for this tent. My wife always
hated sleeping on the ground
and I didn’t want to spend
the money for a camper, so this
was our compromise. It sets up
very fast and withstands extremely high
winds! If you have ever been to
southern California then you know what

Social Responsiblity
Napier and the Environment
At Napier Enterprises our respect for the
environment stems from a passion for the
great outdoors. As a company devoted to
corporate social responsibility, we try to find
new ways to become more sustainable on a
daily basis in our product designs and in our
corporate practices.
What We Are Doing to Help
Eliminate the use of PVC: In 2012 Napier removed
PVC from all packaging and tents. From its
manufacture to its disposal, PVC emits toxic
compounds. During the manufacturing of PVC,
dioxin and other persistent pollutants are emitted

into the air, water and land, which present
health hazards. During use, PVC products can
leach toxic additives. When PVC reaches the
end of its lifespan, it enters the landfill, where
it leaches toxic additives or incinerated, again
emitting dioxin and heavy metals.
Reusing and Reducing Cardboard: Cardboard
is all around us and is used in some form every
day. Each person uses approximately 700 lbs. of
paper products annually, and majority of it is in
the form of cardboard. Now that’s a lot of cardboard! At Napier, we believe in using recycled
cardboard in all packaging. By using recycled
cardboard, you create less demand for virgin
wood pulp, less demand for wood pulp reduces
the number of trees harvested each year.
While using recycled cardboard is a great step
to maximizing the environmental sustainability,
we also looked at ways to eliminate the use
of cardboard. In 2011, Napier implemented a
new bag design, which eliminates the need
for a cardboard retail box, reducing the use of
cardboard in Napier’s packaging.
Environmentally Friendly Corporate Culture:
While the changes we have made to our packaging
and products will have an impact on the world
around us, we also know that implementing
environmentally responsible practices in the
workplace is essential too. Our practices
include a recycling program, reduced lighting,
reduction in paper use by becoming paper free
and use only energy star equipment.
We have become a
partner of Trees for the
Future - an agroforestry
resource center that works with local farmers to
restore degraded lands to sustainable productivity
by planting trees that not only thrive in poor soil
conditions, but that also benefit the local area in
a multitude of ways. They have a worldwide
network of technicians, volunteers, and community
leaders, which help rehabilitate environments
across the globe. Napier will select different
locations to plant trees on a quarterly basis.
We have also partnered with
Leave No Trace. This not-forprofit organization educates
others on the importance of
preserving the environment
by reducing our impact on nature. Through our
monthly newsletters and social media, we plan to
educate our current consumers on how they can
protect the environment on an individual basis.
We hope all our campers adopt this notion and
do their best to “Leave No Trace” after they

conclude each trek into the great outdoors.
