READINGS FOR SUNDAY
FOURTEENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
VOL. 32 NO. 27
First Reading: Isaiah 66:10-14c
Isaiah instructs the people of Jerusalem to rejoice, because God
would restore her prosperity. The people will better understand God's
power through their homeland's restoration.
Second Reading: Galatians 6:14-18
Paul describes the sign of the cross of Jesus as all that is significant.
Following the old laws is unimportant. Instead, being baptized in
Christ and adhering to his ideals is what matters most.
Gospel: Luke 10:1-12, 17- 20
Jesus sent forth seventy-two disciples to preach his good news,
telling them "the harvest is rich, but the workers few." He also gave
them detailed instructions on how to act towards the people. Jesus
then reminded them not to be happy because of their power over
evil, but to rejoice in the salvation they would achieve.

HYMN NOTES
"America the Beautiful” is an American patriotic song. The lyrics were
written by Katherine Lee Bates, and the music was composed by
church organist and choirmaster Samuel A. Ward. Bates originally
wrote the words as a poem, "Pikes Peak", first published in the July
4th edition of the church periodical The Congregationalist in 1895. At
that time, the poem was titled "America" for publication. Ward had
originally written the music, "Materna", for the hymn "O Mother dear,
Jerusalem" in 1882, though it was not first published until 1892.
Ward's music combined with the Bates poem was first published in
1910 and titled America the Beautiful. The song is one of the most
popular of the many American patriotic songs.

RCIA-THE RITE OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION OF ADULTS
The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults was restored to the Church after the
Second Vatican Council. It was the practice of the early Church for the first
few centuries. It has been established for those who want to become
Catholics, Catholics who have been baptized but not fully initiated (First
Eucharist and Confirmation) or simply are coming from a different
denomination of Christianity who want to become Catholic. For more
information, please contact the Parish Office.
RCIA – RITE OF ACCEPTANCE AND WELCOME
On July 10th at the 10:45am Mass we will celebrate “The Rite of
Acceptance”. This special rite is used to welcome people into the RCIA
process. The “Rite of Acceptance” into the Order of Catechumens welcomes
those who are preparing for Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist. The rite
starts in the back of the Church to welcome them as the Mass begins. They
are signed by the cross of Christ and affirm their intention to live under the
Cross of Christ. Their formation in God’s Word begins as the Word we hear
proclaimed each week in our assembly is presented to them. You are
important in this celebration and will welcome them into our midst and share
your faith with them.

WELCOME TO OUR PARISH
REV. CRIS DE ASIS
I am Rev. Fr. Cris De Asis. I was
born in the Province of Capiz,
Philippines on 23rd of December
1988. I am the seventh among the
nine children of Mr. and Mrs. Samson
and Merlinda De Asis who were both
farmers. Our parents had taught us
two important things in life; first, to
trust always in the grace God and
secondly, to study hard because as
they would always say, “Education is
the only thing that we could gave you
as inheritance for we never have
silver nor gold.”
My vocation to the priesthood started when St. Blaise Chaplaincy
was established in our Barangay. I was first year high school then,
and we were the first batch of Altar Servers. We would sleep at the
rectory with the pastor as our cook. He was a really a good pastor
and he inspired us to enter the seminary. Among the twelve Altar
Servers, four of us went to study at the seminary after high school.
My life in the seminary is all but grace. Many would say that to
study in the seminary is quite expensive and tough but my parents
believed that if it is the will of God for me then He will help me. And it
was so! I graduated my Philosophy and Theology years in the
seminary almost free not even knowing who were the ones paying for
me. I believe that God knows how to thank them more.
I was ordained to the priesthood last May 21, 2015. Immediately
after the ordination rites, the Archbishop publicly announced that I
will not be assigned in the parish instead I will be sent to Rome to get
a Licentiate in Sacred Scriptures at the Pontificio Istituto Biblico so
that after I graduate I could teach in our archdiocesan seminary.
This summer, I am so blessed to have been invited by Msgr.
Jeffrey Conway to help in St. Patrick’s Church. This is my first time in
the United States and my first parish pastoral assignment as a priest.
I am so eager to share my priesthood with you and also with your
help and prayers make it grow. May God bless us all.
