THE WARRENTON PONY SHOW “The Oldest Pony Show in America” Our 90th Year Spring 2009 Dear Exhibitors and Friends, The Ninetieth Annual Warrenton Pony Show will be held on June 24th through June 28th at the Warrenton Horse Show Grounds in Warrenton, Virginia. The Show is, as always, held to benefit a local charity. Again this year, the proceeds will go to the Fauquier County S.P.C.A. Last year we were able to donate $5,000.00 to the animal shelter. In 2007 we also donated $5,000. In 2006 we donated $7,000 to the S.P.C.A. in memory of Betty Maloney, the founder of the Association. Along with the check the Junior Committee donated gifts and supplies for the shelter—food, chew bones, toys, blankets, beds, etc. The Warrenton Pony Show, the Oldest Pony Show in America, is the only recognized show run by juniors eighteen years of age and younger. The Junior Committee operates under the supervision of the Warrenton Pony Show, Inc. Board of Directors—a group of local adult volunteers, some of whom are ex-members of the Junior Committee. The knowledge and practical experience we gain from producing this five-day “A” rated show are valuable in many ways. Helping to instill the importance of responsibility and community service are some of the lessons we learn. In 1999, the Board of Directors started a scholarship fund in memory of Puller Hughes, a long time friend and advisor of the Pony Show. This fund has allowed the Board to award college scholarships to deserving members of the Junior Committee. We would like to extend a very special “thank you” to all of our faithful sponsors and supporters who have kept the spirit and tradition of this show alive over the years. The Warrenton Pony Show Junior Committee Please patronize our advertisers and thank them for supporting The Warrenton Pony Show 2008 The Warrenton Pony Show Donates $5,000.00 to SPCA Members of the 2008 Warrenton Pony Show Junior Committee and the adult Board of Directors met at the animal shelter to present the check. The donation was made to officials of the S.P.C.A., Sally Tufts and Judy Hagerman. In 2007 they gave $5,000 and in 2006 the show was able to donate $7,000 to the shelter in memory of Betty Maloney, founder of the local S.P.C.A. In addition to the check the for $5,000 the Junior Committee, as usual, donated gifts and supplies to the shelter—food, chew bones, toys, January 8, 2009 Warrenton Pony Show Junior Committee P.O. I know all of you work very hard during the year preparing for the show and then at the show itself. Last year I attended with some shelter dogs and saw firsthand your enthusiasm and diligence. This donation will be used to provide food, shelter and kindness to the homeless animals of our community. We also thank you for the many boxes of dog biscuits that you brought with you. Good luck in your continued dedication to this Warrenton tradition and I look forward to seeing you at this year’s Pony Show. Executive Director Judith M. Hagerman December 31, 2008 Dear Warrenton Pony Show Members, On behalf of the Board of Directors of the Fauquier SPCA, I would like to thank the Warrenton Pony Show for the very generous donation of $5,000.00. Our intake facility is almost complete! It will house stray dogs and cats, and have twenty kennel runs. Your donation will make a difference in the lives of many homeless animals that we care for. Thank you again for your very generous gift and your continued support.
