Base Preparation
Slab Base
As with any structure it is important to provide a firm, level and
square base for your new garden building. Without a suitable
base your building will be unstable and deteriorate rapidly. Base
preparation need not be elaborate and two simple alternate
methods are suggested below. Other materials can be employed,
whatever method you choose, it is important that the end result is
above all firm, level and square.
Providing the proposed site is not subject to regular flooding, your
new building can be set directly onto a concrete pad or slabbed
area. If laying slabs, firm up the sub-surface and bed slabs into
sand, gravel or sand and cement dry mix.
Floor Bearers
Treated timber or concrete floor bearers laid across the run of the
flooring joists provide a simple alternative to a paved base. Level
the overall area, removing turf or other vegetable matter. Then lay
bearers one at each end and equally spaced between ensuring
that each bearer is level to the next by using a spirit level.
Sizes
All the sizes shown in the brochure are base sizes and do not
include roof overhangs. Please allow extra for these when
measuring for your building. All sizes are approximate and all
timber dimensions are nominal before machining.

* Tongued and grooved = 12mm approximately after machining.
* Log Lap = 16mm approximately after machining.

We are still a family run local business that
specialise in quality Sheds, Summerhouses and
Playhouses with our own on-site manufacturing
workshops. Many types, sizes of garden buildings
can be seen at our extensive show site set in rural
nature gardens between York and Selby with over 50
to choose from, or from your local agent.
All our wooden products are made by our
experienced craftsmen on site only, using top quality
materials. Bespoke buildings can be tailor-made to
your own specifications if required.
All our wooden products are supplied finished in red
cedar stain. Tanalised pressure treated timber is
available at an extra cost. Tanalised timber has been
pressure impregnated with the latest generation of
wood preservative. The treated timber is completely
protected against all forms of decay and insect
attack, and has a greatly extended life for up to 15
years which means your garden building is
maintenance free. All the buildings pictured in the
brochure are of the tanalised finish except for the
Pixie den and Tool Store.
It is our policy to seek constantly to improve design,
quality and service. We reserve the right to amend,
alter our specification at our own discretion when
such changes may be deemed to be desirable or
necessary.
