About Muni Seva Ashram - Goraj
Many charitable institutions first develop a mission and then structure an organization
to accomplish that mission. In contrast, Muni Seva Ashram started without any formal
mission or objectives. The founder, AnubenThakkar, under her Guruji's direction, only
sought to serve the needy and deprived of Goraj.
Three decades later, the Ashram has emerged as a clean, serene and tranquil place where
love for humanity abundantly bubbles through all corners, exploiting natural resources
in the most sustainable manner using cutting edge technologies in renewable energy even
though tucked in a remote tribal belt. This has made the ashram a self-reliant
homogeneous unit. This is the handy-work of Ashram's chairperson, Dr. Vikram Patel
who as Anuben's right-hand man developed Ashram's infrastructure while paying full
respect to nature.
Thus, the Ashram's mission can now be simply stated as :
"To serve the deficient and needy sections of the society, without regards to cast, creed,
religion or financial status of the recipient, employing the best available appropriate
technologies and in complete harmony with the nature."
SERVICES AT MUNI ASHRAM
Education :
6 Creche Centers
Residential Primary & Seconday high School. This residential school provides free
education, boarding, clothing and medical care to students of socio-economic
backward.
Nursing College : The training and academic facilities offered at the Nursing School are
comparable to international standards School of Clinical Research
Social :
Parivar Mandir : Parivarmandir is built as a home for forsaken new born babies or
children of single parent who is unable to take care of her child
Bhaginimandir : A home for mentally challenged girls; Ashram is takeing care of same
girls life time.
Vanprashtha Mandir : Old age homes.
Health Care :
There are two independent hospitals on the same campus that provide state-of-the-art
medical care to the rural population: Akahar Purshottam Arogya Mandir, which
provides general medical care, and the Kailash Cancer Hospital and Research Cener,
which focuses on oncology and nuclear medicine.
Both hospitals charge a token amount for care, which is fully subsidized by Muni
Seva Ashram if patients cannot afford it, thereby providing 100% free care to the
most needy.
Sustainable Development :
The journey of Ashram in sustainability started much before it became fashionable to
talk about it. Anuben, the founder of MSA, believed firmly in living and growing in
harmony with nature.
"Sustainable development" refers to a way of human development wherein the use of
resources meets human needs while preserving the environment, without compromising
the ability of future generations to meet their needs, and it can refer to economic,
ecological, political, and cultural sustainability.
Muni Seva Ashram is an active agent in the drive for sustainable development, with largescale interests in organic farming, agro forestry, horticulture, animal husbandry, solar
energy, and bio gas. This is also reflected in the Ashram's new website address,
