It is fully funded by its members (Active and Associate) and provides a broad range of services designed to benefit its members and the industry. ABOUT US PURPOSE COMMITTEES The RMCAO is governed by a Board of Directors from within the industry, which represents small and large companies reaching all parts of the province. The RMCAO is the voice and resource of the concrete and construction industries across Ontario. Representing over 96% of all concrete production and manufacturing, the RMCAO continually promotes concrete's sustainable advantages and benefits to society. The RMCAO brings education, technologies, research and innovation to architects, designers, contractors and concrete companies. Associate Members – supporting membership The Association is active in a number of areas of the industry including environmental stewardship, education and training of our clients, new concrete and admixture technologies and ongoing partnerships with many industry partners. GOALS The goals of the association are four fold: 1. Market Development – This includes maintaining and expanding current markets, as well as expansion into new diversified fields. 2. Strategic Partnerships and Industry Influence – The RMCAO works closely with industry leaders and advocates concrete use on behalf of its members in all applications. 3. Business Improvement - Sustainable Practices and Product Development. 4. Administration and Operations - Communicating, following and administering industry and government regulations. To bring issues of sustainability, cost, performance, new technologies and materials to the decision makers that matter, we strategically participate and host events that speak to key stakeholders in our industry: Association of Municipalities Ontario, Ontario Concrete Awards, Concrete Canada, Outdoor Farm Show, Ontario Architects Association, Ontario Good Roads Association, Ontario Road Builders’ Association and Transportation Association of Canada. ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING and CONVENTION Every year in September our active and associate members celebrate the industry and their companies at the RMCAO AGM and Convention for a program of business sessions, keynote speakers, Safety and individual effort awards, social functions and great networking opportunities. It is a time to learn, see and reward people for their efforts and successes. Get the recognition you want and deserve CONCRETE services CONCRETE PAVING Concrete Paving is the largest single market we will ever see. It has wild growth opportunity and it will only happen if the concrete industry works to get it. Its time to change our prime focus from housing – a market without real growth potential – to Municipal paving – one where we can really grow volume! Concrete pavement is the major marketing program of the RMCAO. With staff on board that focus strictly on pavements, major breakthroughs are being seen with the development of supports such as CANPav™ - online pavements comparison tool and Street Smart – pavements life cycle cost report. Work is being done with Municipal Engineers and Councils, Consulting Engineers and Contractors to make sure that everyone understands the lower cost and longer life of concrete pavements. Working with and alongside government, allied organizations and within the association itself is key to assisting our members increase market share and their bottom line. Government Relations Committee The concrete industry deals with many different Ministry departments, as there are several separate and distinct issues that impact the industry both on a direct and indirect basis. Promoting best practices and infrastructure investment at all levels of government is of highest priority for the RMCAO, and the Association maintains close affiliations with provincial and municipal government at all levels to monitor any changes and to work effectively for the betterment of its members. Regional Marketing Councils RMCAO is here to engage and to listen! Regional Marketing Councils (RMCs) bring our members together regionally to discuss issues, successes and solutions reaching all private and public sectors within a given community. The Marketing Councils provide an opportunity for members to educate, learn and listen about the most important issues affecting their regional markets, and as a group develop constructive solutions to current issues. Strategic Partnerships Partnering with our allied organizations provides the RMCAO and its members a broader voice and reach to our markets, targets and customers.
