Pueblo de dios
loves camp!
Pueblo de Dios (People, or Community,
of God) is a new ministry under
development in the South Dakota
synod of the ELCA, whose primary
focus is reaching out to the Latino
community of Sioux Falls. Pueblo
de Dios is being “birthed” with love
& support from Augustana Lutheran
Church as two distinct communities
of faith in joint ministry ventures in the
Historic District of central Sioux Falls.
Lead by bilingual Pastor Jeanette
Clark, Pueblo de Dios has many youth
and families looking for experiences
of faith in the world. The youth from
Pueblo de Dios experienced one week
at Joy Ranch, one at NeSoDak, as well
as Day Camp at Augustana Lutheran
in Sioux Falls.
From Pastor Jeanette on their
experience with Day Camp: “Our
kids love camp. The love the games,
the finger fishing, the horses, the
counselors and so much more. Our
youth have been blessed to go to both
Joy Ranch and NeSoDak. This past
summer was our second summer going
to camp, and the kids were eager and
ready for it! In April they started asking
me, ‘How many more weeks until we
go to camp.’”

Thank you Pastor
Jeanette for bringing
the youth of Pueblo de
Dios to camp. Thank
you donors for making
this
possible
by
providing campership
dollars!

Thank YOU for supporting Lutherans Outdoors!
Over $50,00 was raised at this year’s Quilt Auction, including funds from a raffle,
food, craft sales for camperships, and donations given in lieu of quilts – with over
130 expertly crafted wooden items, gorgeous handcrafted quilts, vacation getaways and more. We are grateful for all of the items donated and for the bidders
who purchased them.
Auctioneers Jim Aesoph, Jeff Enquist, Cody Hinkelman, and Josh Wehy
entertained us throughout the auction. What a wonderful way to bring the
summer of 2014 to a close!

songs we love
Thanks to Kevin Stillson, worship
leader at WestSide Lutheran in
Sioux Falls, and member of the
South Dakota Synod staff, this
spring, Lutherans Outdoors in
South Dakota released an album
called Songs We LOve for camps
and congregations. The album is
a collection of songs written by
musicians that are easy to sing and
rooted in Lutheran theology. The
resource also comes with a PDF
songbook for congregational use.
before a good night’s rest.”
Lutherans Outdoors camps are
steeped in great musical tradition.
Many talented artists and musicians
have been resources and staff at
the camps. The music on this album
is to display and share just a small
part of that tradition. This music,
written by Lutheran musicians
from a perspective of grace, is to
upcoming events
be a resource for our camps and
congregations in worship.
So sing and play along, use these
songs in worship, and support our
Lutheran camps and musicians.
We pray this music will inspire your
walk of faith with Christ, wherever
that may be. CDs are available
for purchase on the LO website or
in the Sioux Falls Administrative

Fall into Camp (for children
in 1st-3rd grade and an adult)
October 11-12- 1-2-3
Songs We LOve was recorded by a
group of camp musicians at Pulse
River Studio in Beresford, S.D., and
was engineered by Larry Olson of
Dakota Road. The result is an album
of songs that make you feel like
you’re at camp, singing around a
campfire.

From the album liner notes: “Music
and worship is a large part of what
we do together at camp. We gather
each morning for devotion and song
to start the day. We have morning
worship to hear and see The Word,
sing songs of praise, and gather in
community. We end the day around
a campfire, remembering the day,
praying and singing joyfully together

living In god’s time t-shirts
Thanks to an anonymous generous
gift, we were able to send a t-shirt
home with every youth camper in
attendance during summer camp
2014! As the brightly colored shirts are
seen out in the world, young people
will have the chance to share their
summer story and the Good News
with all they meet.
Keep your eyes peeled for fun
contests on Lutherans Outdoors
Social Media sites for chances to post
pictures wearing your “Living in God’s

charitable gift annuity
A Gift That Continues to Give
This is just what a Charitable Gift Annuity does for you and
our camping ministry. You make a gift of cash or securities to
Lutherans Outdoors in South Dakota, and that gift provides you
with a guaranteed annual payment for the rest of your life.
Your gift continues to give even after death. When you make your
gift, you can designate Lutherans Outdoors as a ministry that
will receive the remaining portion of your annuity at the end of
your life. You not only enjoy the giving of a gift, but also receive
significant financial and tax savings.
Charitable Gift Annuity rates are very attractive, especially when
compared to CD rates. The following are illustrations of the gift
annuity rates at different ages (one-life rates):
Example: A person, age 65, receives 4.7%
Example: A person, age 70, receives 5.1%
Example: A person, age 75, receives 5.8%
Example: A person, age 80, receives 6.8%
Example: A person, age 86, receives 8.0%
For a free gift annuity analysis, which shows the exact payout
rate, the amount of tax-free income, and the income tax deduction
amount, please complete the card below and return it to Lutherans
Outdoors. You may also contact Karen Kraus at LO directly by
calling 605-274-5326; or toll-free at 800-888-1464.
