Camden Spring Classic

We are enjoying the beautiful Carolina Spring weather here in
Camden, SC and had perfect blue skies and warm temperatures to
go along with our $15,000 USHJA International Hunter Derby and
Exhibitor’s Party. Show Day Café came into town to cater the
party and, oh, was the food fantastic! Due to the Easter Holiday
happening this weekend, the entries were few in the class, down
from 23 who competed last year, but it was certainly a class to
watch as we had some of the best Derby riders and horses in the
nation including powerhouse winning pair Kelley Farmer and
Mindful (Kensel LLC & David L Glefke)!
We also awarded the Sibby Wood Memorial Trophy for
Sportsmanship and were honored to have Judy Young as this
year’s recipient.
Don’t forget to check out The Tack Room’s amazing mobile unit
set up by the horse show office! We sincerely appreciate their
continued support which allows us to provide wonderful prizes
and special classes throughout the year. If you haven’t seen their
home base in Camden just a minute or two from the center of
town (just head north on 521), you are missing out!

Pavilion and we are ecstatic to have them as our Official Show

to the web, so make sure you stop by to view and purchase your
photos from the Camden Spring shows and look for them at the
Aiken Spring Classic as well!
BONHAM OVAL
Amateur Owner Hunters led off the “weekend” schedule in the Bonham Oval. Both rounds went to Annie Diehl and
her mount Cosil over Far Cry with Benita Cozzens in the first round and Trade Mark with Alexandra Dow in the handy
round. Caroline Weaver had a great day in the junior equitation classes taking top call in the WIHS Hunter Phase over
Kathleen Fritz and also winning the EJ Haun Memorial Medal over Maria Hackney. In the Junior Hunters, Grayanna
Grigg with her mount Beaujolais won the first round and were second in the handy round behind Emma Covington
and her mount Umberto. The under saddle class blue went to Hannah Pressler with Giovanni.
All Inclusive and Brenda Terry won both rounds of Adult Hunters over Ann Rice Ervin’s Briland with Hunter Kay and
Hunter took blue in the under saddle with Pauline Lampshire’s Lucca over Jana Phillips with Ricardo. Katherine
Dalberth won the NCHJA Children’s Medal over Carson Powell in second and Miranda Parker in third. Caroline Collier
and All Star won the first round of Children’s Hunters over East Coast Sporthorses’ All the Right Moves and Miranda
Parker and took second to Katherine Ballentine’s Rendezvous with Ellen Knight in the second round. Another blue
went to All Star and Caroline Collier in the under saddle, second went to Rendezvous with Ellen Knight and Miranda
Parker and All the Right Moves were third.
We had the two cutest Leadline riders before our Derby class and, of course, the judge couldn’t pick a winner so blues
went to Holston St. John who was riding Naia Tappa’s Debonair and also Colton Chester who was riding Christie
Moore’s Rollingwoods Sticky Buns.
Kelley Farmer and Mindful, from Kensel LLC & David L Glefke,
continued their domination of the hunter world by picking up a
win in the $15,000 USHJA International Hunter Derby over
Camden local, and renowned Derby rider Elizabeth Boyd who
took second with Pony Lane Farm’s Sterling.

JUMPER RING
Maria Hackney won the first blue in the jumper ring on Friday with a top call in the WIHS Jumper Phase over
Kathleen Fritz in second and Beverly Davis in third, and she also took the win the WIHS Overall with her mount Herr
Chico.
Isabella Cheers and Park Avenue continued their success from yesterday, topping the first .85m class and were
second in the second class to Laurel Tinney with Katherine Dalberth’s Jimmy Choo. Silko with owner Delaney
O’Connell won the .90m class over Jimmy Choo with owner Katherine Dalberth. Another blue went to Isabella
Cheers and Park Avenue in the 1.0m class where they won over Justified with owner Kelley Maloney. On Your
Honour and owner Abby Lockwood won both Pony Jumper classes.
Abby Lockwood rode Maryann Charles’ Marigot to the top in both Low Child/Adult Jumper classes over O’Hara with
Alex Rama in the first class and Wow with Cynthia Wilberding in the second class. In the High Child/Adult Jumpers,
the first round was won by Susie Fried with Highridge Farm’s Uranda over Zan Martin-Dillon with Otis and Christina
Couper won the second round with her mount Cora over HiHo Houdini with Grace Howard. Top call in the 1.20m
class went to Memphis in the Meantime with Loren Hazard-Daniel over Cymphony with Bailey Imbus.
HUNTER RING 2
Ruby Sloan handled the winning pony in the Small/Medium Pony Model, Peakewood Pharm’s Highlands Heaven Sent
over Rollingwoods Sticky Buns handled by Sabra Moore in second and Farnley Byron handled by Elizabeth Cram in
third. The Large Pony Model blue went to Debonair with owner Naia
Tappa and second went to Bracewood’s Sir Landon with Victoria Waugh.
Elizabeth Cram rode Catherine Cram’s Farnley Byron to the top in the
first round of Small/Medium Pony Hunters over sister Celia Cram and
Zola Thompson’s Mr. McGregor who topped the handy round. Ruby
Sloan and Highland’s Heaven Sent picked up another blue in the under
saddle class over Farnley Byron with Elizabeth Cram in second and Celia
Cram with Mr. McGregor in third. In the Large Pony Hunters, Debonair
and owner Naia Tappa (pictured left, PC: J. St. John) won the conformation
round as well as the under saddle class, with the blue in the handy round
going to Orion’s Diamond Ace with owner Jessica West.
The Green Pony Model blue ribbon went to Brownie Points, handled by
owner Lauren Sear, and second went to Sneaky Fox and owner Lucy
Thornhill. The Green Pony Hunter conformation round and under saddle class were both won by Sneaky Fox and
owner Lucy Thornhill over Belle Amie with owner Rawleigh Harris. Steel the Show and owner Gentry Safriet won the
second round over Sneaky Fox and Lucy Thornhill. In the first round of Pre-Adult Hunters, Carolyn Cheshire took
blue with her mount Fortune’s Turn over Winston with owner Tammy Cirillo. Barbara Edward’s Alchemist with Leigh
Ann Sharpe won the second round over Virginia Barnette and her mount Rigo Barcardi, and Alchemist was second to
Rigo Barcardi in the under saddle class.
It was a clean sweep of the Children’s Pony Hunters today with all
three classes being won by Angela Pollex’s Knock My Sox Off with
Theresa Tolar. The Short/Long Stirrup Equitation Flat class was won
by Brooke Russell over Lyles Addy. In the over fences, Brooke
Russell and Lyles Addy each received a first and second place and
the two ended up Champion and Reserve Champion respectively.
The Opportunity Walk/Trot classes ended the day in Hunter Ring 2
with Kendal Merrit and Champlain Kazoo winning two of the three
classes over Ella Tarumianz and Bubble Wrap who picked up a blue
in the second class.
