First, we are preparing to begin an upgrade of the Ladies Locker Room at the Golf Club in addition to replacing the carpet and dining furniture. This is a much needed enhancement and should help us bridge the gap on major renovation work for the Golf Club facility until a more comprehensive approach can be considered in the future which is described in our Master Facilities Plan. We have contracted for the restroom replacements on the East and South Courses which will be built to the same specifications as the restroom on the West Course that opened in March. This work will begin this month and is scheduled to be ready in late October. Summer Camp Participants Sunputters Closing Day August 14 • 8:30 Shotgun Make your own Foursome I was driving a golf cart back from the Beach Club after visiting with a few members on the Oasis Deck when it struck me just how lucky we all are here at Sawgrass. Everywhere you look there is something really good happening. Here in the Golf Shop, we were busy preparing for The First Tee Outing Fund Raiser. The First Tee support by the club membership has been phenomenal! It was a great day for the game of golf as we had over 180 individuals including members, guests, children and their parents participate in the day’s activities. The First Tee organization touches over 750 participants here in North Florida. In 2012, Sawgrass Country Club was the first private club in the United States to hold a fund raising event. Since then, several clubs around the country have followed our lead. I personally want to thank this year’s Tournament Committee consisting of Lisa Williamson, John and Samantha Brantley, Joe Braunstein, Rob Kearney, Doug Moody, and Bill Newton. They have helped Stefan Brunt put together another fantastic event. What brought us close to The First Tee are the “Nine Core Values” that are taught: Courtesy, Judgment, Honesty, Integrity, Sportsmanship, Perseverance, Responsibility, Confidence, and Respect. It’s an outstanding set of principles that serve as a reminder to all that is good. All of us on the Committee want to thank Sawgrass Country Club, our members, and guests for making it another special day to remember.
