I would love to see a play ground on
the beach by the bathroom pavilion in
front of the Catholic Church! I would
also like to see the old concession
stand that was right in the beach. As
a child we would go there every single
time we were at Sauble ( which was a
lot). Bring back classic Sauble!
Sauble Beach is my happy place.
It’s pristine beaches, warm positive
energy, and those magical sunsets
make it ideal for personal renewal.
Our family has treasured our time
here and we have so many fond
memories of good times filled with joy
and laughter.
-J.Z.
While getting rid of paid parking will
help to bring locals from the area back
into town, attracting families to make
this their vacation spot is becoming
increasingly difficult. If values are
established and the development
is planned and purposeful - we can
preserve the beautiful landscape
and provide the amenities and points
of interest that families look for in a
vacation spot.
-J.S.
I am a life -timer at the beach. What
would I like to see developed in
Sauble Beach? Things the way they
were in the past. Sidewalks, roads and
the beach cleaned and raked. Every
night. We have the most beautiful
beach in Ontario - lets keep it looking
that way.

Sauble needs the things we all drive
to Southampton and Port Elgin for.
Bring back the Pavillion, add a 24hour Laundromat. We need to sell
that eye sore of an amusement park
and use that land for something that
families will enjoy again. There is so
much work to be done, but we can
thrive again.

“What d e v e lo p ments would you like to see for Sauble Beach in 2015?”
One of my favorite memories was
when we went to the amusement
park. It is such a shame to see it not
being used to create those memories
for future generations. We still have
a competition of who can see the big
orange slide first when we are heading
up on a Friday night, I would love to
see it re-done.

I would also like to see a buried

flows from the drainage ditches that
run throughout Sauble. This would

I believe the beach would benefit
greatly from acquiring the land
that once housed the much-loved
amusement park. This eye sore is
doing a huge disservice to our town.
Driving into Sauble and seeing this
first makes us look like a DEAD town.
Literally anything that can be done
with the rest of that land would be
better than what is there now. It makes
me depressed to look at knowing how
much fun kids used to have there.

Drive, dedication, determination –
words best used to describe Sauble
Beach local Jason Jenings. To know
Jason, is to know that he is relentless
in chasing his dreams – giving up is
not an option. He is no stranger to
the electronic music world, and is
hard at work once again after landing
his own show on a New York City
radio station.
Jason has been DJing since 1999,
and took on the producer role in
2013. When asked about how he
got started, Jenings takes a deep
breath. “It began around age 12 – I
was fascinated with messing around
with cassette tapes. I would take a
sample of one song and add it to the
parts of another and make my own
tracks. From there, I started to grasp
the art of beat matching. I only had
a single record player at the time, so
I would play a song on the cassette
deck and then try to mix in the other
song with the record player. It was
a lot of trial and error,” he says with
a laugh. “Eventually I mastered it
when I was able to purchase proper
equipment. In 2002 I acquired Technic
decks and an amazing mixing board
– this was a huge moment for me as
that equipment was so expensive. It
was hard to contain my excitement!”
He notes that the scene has changed
since 1999, stating, “it is truly amazing
how much dance music has evolved.
Back then it wasn’t played on local
radio or even in TV commercials.
Now it is the fastest growing music
genre worldwide. It’s universal.”
Jenings has taken a break over the
years from his music. He worked in
the corporate world for a while. “It
was a great experience and I truly
excelled, but I didn’t love it.” He
explains that he suffered from an
injury on-the-job a short time later,
and that “the recovery process gave
me a chance to re-evaluate my life.
Dance music has always been in my
blood - I wasn’t done with it. With the
support of my family I decided to get
back into it full time.”
Jason’s decision has obviously paid
off. After taking an audio engineering
course in 2013, he began to produce
his own tracks. Since then, ITunes
has picked up two of his songs
“Rise” and “How You Are” – the rest
of the record will be released through
Hanmarica later this year. “My biggest
goal is to become a renowned DJ and
Producer. I want to travel the world
and play for thousands of fans in one
venue. If I keep my head down and
continue to work hard, the rest will
follow.” It is Jason’s strong sense of
self and positive attitude that have
clearly gotten him to this point – traits
that anyone looking to get into music
should possess. His advice to those
coming up in the industry? Work hard.
“It is a hard business and you’ve got
to have the drive and determination
to succeed. There are thousands of
DJs and producers out there trying
to do exactly the same thing. You
have to set yourself apart from the
rest. You’ve got to have your own
sound. You’ve got to sell yourself
as a brand, and you literally have
to be able to play every role – DJ,
producer, promoter, marketer, and be
able to network. Conquer these and
have a great support team – it makes
all the difference.”
Everyone measures the idea of
success differently – when asked what
his formula was, “it’s pretty simple,” he
says. “Success is measured by how
much you put into something. If you
give 110% and are passionate about
what you are doing, you will succeed.”
Adding “positive visualization is key.
In order to get to where you want to
be, you have to picture yourself at
the end result.” Clearly success is

happening for Jason. Recently, he
secured residency on Party 103 – a
New York City dance station. Since
his first show on May 28th, he has
signed on for an exclusive streaming
channel. It plays 24/7 and features
special events, guest mixes, and
his own releases. In addition to all
of this, he will be featured on In Live
Sessions, which is being broadcasted
from Venezuela to Spain, Brazil,
Germany, the Netherlands, and
Mexico. “It’s all happening so fast!”
he exclaims. “But it’s going well, I
know I’ll get there.”

police to identify your belongings if
they are stolen.
• Make sure the outside lights work and
use them to deter low light visitors.
• Know your neighbours and watch for
suspicious people or activity on your

• Don’t leave valuables in plain sight

who you tell. Try not to advertise
your absence with electronic or

Terry and Catherine Arnold have pulled
together approximately 375 players
ranging from age 3 - 17 to form the
Sauble Soccer who play on the fields
behind the school. Without the support
of team sponsors from area businesses,
coaches, and parent volunteers none
of this would happen. Many thanks
go out to everyone involved including
the players and spectators for making
this sports venture well on the road to
another successful season.

Did you know that in the sport of
lawn bowling men, women and teens
compete equally? Like curling, lawn
bowling is a game of both finesse and
skill and you can play for recreation or
for competition.
Everyone is welcome to stop by
Monday and Friday evenings or
Tuesday and Thursday afternoons to
watch or join in a game. We’ll even
throw in some free coaching and the
bowls needed to play. No partner is
needed – just wear flat-soled shoes
or sneakers. We welcome members
from Wiarton and the Peninsula!
Veronica Jackson and Murray Trask
of the Saugeen Club took first place
winning all 3 games. Sauble’s John
and MaryAnn Van Rooyen took 2nd
and Ken Martin and Pat Smith of
Chesley placed 3rd. Meaford’s Gladys
William and Donna Eagles took 4th
prize and last in the money was the
team of Eric Weatherall and Johnna
Hoita from Chesley.
June 19th was a tournament
sponsored by Dave and Stacie Fretz

Wednesday evening at 6:15 beside
the Sauble Beach Community Centre.
On the Canada Day weekend the men
manned a barbecue at the Artisan and
Craft Show with the money raised
going to local charities. Lawn Bowling
also took place in June and in August
we have our annual Bocce Tournament
as well as work with the County on the
collecting of hazardous waste. It is a
busy time for the club members and
they volunteer as much as possible.
