General Information/Rules and Regulations
CONDITIONS OF COMPETITION
USEF MEMBERSHIP STATEMENT
Life, senior active and junior active members shall be eligible to participate in all
classes at Regular Competitions, Eventing Competitions at the Preliminary Level or
above and Combined Driving Competitions at the Advanced Level, Dressage, Reining
and Vaulting Competitions and Endurance Rides. A nonmember may participate as a
handler, rider, driver, owner, lessee, agent, coach or trainer at Regular Competitions,
Eventing Competitions, Dressage Competitions, Reining Competitions and Combined
Driving Competitions upon payment of a $30 nonmember registration fee. Participants
in the following classes are exempted from the Requirements of this rule: 1) leadline; 2)
exhibitions; 3) games and races; 4) classes for 4-H members; 5) walk trot and academy
classes (academy classes are classes limited to horses used regularly in a lesson
program); 6) USDF introductory level tests, pas de deux and quadrille classes; 7) NRHA
Endorsed Reining Competitions. 8) Opportunity classes, 9) citizens of other nations who
have proof, in English, of current membership in good standing of their own National
Federation, 10) USEA beginner novice division; and 11) assistant handlers in Dressage
Sport Horse Breeding classes.
The Horse Show Management reserves the right to itself to interpret all questions and
conditions in regard to, or arising out of, or incident to, the Show without claims for
damages or recourse of any kind. All questions not covered in these Rules and Regulations
shall be decided by Show Management, its decision to be final.
The Horse Show Management reserves to itself the right to refuse, accept conditionally,
or to cancel any entries, disqualify any riders or exhibitors, prohibit exhibition of entries,
and cancel award prizes, without claim for damages; to change any course, to cancel or
combine any classes, or to reschedule classes after due notice to exhibitors; to change
rings or rotate judges; use dotted line; and to change the specifications in jumper classes as
competition warrants.
Every horse entered herein for competition will be under control of the Show Management,
but the Show Management will in no case be responsible for any loss or damage that may
occur, and it shall be a condition of entry that each exhibitor shall hold the Horse Show,
officials, employees, Officers, director, Sponsors, and Facility Owners blameless for any loss
or accident to his horse(s), employees, or equipment. All owners and exhibitors shall be
responsible for any damage incurred by them, their agents or employees, to stalls, buildings
and other properties on the showgrounds, and shall be billed accordingly. STALL DOOR
REMOVAL $50.00.
STALLS: 400 permanent stalls, 12’ x 10’, with doors will be available at Brownland Farm
Show Center at a cost of $200.00 per stall, beginning Monday before the show starts. NO
INITIAL BEDDING IS PROVIDED. Stalls are assigned strictly on a first come first served
basis, and WILL NOT be reserved without payment! PAYMENT MUST BE RECEIVED
BEFORE ENTRY DEADLINE OR STALLS WILL BE CANCELED. As a service to our customers,
we will “split” tack stalls between accounts if notified before noon Friday.
NO REFUNDS ON STALL CANCELLATIONS.
ENTRIES: Entries close 14 days before each show series starts. After this time all entries will
pay a $50 Late Fee. All jumpers should be declared for their classes no later than 1 hour after
last jumper class is completed on the day preceding. Only complete entries will be processed and
considered qualified for pre-entry status. Incomplete entries will be placed on a stand-by status.
To be complete, the entry form must contain the following:
1) All stall, paddock, and camper fees
2) All jumper nomination fees
3) Names of horses, owners, riders, and trainers
4) Divisions/Classes entered
5) Phone numbers of owners/trainers
Numbers will not be issued to competitors without credit card information or a signed open
check; presentation of all Measurement cards; and Amateur credentials; a copy of negative
coggins test must be provided to the horse show office, and completion of an IRS w-9 Form for
all owners of horses competing in any division offering over $1,000 in prize money. Amateur
status adults showing in adult amateur or amateur owner classes must show their amateur
certification to the show secretary before numbers will be issued. A $45 office fee will be
charged all horses. There are no scratch/add fees. Each horse entered for competition will be
assessed a $7.00 drug fee, an $8.00 USEF fee forwarded to the USEF & a $2.00 USHJA fee.
For your convenience we now accept Visa, Mastercard and Discover.
DIVISION/SECTION: A division will not be split unless there are 4 or more entries for each
section. A division will not be held unless there are at least 4 entries.
SCRATCHES: Scratches must be made in the office on the official add/scratch form. Once the
class has begun, scratches will not be honored.
REFUNDS: Before the entry deadline all fees will be refunded. After the entry deadline, stall fees,
nomination fees, and camper fees cannot be refunded. Class entry fees will be refunded upon
presentation of a proper vet certificate to the show manager . division entry fees cannot be
refunded once the horse has exhibited in the first class of the division.
CHECK OUT: Any horse show bills not checked out at the conclusion of each show will
be assessed a $50 fee for check out. Any mistakes at checkout must be resolved within
24 hours.
NON-NEGOTIABLE CHECKS: Checks returned by the bank for any reason will be assessed a
penalty of $25 or 10% of the check amount, whichever is greater. Upon notification of a returned
check, accounts will be given three (3) days to make full payment including the penalty, which
must be paid in certified funds, cashier’s check or money order. Overnight mail service is advised
in order to avoid notification of the sanctioning organizations for disciplinary action.
COGGINS TEST: Tennessee State Law requires that owners/agents of all horses on the
showgrounds must have proof of current negative coggins, and provide a copy of documents for
the Horse Show office and a copy with the horse at all times.
NON STABLING & GROUNDS FEES: There is a $40 fee for Horses without a stall and day haulers
that are competing in the show. There is a $40 per day fee for non-showing competitors that
ship into school their horse.
SCHOOLING: Tuesday there will be a ticketed warm up. dismounted, hand-walking may be
permitted before the show starts each day, AT MANAGEMENT’S DISCRETION.
HARD HATS: HARD HATS MUST BE WORN WHEN MOUNTED
POLING: NO MANUAL POLING OR OFFSETS ALLOWED ON BROWNLAND
FARM SHOWGROUNDS!
PARKING: All vehicles, including trailers, vans and campers, are prohibited from being parked in
the stable areas. Vans and trailers will be allowed in the stable areas only to load and offload.
PARKING AREAS ARE DESIGNATEd.
MOTORIZED VEHICLES GR1301.7
Minors who do not have a valid driver’s license which allows them to operate a motorized
vehicle in the state in which they reside will not be permitted to operate a motorized vehicle
of any kind including, but not limited to, golf carts, motorcycles, scooters, or farm utility
vehicles on the competition grounds of licensed competitions. Minors who have a valid
temporary license may operate the above described motorized vehicles as long as they are
accompanied by an adult with a valid driver’s license. Violations of this rule will be cause for
sanctions against the parent(s), guardian(s) and/or trainer(s) who are responsible for the child
committing the offense. Penalties may include exclusion of the child, parent(s), guardian(s),
and/or trainer(s) from the competition grounds for the remainder of the competition and
charges being filed against any of the above individuals in accordance with Chapter 6.
wheelchairs and other mobility assistance devices for individuals with disabilities are exempt
from this rule.
REFRIGERATORS: No refrigerators allowed in stable area.
DOGS: ZERO TOLERANCE FOR LOOSE DOGS. All dogs must be leashed. Any animal running
loose will be impounded by the show, owner identified and fined $100.00 per incident on the
show account. The owner of any dog which disrupts a competitor’s round in the ring will be
required to reimburse said competitor for their entry fees FOR THE ENTIRE dIVISION.
STARTERS, JUMP ORDERS AND CONFLICTS: A rotating jump order will, at management’s
direction, be established for jumping classes. Rings will not be held to wait for horses and/or
riders. Riders who anticipate a conflict must arrange their order of go so as to avoid causing a
delay. Trainer conflicts will not be recognized. Starters have the authority to scratch riders who
are untimely WITHOUT GOING THROUGH THE STEWARD OR SHOW MANAGER.
NON-SHOWING HORSES: Non-showing horses will be charged a non-showing fee of $100
per horse.
CAMPER HOOKUPS: Limited number available on grounds. The cost is $225.00 Must be paid
in advance. Assigned on a first paid, first served basis.
TURNOUT PADDOCKS: Limited number available. Cost is $225 for the entire week. Horses
may not be turned out without first contacting the stable supervisor and receiving your
paddock assignment. No more than one horse per paddock.
RADIOS: Barns who use hand held radios that are on the show radio frequency, or that
interfere with show radios in any way will be required to discontinue the use of their radios
during show hours.
FEED & BEDDING: Feed, Hay and Baled shavings will be available on the showgrounds and
may be charged to your horse’s account if an open check is left in the office. Bag shavings
may be ordered in advance by contacting the stabling supervisor. Pre-show orders will only
be delivered to pre-paid stalls. Management will not be responsible for loss of bedding before
arrival.
FOOTING AND RINGS: The footing is a mixture of limestone and sand. Three of the show rings
are 275’ by 135’, The Grand Prix ring is 330’ by 192’, Jumper ring is 300’ by 200’ . The
footing is the same in all rings.
PRIZE MONEY: Prize money will be applied to your horse’s account only. NO MONIES WILL BE
AWARDED TO OWNERS WHO HAVE NOT PROVIDED THE SHOW OFFICE WITH THEIR SOCIAL
SECURITY NUMBERS, ADDRESSES, AND A SIGNED W-9 FORM IF REQUESTED. PRIZE MONEY
WILL BE AWARDED WITHIN 30 DAYS OF THE CLOSE OF THE COMPETITION.

Jumper Division
Nomination Fee: $150
All horses competing in jumper class with prize money must be nominated. Declarations for
classes must be made no later than 1 hour after last jumper class is completed on the day
preceding. There are no scratch/add fees. Ties other than first place will be decided by the

Young Jumper Championships 2011 Entry Fee : $60 per class
The Young Jumper Championship has been organized to provide an opportunity for tomorrow’s
Grand Prix horses to compete in meaningful competition against their peers. Offered for five and
six year old horses that are recorded with the YJC. Horses not previously recorded may apply at
the show office for YJC recording upon presentation of the horse’s Breed Registration papers and
payment of the recording fee. Horses are then eligible to enter all YJC events during their five and
six year old career. Competing successfully in Qualifying Classes is a prerequisite for competing
in the League Finals of the YJC to be held on both the East and west Coasts in late summer.

Amateur Hunter 18-35 section and to the Adult Amateur Hunter 36 and over section.
Children’s Hunter: Children’s Hunter classes are for exhibitors under the age of 18 showing horses. To be judged on
performance, soundness, manners, way of going, and suitability. The Children’s Hunters section may be divided by age of
rider and/or height of fences. The Children’s Hunter section may be combined with the Children’s Hunter Pony section when
there are less than three entries in either section. Children’s Hunters are to be shown over fences at either 3’ or 3’3”. Riders
in this section may enter any Equitation class, but may not cross-enter into any Junior Hunter or Junior Jumper class at the
same show. Horses and ponies exhibiting in this section may cross enter multiple sections of Children’s Hunter and any
classes where eligible.

judged on performance, soundness, manners, way of going, and suitability. Suitability (size) of pony to rider is of particular
importance. The Small/Medium Children’s Hunter Ponies are to show over fences at 2’ and Large Children’s Hunter Ponies are
to show over fences at 2’6”. The section may be divided at managements’ discretion. The Children’s Hunter section may be
combined with the Children’s Hunter Pony section when there are less than three entries in either section. Rider age restrictions
as found in “Regular Pony” sections do not apply. Riders may show only one pony in either the 2’ or the 2’6” height of the
Children’s Hunter Pony section when also competing in the “Regular” Small, Medium or Large Pony and/or Green Pony Hunter
sections. Riders cannot cross enter into any class where fences exceed 3’3”. Exception: Riders may show in Pony Jumpers.
Ponies exhibiting in Children’s Hunter Pony may cross enter into any class where otherwise eligible but may not show the
same pony in the regular pony section. Note: The pony may only be shown by one rider in the Children’s Hunter Pony Classic
and that rider must be declared prior to the first round of the Classic. Points for Zone Awards earned in a hunter classic will be
awarded as follows: 35, 30, 25, 20, 15, 10, 6, 5. Ponies are not required to be jogged for soundness, but may be jogged at

Pre-Green Hunter: A Pre-Green Hunter is a horse of any age that has not competed in classes with fences of 3’ or higher, and
is in its first two years of showing in USEF rated divisions at Regular Member Competitions. Pre-Green Hunters are to be shown
over fences at either 3’ or 3’3”in height. To be judged on performance, soundness, manners, way of going, and suitability.
Fences at either 3’ or 3’3”. The Pre-Green Hunter section may be divided by height of fences and pinned as one section or
offered and pinned as two sections. Horses are not required to be jogged for soundness, but may be jogged at management’s
discretion. Points for Zone Awards earned in a hunter classic will be awarded as follows: 35, 30, 25, 20, 15, 10, 6, 5. Zone
Awards will be presented annually to both sections.
Adult Amateur Hunter/Children’s Hunter/Children’s Hunter Pony/Pre-Green Hunter Classic: Any USEF “A” “B” or “C” rated
competition which offers an Adult Amateur Hunter, Children’s Hunter, Children’s Hunter Pony or Pre-Green Hunter division may
also offer a corresponding Classic in accordance with HU146, with the following exceptions; 1.) Bonus points for Zone Horse
of the Year Awards will be awarded as follows: 1st - 35, 2nd - 30, 3rd - 25, 4th - 20, 5th - 15, 6th - 10, 7th - 6, 8th – 5;
2.) Entries may be jogged at management’s discretion; 3.) Riders are not required to wear formal attire; 4) $500 in money
is required. Exception Children’s Hunter Pony. 5.) Entry fee restrictions are inapplicable; and 6.) A Classic must be conducted
as a two round class. A designated class of the specified Hunter section may be counted as the first round of the Classic. The
second round of the Classic must not be a part of a Hunter section. Each round of a Classic is to count 50%. Classics may
be combined. Children’s/Adult Amateur Jumper: Open to horses and ponies. The rider is not eligible to compete in any jumper
class above 1.15m (3’9”) that offer prize money at the same show. Once a rider has competed in jumper classes over 1.15m
(3’9”) that offers prize money, the same rider cannot show in a Children/Adult Amateur Jumper class or classic offering $500
or more for 30 days. Fences at 1.10m or 3’6” to 1.15m (3’9”). Low Children’s/Adult Amateur Jumper: Open to horses and
ponies. Riders in Low Children’s/Adult Amateur Jumper may not cross enter into any classes held above 1.15m (3’9”) at the
same show. Horse/rider combinations may cross enter into the Children’s/Adult Amateur Jumpers at the same show, but not
on the same day as showing in the Low Children’s/Adult Amateur Jumpers. Horse/rider combinations may enter only one
classic, if both Low and High are offered. Fence height 1.00m (3’3”).
