ATV/Dirt Biking Know the rules before you ride. • It is illegal to operate an ATV without a securely fastened helmet. • Riders must obey the posted speed limits. If there is no speed limit posted in designated riding areas, riders must not ride in excess of 25 miles per hour. • Riding is allowed only on designated and posted roads, trails, or other areas. • All Pennsylvania ATV’s must be registered with the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR). • This is the signage DCNR uses to designate an ATV area. • ATV’s owned by nonresidents must be covered by a valid registration in their state, province or country that honors Pennsylvania registration. (reciprocating registration) Riding on designated State Forest trails is permitted: •S tarting the Friday before Memorial Day through the last full weekend in September and… • Starting the day after the last day of antlerless deer season (regular or extended) through April 1st. Check specific sites as certain locations may have alternate seasons.
