Comprehensive Mineral Supplement
Accelerator is a balanced daily

The Vitamins
Accelerator provides all the recognised
water and fat-soluble vitamins, including

thiamine, riboflavin, niacin, vitamins B5

The Minerals
Inadequate levels of trace minerals in
much of today’s hay and grain have led
many experts to recommend balanced
supplementation. Correct balance is
crucial to ensure proper absorption and
utilisation of minerals in the horse’s body.
Accelerator delivers zinc and copper in
the recommended 3:1 ratio, plus iron,
manganese and cobalt, all in chelated
form. (Chelated minerals are more rapidly
and completely absorbed.) Calcium and
phosphorous are supplemented in the
ideal 1.4:1 ratio. The product also contains
magnesium, potassium and sulphur.

The Amino Acids
Accelerator contains fourteen amino
acids, the building blocks of protein. Of
these, lysine and methionine, the two
essential amino acids most lacking in
equine diets, are generously supplied.
Accelerator also supplies high levels
of the branch chain amino acids, valine,
leucine and isoleucine, which are
important in cellular energy release.
Enzymes and Probiotics
The horse’s digestive system works best
when grazing, taking in a light steady flow
of food, the way nature intended. Stallfeeding two to three times a day results
in incomplete digestion and substantial
waste. Accelerator fortifies the digestive
tract with four enzymes, plus a seven
culture direct-fed microbial complex,
called probiotics. Probiotics are beneficial
micro-organisms, which occur naturally in
the hindgut of healthy horses.
Directions for use:
Intensive training or performance or during
breeding, gestation and lactation: 30 g daily.
Mature horses, idle to moderate activity:
25 g to 30 g daily.
Weanlings and yearlings: Start at 15 g daily,
gradually increases according to body

Why use Acculytes?
Acculytes is a superior electrolyte

Lactobacillus Acidophilus and Bifidium
bacteria are natural bacteria found in the
digestive tracts of healthy animals. These
friendly bacteria play a major role in aiding
digestion and reducing excessive gas and
acids.
What is Biotizer?
Biotizer is a blend of lysed Lactobacillus
Acidophilus and Bifidium bacteria in a
palatable carrier with a bacteria count
of approximately 8 billion per ml. The
bacteria are extensively used in both
humans and animals and are produced by
the Agricultural Research Council, Irene,
South Africa.
Which animals need Biotizer?
Biotizer is widely used as a supplement
for horses that need conditioning,
particularly horses with chronic diseases
as well as older horses. Biotizer has
proved invaluable in preparing foals
and yearlings and is also a valuable

Biotizer is a palatable probiotic and can
be used as a regular supplement for the
sporting horse.
What results can be expected?
Weight gain of between 5 kg and 9 kg
per week has been reported in debilitated
horses. One nutritionist advised that
when using Biotizer as a supplement,
concentrates fed may be reduced by
between 10% and 15% without horses
losing condition. This is a cost effective
solution, a 500 ml container will last for
approximately a month.

Stress in equines manifests itself in many
ways. Nervousness, aggression, stubborn
behavior and handling difficulties are a
few of the more common easily identified
problems. It is difficult for horse owners
and veterinarians alike to determine the
sources of stress.
Diet and Stress
It is common knowledge that dietary
deficiencies can cause stress. A
magnesium
deficiency
is
widely
recognised as a source of stress. Thiamine,
essential for the function of neural tissues
and important in the gastrointestinal
function of monogastric animals is widely
used to relieve stress in equines. Although
it is not clear how they function, certain
herbs have been shown to actively
reduce stress. Amino acids, particularly
I-trytophan, which have the effect of
prolonging the viability or increasing the
production of endorphins, are almost

by veterinarians.
Calmequin and Stress
Calmequin contains I-tryptophan, a
high-level thiamine, and magnesium.
It also contains calcium (essential for
effective magnesium absorption) to meet
dietary deficiencies. These, combined
with selected herbs and essential oils,
potentiate the stress-relieving properties.
Directions for use:
Sprinkle 30 g onto the main meal daily,
and mix in well.
After two weeks, the dosage may be
reduced to 15 g daily.

fermentation and resulting stiffness or
azoturia.
What DMG does for your horse
A daily supplement of DMG for high
performance horses assists in producing

What is DMG?
DMG is the popular abbreviation for the
nutrient – Dimethylglycine, which is found
in low levels in many foods. DMG plays a
crucial role in the respiratory cycle of the
cells, transporting oxygen and serving as
a potent methyl donor. This reduces the
formation of lactic acid.

DMG inside the cell
All of the energy available to the horse’s
body comes from a complex chemical
reaction called the ATP cycle. This cycle
occurs within the mitochondria which are
small bodies inside the cells often called
the “powerhouse of the body”. DMG is
used to help transport the oxygen that
breaks down glycogen (blood sugar) to
fuel the ATP cycle.
DMG inside the body
DMG is primarily in the body as a product
of cellular action. Supplementation
makes additional DMG available to
cells throughout the body. DMG is a
water soluble nutrient and is very readily
absorbed. DMG is constantly broken
down as it is used in the mitochondria.
Since this metabolism occurs quickly, it
is recommended that DMG be fed to the
horse twice daily.

Equiflex®
Cartilage supplement
Equiflex is a patented advanced formula
supplement used to assist with the
treatment of a variety of joint conditions.
This product combines the properties of
chondroitin sulphate and glucosamine
sulphate, the building blocks of cartilage,
with that of ultra pure MSM, which
stabilizes physiological stresses in the
body.
Glucosamine is one of the biological
substances which constitutes part of all the
major cushioning ingredients of joint fluids
and surrounding tissues. Glucosamine
and its associated macromolecules help
in the production of healthy synovial fluid
and cartilage.
Chondroitin Sulphate
Chondroitin sulphates are members of
a family of body lubricants. They are
produced naturally in horses, humans,
and other animals. They are of particular

importance as structural and lubricating
agents in cartilage tissue, where they are
produced by cells called chondrocytes.
Reduced synthesis of Chondroitin
sulphate and/ or excessive damage to
joints can lead to deficiencies manifesting
as degenerative joint disease or arthritis.
MSM
MSM is a physiological sulphur which
is important, as a safe supplement
to normalize body functions in a
variety of conditions. There appears
to be a relationship between abnormal
physiological symptoms and low MSM
blood levels in humans. A low level of
MSM has been associated with stress,
organ and tissue malfunction and fatigue.
These malfunctions manifest most
commonly as gastrointestinal upsets,
inflammation of mucous membranes,
allergic reactions, drug hypersensitivity,
inflammatory disorders including arthritis,
muscle cramps, and infections.

Ascorbic

Lysine and methionine (to produce
cysteine) are essential for the production
of the muscle, cartilage and various
other tissues. Deficiency in zinc and
other trace elements slow the synthesis
of glucoanimoglycans and impair the
healing of damaged connective tissue.
By supplementing the normal nutrition
of an animal with Equiflex, the body is
supplied with substances vital for the
holistic approach for the treatment of joint
conditions.
Directions for use:
• Two teaspoons (10 g) twice daily for
six weeks initially, thereafter two
teaspoons once daily.
• Doses may double for horses weighing
over 600 kg or horses hard in training.
• Double maintenance dose for 2-3
days before and after heavy exercise.
• If necessary, a higher dose may be used

Electrolyte Supplement
Because horses are large animals, they
have proportionally more heat producing
mass, and less surface area from which to
radiate heat. They depend on the cooling
power of large quantities of perspiration
to maintain safe internal temperatures.
Unlike human sweat, equine sweat is
hypertonic; it contains higher levels of
electrolytes than blood plasma. The
loss of large quantities of water and
electrolytes means that horses require
serious attention to their water and
electrolyte intake to maintain optimum
fitness during intense work.
Why use Electrolytes?
Horses lose electrolytes daily through
sweat and other excreta. These often do
not get replaced effectively because of
low levels of electrolytes in their daily feed,
incorrect ratios of the various electrolytes
and lack of appetite. This can also lead
to reduce water intake and subsequent
dehydration.

A daily supplement of electrolytes is
necessary for horses prone to dehydration,
under stressful conditions, with medical
disorders, during transportation and other
periods of high performance.

Advanced Formula Calcium Supplement
HEALTHCAL is a calcium, trace element
and vitamin supplement formulated
for lactating mares and young growing
equines. It is also an excellent supportive
treatment for cases of calcium deficiency.
The trace elements are mostly included
either as chelates or organic derivatives
for rapid absorption. It has a well balanced
1.6:1 zinc copper ratio and a 5:1 calcium:
phosphorus ratio.

Directions for use:

Vitamins

Biotin is a vitamin which is essential for
the formation of hooves and hair. A biotin
deficient diet may lead to inferior quality

Minerals
HT20 contains a generous supply of
structural sulphur, the key mineral

Healthtech Lifestyle’s Ultra Pure MSM is
the purest form of dietary methyl sulphonyl
methane, available. It is a natural sulphur
nutrient found in living organisms. MSM
is one of the most bioavailable sources
of sulphur. Sulpur from MSM is used
in the biosynthesis of the amino acids,
methionine and cystine. Cystine plays
a vital role in the biosynthesis of other
sulphur containing molecules such as
coenzyme A and taurine. Methionine and
cystine are also required for optimum
functioning of the ATP cycle, the
fundamental system used by the cells to
produce energy.
MSM supplementation
MSM is found in very small quantities in
milk, most vegetables, fruits and grains,
but is easily lost due to its volatility. The
heat and water processing of feeds and
the drying of hay destroys the MSM
content. Unless the animals diet consists
primarily of raw, fresh grain or forage, it is

Why use Superthrive?
In their natural environment horses feed
on poor quality herbage, consuming
large quantities over a prolonged period.
Cellulose and nutrients are absorbed
through a slow fermentation process
with enzymes and bacteria. Most horses
today are fed relatively large quantities of
concentrate, usually in two or three meals
each day. Research has shown that this
type of feeding usually results in excess
acids, gases and sometimes laminitis,
particularly where the concentrates
contain
high-energy
components.
Superthrive has been formulated to
aid in preventing these side effects and
associated symptoms such as colic.

The amino acids
Typical horse feeds are often deficient
in the essential amino acids, methionine
and lysine, especially where a high
level of production of muscle, blood
and keratin is required. In the USA, the
National Research Council has shown
that typical crude protein only delivers
about 3.5% lysine. Methionine presents a
similar picture. Methionine is vital for the
production of cystine, which is the key
to production of a number of proteins,
including tryptophan, which is important
for the release of endorphins. Superthrive
contains over 25% of high quality amino
acids.
Colloidal clays and antacids
Superthrive contains large quantities
of colloidal clays, which, because they
expand to 10 to 15 times their volume
when wet, tend to slow the passage
of food through the digestive system
thus allowing better digestion. Because

the particles are colloidal they have an
enormous surface area and are able to
remove large quantities of gases and
acids by surface absorption. The calcium
carbonate component of Superthrive is
an effective antacid as well as a source
of calcium.
Superthrive is rich in calcium, magnesium

Arnica and Comfrey
Comfrey is the only known plant source
of Vitamin B12, which is involved in the
biosynthesis of choline and nucleic acids
and plays a significant role in intermediary
metabolism. Comfrey also contains
natural allantoin, an important factor
for cell proliferation, especially after an
injury. Arnica is well known for its ability to
reduce inflammation and bruising, and is
also known to stimulate the production of
white blood cells.
The dose can be increased to a
maximum of 100 g per day, divided into
4 meals.
The product is highly palatable to horses.
Directions for use:
Horses: One measure (25 g) per day.
Ponies and small horses: Mix in a level
tablespoon or two thirds of a measure

appears to be a relationship between
abnormal physiological symptoms and
low MSM blood levels in both humans
and animals. Too low concentration of
MSM has been associated with stress,
organ and tissue malfunction, and fatigue.
These malfunctions manifest most
commonly as gastrointestinal upsets,
inflammation of mucous membranes,
allergic reactions, drug hypersensitivity,

Other ingredients
Ascorbic acid is essential for proteoglycan
and collagen synthesis. Lysine and
methionine (to produce cysteine) is
essential for the production of muscle,

Zinc deficiency slows the synthesis of

healing of damage to connective tissue. By
supplementing the normal nutrition of an
animal with the above listed ingredients,
the body is supplied with substances vital
for a holistic approach to the treatment of

Puppy Formula®
