lasting.
In the second half of 2014, Hoodlem debuted in Europe supporting ambient
electronic group Rat & Co with shows in the UK, France, Germany, Netherlands and
returned to the USA to perform shows at the CMJ Music Marathon including the
ASCAP and Neon Gold, National Anthem, Chess Club parties. In November a
collaboration with Swedish artist Tobtok, ‘Free’ was released through French label
Kitsuné
With a track record of solid singles and critical intrigue, Hoodlem are gearing up for
the release of their debut EP. But we’re not going to tell you much more, nor reveal
who Hoodlem actually is… but nudge you in the direction of your headphones…
