BLOCK 80, PLOT 15, BASHIRU SHITTU STREET MAGODO GRA, PHASE II, LAGOS. [email protected]; [email protected] www.juilliardacademy.org +2348088851551 Volume 3, Issue 4 08/01/2016 “When love and skill work together expect a masterpiece.” John Ruskin It’s a new term and a New Year; we bless God who strengthened us to sail through the travails of 2015 as we look forward to greater accomplishments in 2016. We are aware of the current economic situation of our dear nation, but when others are saying there is a casting down, we will always declare that there is a lifting up. We operate a divine economy because we serve the one who is the ‘GREAT PROVIDER’. We will always be grateful to God for all He has done for us in this Academy; He has been faithful and will always be. We also thank our parents for the support and trust, and also our students who keep exerting and stretching themselves to excel despite the rigour. This term, we will be running with the theme ‘ENTREPRENEURSHIP’. The focus is, by the end of the term every student and staff of this Academy is expected to have acquired at least one skill. The skills acquired will be presented by each class at the end of the term. ‘It is better for a child to have a skill than to need the skill and not have it’. To excel in the real world, you must be skilled at something and possess the mind of an entrepreneur. Life requires more than the ability to understand a concept, memorise it and reproduce it in an exam and as a school, our commitment is to build a total child. EXTERNAL EXAMINATIONS We are currently working seriously on preparing our Year 9 and 12 students for their external exams. May our efforts be crowned with success. They will be taking WAEC, NECO, JAMB, LAGOS STATE BECE and CHECKPOINT. Kindly ensure they engage in independent study at home and eliminate the use of internet and TV, except it is needed for their school work. We encourage our students to give and also take them on a trip for community service, so that they imbibe the culture of giving, feel the pulse of the less privileged, thank God for what they have and be proud of their achievements. When it’s time to gather items for this programme, kindly Please take a ride with us as we go on in a term where skills are acquired and business minds are created. Happy New Year! We strongly suggest that parents take full advantage of our hostel facilities to enable us work more closely with your children, particularly the ones in grades nine and twelve. Once again, we welcome you to second term. We appreciate your love, support and constructive criticisms. We welcome any ideas that will help us get better. Happy New Year. OSAGIEDE, Samson A NEW YEAR, NEW TERM/WELCOME BACK Happy New Year everyone! We would like to welcome you back to school for the second term; a term full of adventures, surprises and of course, examinations. Students of Juilliard Academy, on behalf of the staff and faculty, I would like to commend you on your reputable behaviour in the last term/year in high hopes that such behaviour will continue this term. The outstanding cooperation between staff and students in the last term had made it quite a satisfactory one. We should nevertheless, give credit to our staff and faculty for aiding our Christmas carol service, making it a memorable and festive occasion. With all the events that took place last term, it is safe to say that this term will be one to look forward to. The Easter break coming up gives us time to unwind and relax. However, the prestigious and ever-so-eventful annual inter-house sports competition will enable us to let out our inner athlete, all this is happening in second term. This is going to be boisterous yet amusing. Brace yourselves for it! Another thing to look forward to this term is the election of prefects. The time to showcase your leadership qualities is now! All the Obamas, it is your time to shine. As your president, I can say it was not easy to get here. Hard-work was inevitable, but it paid off in the long run. I hope my successor will perform as wonderfully as I think I have. It is an honour and a privilege to be in this position and I wish nothing but favour and success to my successor. Dear parents and students, in a nutshell; this is a new term. With it comes new responsibilities, new opportunities and new challenges, both in your academic and personal lives. I wish you the best this term and abundant success and victory in all your endeavours. Have a blessed term!
