Dear parents/guardians
Please be informed that the school timings for the senior school students (VI-XII) has been changed
w.e.f. 1 April 2016. The revised school timings will be from 6:55 a.m. to 1:05 p.m. Accordingly, the
revised bus timings for the senior school students has been displayed on the school website and the students
are advised to look in for their respective bus timings.

Please be informed that
(a) The school is required to be self-sustaining and generate its own financial resources since it does not
receive financial aid from any other source.
(b) Financial prudence demands that income from tuition fees must meet the salary bill of the school.
Moreover, every year there is an increase in salary bill by about 14-15% solely on account of annual
increments, DA revision (twice), promotions and other establishment costs etc.
(c) To fulfil the VII CPC recommendations a tuition fee hike is proposed: In order to meet the
expenses to be incurred on account of VII CPC recommendations, a 33% hike in the tuition fee was
proposed in the meeting of the management committee members held in December 2015. The
members were of the opinion that this hike would be too much for the parents to bear, so in order to
reduce the burden on the parents, it was proposed to increase the fee by 22-23% in 2016-17 and the
rest in 2017-18 thereby splitting the increase in two academic sessions. The same was discussed and
deliberated upon, in the meeting of the PTA members held in January 2016 and in the meeting of the
management committee members held on 3 March 2016 and it was agreed upon to increase the tuition
fee by 22-23% both for BSP and NBSP categories. The school will be in a deficit of around
2.39 crores even after the tuition fee increase, which will be met from the little reserves available with
the school and cutting down expenditure on certain heads. We would like to bring to the kind notice of
the parents that whatever fees are paid by the students are utilised solely for the development of the
school.
(d) Transport fee: As far as transport fee is concerned, only 24% is spent on fuel, 76% is spent on salary
to the transport staff, repairs and maintenance of the buses and purchase of new buses (taking into
consideration of the safety and security of the students) in place of existing ones which are no longer
roadworthy. Though the fuel prices have not increased, keeping in mind the other expenses mentioned
above, it has been decided to increase the transport fee by 15.5% for both township and outer township
areas.
(e) In the light of above, after much deliberation, the school management is constrained to reluctantly
revise tuition fee and transport fee as given below failing which the school would not be financially
self-sufficient and it would be very difficult to run the school effectively:

Result Declaration:
Report Cards will be given away on 18th March, 2016. The students will come to school at the usual time
i.e. 8:00 a.m. The school buses will be plying as usual only for collecting the students. No buses will be
plying for dropping the students. The parents are expected to come and meet the respective teacher and take
their ward along.
Parents are invited to visit the respective classroom, meet the Class Teacher & discuss the progress of their

The following will be the schedule for distribution of answer-scripts and result declaration:
I)
SCHEDULE FOR DISTRIBUTION OF ANSWER SCRIPTS:
Evaluated answer scripts will be distributed as per the following schedule and it is essential that
your ward reports to the school to collect the same:
Classes II – V
: Thursday, 10 March 2016 (usual working day)
Classes VI – VIII & XI : Thursday, 17 March 2016 (7:00 to 9:30 a.m.) - Parents are not allowed.
Class IX
: Monday, 28 March 2016 (7:00 to 9:30 a.m.)
Class IX students are required to return the evaluated answer scripts to their respective class
teachers after getting the corrections done, if any, on the same day.
School buses will be plying on 10, 17 & 28 March 2016 according to the timings mentioned above.
Parents’ request(s) for correction, if any, will be entertained strictly as per the following schedule:
Classes II – V
: Friday, 11 March 2016 (9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.)
Classes VI – VIII & XI
: Thursday, 17 March 2016 (10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.)
II) PRE-PRIMARY ANNUAL RESULT DECLARATION:
Friday, 18 March 2016 between 8:00 a.m. & 9:30 a.m.
School buses will be plying on 18 March 2016 for the students of Pre-Primary Wing only to
collect them in the morning at the usual time. The parents are requested to collect their wards
from the school after the Annual Result Declaration between 9:30 a.m. and 12:00 noon.
III) DISTRIBUTION OF REPORT CARDS:
Report cards will be distributed to the students as per the following schedule:
(i) Classes II – V : Tuesday, 22 March 2016 (9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon)
a) Parents of Bus Commuters and those under supervision will not be allowed to
pick-up their wards from the classrooms.
b) Report cards of the absentees may be collected on the same day from the respective
class teachers between 1:00 and 2:00 p.m.
(ii) Classes VI – VIII & XI : Tuesday, 29 March 2016 (7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.)
Parents of those students in classes VI – VIII & XI who couldn’t collect the report cards can
collect the same from the respective class teachers on Wednesday, 30 March 2016 between
10:30 and 11:30 a.m.
(iii) Class IX : Tuesday, 5 April 2016 (7:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.)
The parents of class IX students are requested to return the duly signed Report Card of the
child to the respective class teachers by Wednesday, 6 April 2016.
School buses will be plying on 29 March & 5 April 2016 according to the timings mentioned above.
B) The new session (2016-17) for classes Prep. to IX & XII will commence on Friday, 1 April 2016
and for class X on Wednesday, 6 April 2016.
C) UNIFORM: Class II onwards girls are to switch over from tunics to skirts and class VI onwards boys
are to switch over from shorts to trousers.

Dear Parents/Guardians
A shocking and unfortunate incident took place in a local school of Bhilai where a four year old girl student
was sexually harassed by the school employee. Time and again, our school management is reiterating the
fact that the parents should take precautionary measures with respect to the safety and security of their
wards, especially girls who may be subjected to sexual harassment. It was brought to the notice of the
parents vide our circular no. DPSB:RG:Parental circular/15-’16/07 (PPW & PW) dated 30 July 2015.
Once again we would like to reiterate that it is the moral responsibility of each one of us to educate the
school children about such mis-happenings, so that they are in a position to understand and bring to
your/our notice any untoward incident(s) faced by them. At school level we are trying to take care of all
such cases, if any. The children have been informed through the regular school assemblies that if they face
any such problem, they must immediately approach their respective Class Teachers/Class Reps/House
wardens/ Senior Mistresses/Head Mistress/Vice Principal or the Principal. Furthermore, it is advised that if
you or your ward suspects any student or member of the staff guilty of such immoral conduct, the matter
should be immediately reported to the school authorities.
Apart from this, it has also been observed by the school authorities that the students commuting by private
autos, rickshaws etc. to and fro from school are at risk. Many a time, these vehicles are overloaded and the
children are left unsupervised. On the other hand the school is providing buses which are manned by
permanent staff under the supervision of teachers. Keeping in mind the safety and security of the children,
it is advisable that the parents avail the school bus facility especially in lower classes. In case the parents
decide otherwise, they are requested to ensure that the means of transport they are availing is safe for their
wards.
Please note that the school will observe ZERO TOLERANCE for cases involving sexual harassment.

In view of the strike called by Chhattisgarh Pradesh School College Chalak Parichalak and
Karmachari Sangh on Friday, 20 November 2015 and in order to avoid any untoward
incidents, it has been decided not to ply school buses on 20 November 2015. However, the
school will function as usual and all the parents/guardians are humbly requested to make
necessary arrangements to drop and to pick-up their ward(s) from the school at their usual
school timings. It is left to the parents/guardians to decide about their ward(s) attending the
school on 20 November 2015. It is also informed that the teachers will undertake revision

thereby risking their lives. Moreover, they are seen parking their vehicles outside the school campus i.e.
near the residential area (Ruabandha Sector) which is resulting in problems for the residents. If your ward is
not legally authorized to drive a motor vehicle, please do not let your child come to school driving it. We
have also written to the Superintendent of Police, Durg Distt., Traffic Inspector and Inspector, Newai Thana
to conduct regular checks to ensure that the students without a valid Driving License are not allowed to
come to school on two wheelers.
We very humbly seek your kind cooperation in ensuring that your ward has a valid Driving License (if
legally allowed) for a geared and non-geared vehicle, wears a helmet while driving and also parks his/her

Subject: Anti-Dengue Homeopathic Medicine.
You are all aware that there is sudden spurt in the number of Dengue affected cases in our State also. To
prevent the children from getting affected by Dengue Fever the school has arranged to provide

Greetings
This is to inform you that:
1.
The First Term Examination for classes VI to XII will start on 14 September 2015 and will end on
24 September 2015 and the results will be declared on Friday, 9 October 2015.

Achievements:
(a)
Swachh Bharath Mission is a programme to make India Clean. It is only possible with the
awareness and involvement of youth. Keeping this in view, Bhilai Nagar Palik Nigam organized
Swachchh Bharat Mission Quiz on 17 July, 2015 in Bhilai Vidyalaya, Sector-2, Bhilai.
Delhi Public School, Bhilai bagged prizes in all categories. At the primary school level, Rohit Panda of
class V-D and Auroshis Samantaray of class IV-H received the First and the Second prizes comprising
Cash Awards of Rs. 1000 & Rs. 750 respectively. In the senior category, Harshita Dokania of class XI-J
got the Second prize comprising a Cash Prize of Rs. 750. At the middle school level, Abhinav Pal of
class VIII-I received the Second prize comprising a Cash Award of Rs. 750. The prizes and certificates
were distributed by Mrs. R. Shangeetha, I.A.S., Collector, Durg Distt.
(b) K.S. Rahul makes DPS, Bhilai proud : DPS, Bhilai lifted the Runner-Up Trophy: K.S. Rahul
became instrumental in helping his school to emerge the First Runner-up in the Inter-DPS National
Swimming Meet for Boys (Open), 2015 held at DPS, Moradabad from 31 July to 2 August 2015.
It was a glorious moment for K.S. Rahul when he bagged Five Gold Medals in 50m Freestyle, 100m
Freestyle, 50m Butterfly, 100m Butterfly and 200m Individual Medley and was declared the Best
Swimmer of the Meet with the glittering trophy and a certificate to his credit. He also bagged two
silver medals in 4x100m freestyle relay and 4x100m medley relay.
Amey Singh bagged Bronze Medals in 100m Back Stroke and 200m Back Stroke and Silver Medals in
4X100m Freestyle Relay and 4X100m Medley Relay.
Ayush Dewangan, Kalash Verma and Akshat Pandey bagged Silver Medals in 4x100m Freestyle relay
and 4x100m Medley Relay.
Last year K.S. Rahul was awarded a scholarship of Rs. 12000/- by the CBSE for his stupendous
achievement when he broke the National record in 100m Freestyle. This year too, he broke his own
record setting a new record, in Inter-DPS National Swimming Meet.
3.
BRITISH COUNCIL INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL AWARD 2015-18: The portfolio submitted by our school
has been APPROVED and we have been awarded with the British Council International School Award for
the period 2015-’18. OUR PORTFOLIO WAS AWARDED 49/49 MARKS i.e. FULL MARKS ON ALL THE
PARAMETERS. The Award will be formally presented to our school in a ceremony later this year. The
portfolio comprised seven projects each with an International dimension and was undertaken under the
leadership of ISA Coordinator Mrs. Priya C. Peri and the Project Heads – Mrs. Bindu Mockoul, Mrs. Sudipta
Sarkar, Mr. Vimal Kr. Jha, Dr. (Mrs.) Seema Kumar, Mrs. Aditi Lagwankar, Mrs. Sushmita Moitra and Mrs.
Anupama Sharma under the able guidance of the Principal Mr. Parshant Vashishta and the Vice Principal
Mr. Binod Kumar, Sr. Mistress – Secondary Wing Mrs. Durga Banerjee, Sr. Mistress – Middle Wing
Mrs. Mousami Roy, Head Mistress – Primary Wing Mrs. Lipika Banerjee, Sr. Mistress – Pre-Primary Wing
Mrs. Monita Karamchandani. It involved students right from classes Prep. to XII and the activities were
conducted throughout the academic session 2014-’15.

DPS Bhilai adjudged First Ranked Day-Cum-Boarding School in Chhattisgarh in Education World
India School Rankings 2015 Survey: DPS Bhilai is ranked India’s No. 24 and Chhattisgarh
State’s No. 1 Day-cum-Boarding School in the Education World India School Rankings 2015. The
Principal Mr. Parshant Vashishta will receive the award on behalf of the school in an award ceremony
scheduled on 26 September 2015 at New Delhi.

Senior School (classes VI-XII) Annual Exhibition: The Senior School (classes VI-XII) Annual Exhibition
was inaugurated on 14 August 2015 by Smt. R. Shangeetha, I.A.S., Collector & District Magistrate, Durg
Distt. The theme chosen for the exhibition of Middle Wing (classes VI-VIII) was “Art Forms Through The
Ages – Making The World Beautiful”. Creative and artistic displays were also put up in the Computer,
Geography, Biology, Physics, Chemistry and Maths Laboratories. The Craft Room reflected the hues of the
rainbow, while the Rangoli, Salad Decoration and Flower Arrangement were a treat to behold!

XXX Foundation Day Celebration: The XXX Foundation Day celebrations of Delhi Public School Bhilai
were held in the Risali Sector School Complex. The Chief Guest on the occasion was Mr. Satyender Kumar,

Making Maths Matter: A Four day Zonal Enrichment Programme : Innovative Practices in
Mathematics organized at DPS Bhilai: A four day Zonal Enrichment Programme for Middle and
Secondary level titled Innovative Practices in Maths was conducted from 24-27 August 2015. This four
day workshop was organized under the auspices of Delhi Public School Society – Human Resource
Development Centre. The Chief Guest for the inaugural session was Mr. Y.K. Degan, Pro Vice Chairman,
SMC DPS Bhilai & E.D. (Works), BSP, Bhilai and for the valedictory session it was Mr. Alok Jha, Member,
SMC, DPS Bhilai & G.M. (T.A.), BSP, Bhilai. The programme was also graced by Mr. Anupal Sagar,
Programme Director and Joint Director, HRDC, DPSS for all the four days. Mr. Parshant Vashishta,
Principal was the Programme Coordinator while Mrs. Durga Banerjee, Sr. Mistress – Secondary Wing was
the Dy. Programme Coordinator. 32 delegates from Delhi Public Schools across the zone (Chhattisgarh,
Orissa and Madhya Pradesh, attended the programme. The programme was conducted by a plethora of
renowned subject experts and included a session on Yoga as well as Attitude Management.

Inter-DPS Football Tournament: Our school has been bestowed with the responsibility of hosting the
Inter-DPS Football Tournament for Boys (Open), 2015 – Zone-4. The tournament is scheduled to be held
between 16-18 October 2015.
9.
PTA members for the Session 2015-’16: The PTA members for the Session 2015-’16 has been
constituted on the basis of the class toppers and the details of the PTA members are given in the
Annexure.
10. I request you to please note the following:
(a) DISTRIBUTION OF REPORT CARDS: The report cards of the First Terminal Examination will be
given to the students of classes VI-XII on Friday, 9 October 2015 from 7:00 - 9:30 a.m. School buses
will be plying accordingly.
(b) DUSSEHRA-DIWALI BREAK: The Dussehra Break will be from 19-25 October 2015 and the
Diwali Break will be from 9-15 November 2015.
(c) Please ensure that your ward is punctual and regular to the school.
Promotion to the higher class is granted on the basis of the whole year’s performance of the pupil,
hence the importance of regularity in attendance and work is imperative. Punctuality, hardwork and
smart turnout do contribute significantly towards a harmonious development of the personality of
the pupil, thus fostering confidence in the child.
(d) Parents are welcome to meet the class teacher/subject teacher(s) on the Second Saturday of every
month (marked “SS”) indicated in the calendar of the school almanac on page nos. 8 & 9.
Timing: 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon for classes VI-XII and 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. for classes

(e) Leave must be sanctioned in advance. The leave application must reach on the first day of absence

(f) Fees should be remitted by 10th of the month due for bimonthly installments i.e., October, December

Teachers’ Day Celebrations - Hon’ble Prime Minister’s Address for School Children
Apropos above, you will be happy to know that our Hon’ble Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi would be
addressing the school children, followed by Question and Answer session on 4 September 2015 from
10:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m.. The school has made arrangements to facilitate the students of classes VI-XII to
view the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s Address and question and answer session on 4 September 2015. Please
note the following:
1.
Attendance is compulsory for classes VI-XII and the school timings will be from 7:30 a.m. to
12:00 noon.
2.
Buses will be plying on all the routes accordingly and the buses will start from school at 6:30 a.m..
The buses will leave school at 12:00 noon to drop them back.
3.
Please let your ward carry his/her tiffin and water bottle.
4.

We all are well aware that various media reports from Newspapers, Television etc. are now-a-days
highlighting the threats to safety and security of the school children, specially girls who may be subjected
to sexual harassment. As parents, we hold a moral responsibility for the safety and security of our wards. In
view of the above facts, you are hereby requested to educate your ward about such mis-happenings, so that
they are in a position to understand and bring to your notice about any untoward incident(s) faced by them.
At school level we are trying to take care of all such cases, if any. The children have been informed through
the regular school assemblies that if they face any such problem, they must immediately approach their
Class Teachers/Class Reps/House wardens/Senior Mistresses/Head Mistress/Vice Principal/Principal
respectively.
Apart from this, it has also been observed by the school authorities that the students commuting by Private
Autos, Rickshaws etc. to and fro from school are at risk. Many a time, these vehicles are overloaded and the
children are left unsupervised. On the other hand the school is providing bus facility to the students which
are manned by permanent staff under the supervision of teachers. Keeping in mind the safety and security
of the children, it is advisable that the parents avail the school bus facility especially in lower classes. In
case the parents decide otherwise, they are requested to ensure that the means of transport they are availing
is safe for their wards.
Please note that the school will observe ZERO TOLERANCE for cases involving sexual harassment.

Subject: Celebrating International Day of Yoga on 21 June 2015 – Reg.
You must be aware that 21 June has been declared as International Day of Yoga by the United Nations General
Assembly on December 11, 2014. As a part of the celebration, the district administration is organizing a mass Yoga
demonstration by the school students. The students of class IX of our school have been selected for the Yoga
demonstration scheduled to be held at Helipad, Near Bhilai Niwas on Sunday, 21 June 2015. All the class IX students
are to report at Helipad, Near Bhilai Niwas on Sunday, 21 June 2015 at 6:00 a.m.
Buses will be plying on all the routes and will leave school at 5:00 a.m. Non-bus commuters should report at Helipad,
Near Bhilai Niwas by 5:50 a.m. After the demonstration at Helipad, the buses will be plying on their respective
routes at around 8:10 a.m. Students should carry water bottle and single bedsheet (preferably white).
