PRESCHOOL
As the nation’s leader in early child care education
the YMCA’s early learning programs offer readiness
opportunities and comprehensive child development
experiences to enhance your child’s first learning.
Using academic, cultural, and linguistic approaches
to teaching, each child’s growth and development is
supported by following the NJ State Teaching and
Learning Standards. Early learning programming at
the YMCA lays a foundation for future and ongoing
achievement and success. Our professionally
trained staff will provide a nurturing and academic
environment, encouraging each child to develop to
their fullest potential.
In the Metuchen YMCA Preschool every child is treated as
an individual, learning through hands-on activies in an age
appropriate environment. Our center utilizes the Creative
Curriculum to create purposeful and productive experiences that help children grow in all areas of development
and follows the CATCH program to incorporate healthy
habits of physical fitness and good nutritional choices as
part of our program. The Preschool includes a swim and
gym portion; therefore each child must be toilet trained
and able to dress with minimal assistance.

LIVESTRONG® AT THE YMCA CHANGE TODAY FOR
A HEALTHIER FUTURE
Diabetes Prevention Program
Cancer is a life-changing disease that takes a
tremendous physical and emotional toll on those
affected. The YMCA and Livestrong have joined
together to create LIVESTRONG® AT THE YMCA, a
physical activity and well-being program designed to
help adult cancer survivors reclaim their total health.
Participants work with YMCA staff trained in
supportive cancer care to safely achieve their goals
such as increased strength, balance, flexibility and
endurance and improving confidence and self esteem.
By focusing on the whole person and not the disease,
LIVESTRONG® AT THE YMCA is helping people move
beyond cancer in spirit, mind and body.
We offer a 12 week program that consists of an
exercise program and a support group. This program is
free to cancer survivors and will include a 12 week Full

Diabetes Prevention Program can reduce the
number of cases of type 2 diabetes by 58%.
ABOUT THE PROGRAM
In a classroom setting, a trained lifestyle coach
will help facilitate a small group of participants in
learning about healthier eating, physical activity
and other behavior changes over a 12-month
period, beginning with 16 weekly one-hour
sessions followed by monthly maintenance for
added support to help them maintain their
progress.
