LLumar Safety and Security Film Shows its Strength
We subjected LLumar safety and security film installed on 6mm thick
annealed glass to an impact test to replicate an intruder repeatedly hitting
the glass with a heavy hammer. Test results demonstrate how LLumar can
delay and deter intruders whose goal is quick entry through shattered
glass.

Russia: In a battle of man versus machine our
LLumar PrecisionCutTM System (PCS) yielded a
40% savings in installation time over a traditional
hand-cut installation! The test was arranged in
cooperation with Ford Russia to identify the
economic advantages of the LLumar system.
The challenge: An independent installer completed
two installations. He applied a competitor’s product
using standard installation methods on one car and
applied a LLumar pre-cut kit onto a second car. The
two cars used in the test were Ford Focus II 5-door
hatchbacks.
The results: It took 1 hour, 49 minutes to tint the car
using traditional installation methods and 1 hour,
5 minutes using the LLumar pre-cut kit. The test
yielded a time advantage of 44 minutes with the
LLumar pre-cut kit. With that time savings a dealer
could easily install several more vehicles per day.

Turkey: Ucler, our LLumar distributor
in Turkey, recently participated in
Turkey Build 2006, the largest
exhibition of its kind in the country.
Traditionally an automotive film
distributor, Ucler is now breaking into
the flat glass market. Participation in
this exhibition gave them maximum
exposure to architects, specifiers, and
contractors. They considered the
show to be a great a success.
Ucler will now follow up on the leads
generated at the event and continue
to pursue this market.

Taiwan: This year CPFilms, together with our LLumar distributor,
Energise Co. Ltd., participated in the AMPA Tradeshow 2006 held
in Taipei. This annual event is held for dealers in the auto parts
and aftermarket car accessories industries. In addition to the
Asian visitors, the show attracted visitors from the Middle East,
Eastern and Central Europe as well as the Northern part of Latin
America.
Safety Display
The LLumar booth featured creative product displays for
Automotive, Building, Safety/Security, Decorative and Paint
Protection Films. The smash and grab video was used to draw a
crowd while individual product displays illustrated the benefits of
LLumar products.
One particularly interesting display launched the LLumar
PrecisionCutTM System. Although a plotter could not be present at
the show, the concept of pre-cut film was clearly illustrated in a
simple display showing a reduced-sized film kit along with product
literature. This allowed viewers to see how a PCS pattern comes
off of the plotter.

Martinsville: Since December 2002, the World
Food Program has had a non-exclusive Long
Term Agreement with CPFilms for the supply of
safety/security film for their WFP buildings and
vehicles. Over 65 installations have been

Situation: With the increase of terrorist threats, safety has become a top priority for
building owners and tenants alike. The developer of the Cathay Financial Building wanted
to find a way to protect his high profile VIP tenants from the danger of broken glass. Banks,
financial institutions and an embassy are housed in the 24 floor building. The developer
sought a quick, cost-effective alternative to glass replacement.
Solution: Since time was of the essence, the building's developer selected LLumar safety
film to reinforce the glass. LLumar’s optically clear 100 micron film holds glass
together in the event of breakage, protecting tenants and people on the street from
hazardous flying glass shards. Because LLumar is available in widths up to 72” (1.829m),
none of the windows required splicing.
Results: After the installation, the developer commented, “I was very impressed by the
professional installation and quality of the film. It is so clear that it virtually disappears on
the glass, yet I know it is there offering protection to my tenants. ” In addition to the safety

Situation: The McDonald's restaurant is situated in the very center of Moscow. It is a
popular place where people have lunch or just spend free time with their families and
friends. In view of frequent acts of terrorism and vandalism the management of the
restaurant realized it was necessary to take steps to protect their guests and their property.
Solution: The local LLumar dealer proposed installing an 11 mil safety film (SCLSRPS11)
with brilliant optical clarity and scratch-resistant coating, because it would provide a clear but
powerful barrier of protection. The original glazing combined with this type of film reduces
the effects of an explosion because it protects people and property from flying glass shards.
Results: Within hours, the installation of LLumar safety film on glass produces a shatterresistant, non-splintering glazing system, providing immediate protection for people and
property. Reinforcing traditional glazing with a retrofit film product is significantly less
expensive than glass replacement. The Government of Moscow is in the process of
developing a "Safety Glazing" program which employs the installation of SCLSRPS11 on

In mid-December, Technical Support
team members Joe Richard and
Danny Wong conducted a training
seminar in Bangkok with the 20
installers who’ll be carrying out this
massive project in the coming
months. The product has a unique structure and special
installation requirements. Also, the installers must work from
gondolas making the job especially challenging. The installers
are now confident they can get the job done easily within
the contractual timeframe, with a product guaranteed for a
minimum of 10 years.
Saudi Arabia: Asail Al-Jazirah

Brazil: LLumar dealers in Brazil are taking advantage of a unique shop design — a professionally
designed tent. This low cost model is one of the
fastest ways to build and start a LLumar business.
The text offers flexibility and excellent brand
exposure. For example, you can place the tent in a
popular seasonal destination like a beach area and
once the season ends you can relocate. Another
option is to rotate the tent among several key
locations where you want to do business.
The owner of the tent positioned at this gas station
cautions that this business model works only if you

India: Glasstec India, a business to business
exhibition intended for architects, designers,
technicians, manufacturers, and contractors with a
connection to the Glass industry, presented the
perfect opportunity to promote both LLumar and the
Solutia range of PVB interlayers for laminated glass.
The exhibition coincided with a two-day seminar, at
the same venue, on various topics relating to glass.
The seminar was opened by India's leading
architect and featured a large number of high-profile
international speakers.
Our distributor in India, Gras Impex, took the lead
on designing the LLumar section of the booth. It
featured three display units, each containing three
double-sided display panels. Each unit was used to
demonstrate products/information relating to a
particular application—solar control, safety and
security, and decorative.
In addition, the stand featured a large flat screen
wall mounted television for video presentations;
a clear panel of flat glass for installation
demonstrations; and a desk and separate
seating area for discussions.
Although not particularly large or spacious, the stand
space was used very effectively. The layout encouraged visitors to look, learn, and make inquiries.
All visitors were given a small literature pack in
a LLumar branded bag with a small LLumar giveaway. Each visitor was logged manually on a written
visitor inquiry sheet and classified immediately by
importance for future follow-up.
It is too early to tell whether the exhibition has been
a success in terms of generating new business.
Gras Impex will continue to monitor progress from all
leads received at the show. However, in terms of
raising the profile of the LLumar brand in India within
the glass industry, the impact has been immediate.

Situation: At nearly 6 million square feet, Incheon International Airport's 46-gate terminal
is South Korea's largest building. The Passenger Terminal Building incorporates a design
that pays tribute to traditional Korean architecture. While the Transportation Center forms
the hub of the airport. Both building contains many glass balustrades. Even though the
balustrades were made of tempered glass, airport authorities worried that glass breakage
caused by baggage carts could harm passengers.
Solution: The airport authority selected a clear interior and exterior LLumar 4 mil
safety film (SCLSRPS4 and SCLERPS4) to cover the balustrades and the curtain wall
of the transportation center. The film holds glass fragments in place in the event of
accidental breakage providing an invisible layer of protection that does not alter the
architectural design.
Results: The airport authority was very pleased with the installation. There have been no
injuries or accidents caused by glass breakage. LLumar safety films are working to protect
airport employees, passengers and property. The authorities also mentioned they were
very impressed with LLumar's capabilities in terms of technical information provided by the
distributor as well as product quality and installation.

Indonesia: LLumar SCLSRPS7 safety and security film was recently installed on several Starbucks
Coffee outlets in the capital of Indonesia - Jakarta. With LLumar safety and security film, customers
and staff are protected from the hazards of broken glass. This installation is an excellent example
of a market opportunity that exists throughout the world to complete multiple installations under one
contract. Retail outlets, hotels and restaurants often have many locations under the same
management. Conduct your negotiations with the corporate headquarters and you will secure

Vietnam: LLumar is expanding
in Vietnam. After six months in
business our partner "FiveStar" in
Hanoi-Vietnam has begun to reach
out to other cities and is expanding
the LLumar dealer network to
"Danang" as well as "Ho Chi Minh".
The installation team has grown as
well. FiveStar began with two
in-house installers trained by the
CPFilms technical staff. They have
continued their training efforts and
have tripled their installer head
count. The new team looks very
professional in their LLumar uniforms.

South Korea: The LLumar PrecisionCut System is
continuing to grow in popularity among LLumar
distributors and dealers. CPFK, our LLumar distributor
in Korea, recently completed the set-up and operation
training program for their new system. They are now
cutting trial patterns for the most popular vehicles in
the market. Ultimately CPFK plans to provide pre-cut
paint protection, window film, and graphic film kits to
their distribution and installation network (100 LLumar
Hi-Tech shops).
The automated cutting system includes a plotter,
a computer pre-loaded with LLumar PrecisionCut
software and patterns, as well as databases of
patterns for window film, paint protection film and
graphics. For more information contact your local

Mexico: Our distributor in Monterrey, Solar X de
Mexico, recently received a request for decorative
films to improve the appearance of Galerias
Monterrey, one of the newest and biggest shopping
malls in the city. Mall management wanted to
incorporate bright colors and and a unique design
into the glass bridge that crosses between the
shops and the parking garage. They also wanted to
install film on an interior dome that is exposed to
the very aggressive sunlight in Northern Mexico.
LLumar film was selected due to the quality, color
stability, and extensive product line. Customers are
very pleased with the impressive results of the
installation. The image of the shopping mall has
been enhanced and the solar heat and glare
problems have been reduced.
Ecuador: Blindamax (X-men), our LLumar distributor
in Ecuador, came up with a great idea to showcase
the LLumar logo in a prominent way. They designed
wheel covers to be used on the backs of trucks and
SUVs. Unique wheel covers are popular in Latin
America. So X-men thought it would be a perfect
give-away. They’ll give the tire covers to any LLumar
customer who has a spare tire on the back of their
vehicle. They also intend to approach off road
associations to give the tire covers to competitors to
use in competition and on their personal vehicles to
gain more exposure to the brand on the streets.
Brazil: Our marketing team in Brazil
designed a new LLumar display for
flat glass films. The display was
created for point of sale locations
with a high volume of people, such
as glaziers, furniture shops, home
centers, etc. Consumers at these
shops are usually looking for
architectural products and solutions
for their houses and apartments.
Having a LLumar product display
at these point of sales is a good
opportunity for promoting the use
of window film.
The display has five window panels that can be customized
for each type of shop (i.e. if is a design center the dealer may
want to install decorative films). There’s also a display rack
for literature. Besides boosting sales, the display provides
great visibility for the LLumar brand and strengthens its
image in the market place.
Vidraçaria Montar, a glass retail shop focused on architectural
glazing solutions, was recently equipped with the new
LLumar flat glass display. See the photo above for an idea of
how you may use this type of display in similar locations.

Situation: Built in the 1960’s by architect Lina Bo, MASP, the São Paulo Art Museum, is one
of the city’s premier attractions. Works by the most famous artists of all time can be seen in
the museum, including Picasso, Renoir, Cezànne and many others. Museum management
was planning extensive renovations to revitalize the building’s appearance and to protect the
priceless works of art, but they did not want to alter the building’s original characteristics.
Solution: Mr. Julio Neves, a renowned architect and also President of the Museum, and
Mr. Paulo Duarte, a Brazilian glass industry expert, chose to have a Llumar clear safety film
with scratch-resistant coating installed.
Results: The installation has exceeded expectations. Mr. Neves explained, “Llumar safety
film will allow the same light transmission that was specified in the original project, thus not
interfering with the way visitors will perceive the works of art. The film's UV absorption
properties will also provide excellent protection for the exhibits.” Mr. Duarte points out other
advantages: “It is so important to know that, should the glass break, Llumar will stop it
from shattering and keep the glazing in place. This not only improves the glass safety
performance, but also allows us time to get it replaced at our convenience.”

Situation: The Forum Palace Sports and Recreational Center in Vilnius, Lithuania, is
beautifully designed with numerous glass dividing walls. The transparent walls provided an
open, spacious atmosphere for the clients, but also created a lack of privacy. Designers
were tasked with enhancing privacy while maintaining the ambience. Each room required
a unique design and a creative solution.
Solution: The local LLumar dealer proposed NRMPS2, a frosted film that looks like
sand-blasted glass, to decorate the dividing walls. LLumar film was a perfect choice for the
project because it can be cut to any design, by hand or with a computer plotter, and
installed at a fraction of the cost of acid etching. And unlike etching, LLumar films can be
removed in the event of remodeling. Design and installation was completed in two weeks.
Results: “Multilayer designs applied to both sides of the glass walls gave a three-dimensional effect that made all rooms unique and stunning,” said Architect Mr. Velerij Starkovskij.
The owners of the Forum Palace agreed the solution surpassed their expectations.
“This material can make a statement while still maintaining function,” said General Manager
Mr. Ronaldas Matiliauskas. “It’s an inexpensive way to make a large area look customized.”
