Daily Highlights Aiken Spring Classic April 29, 2016 It was another fun social event day at the Aiken Classic Club in the Mary Ann Parmelee Memorial Pavilion! Many thanks to Fairy Tale Farms for their sponsorship of the Breakfast of Champions, which honors the owners, riders and trainers of the horses that have won Champion or Reserve Champion awards at this year’s show. The feature event on the Ovation Grand Prix Field was the $7,500 Aiken Saddlery Open Welcome Stake and the Exhibitor BBQ Party, sponsored by The Pink House Stables. Sun Tzu and owner Penny Brennan bested the field of 23, full results below! We had a great first Pony Derby, with a dozen entries competing. Erica Felder came out on top with Victoria Haynes’ Champlain Rowboat over Astro Boy with owner Elle Gibbs. Full results below. Modified Junior/Amateur Hunter: Herr Chico and owner Maria Hackney topped the first round over Grace Ann Nolan’s Agiato with Anna Claire Smith. The second round went to Roseberry and owner Mary Margaret Dodd over Hannah Pressler and Sublime. Becky Nuth’s Gold Coast and Ansley Johnson won the second round over Jean Bickley’s Ballerino with Susan Sisco. Rovaniemi was Champion and Ballerino took the Reserve. Modified Child/Adult Hunter: Hilary Baylor rode Naddel to the top of the first round over Grandeur with owner Madison Syfert who won the second round. Goodman and Drew Coster won the under saddle giving the pair enough for the Champion award. Grandeur and Madison Syfert were Reserve Champion. Take2 Thoroughbred Hunter: Janet Peterson’s Imperial Rest won boths rounds with Daniel Geitner riding. The wins today gave Imperial Rest the Championship over Annabelle Axinn’s Atticus who finished with the Reserve. Ariat Adult Medal: Brittany Wyatt won the class aboard Perfect Gentleman over Brooklin Kuipers. HUNTER RING 3 Baby Green Hunter: Virginia Milam’s Final Four won the first round with Mike Rosser up, over Montego with owner Merideth Bryans. Bryans was second with Montego in the next round behind Devon Walther’s Lannister with Mary Meghann Huitt. Final Four finished with the Champion award and Jordan Hattaway-Pereira and her mount Portrait of a Lady won the Reserve Championship. Hopeful Hunter: Roundabout and owner Terry Jones were the winners of the first class over November Hill’s Noelle and Daniel Geitner who won the second round as well as the Championship. Jean Bickley’s Ballerino was Reserve Champion. Schooling Pony Hunter: Willow Driver won the both rounds with her pony Millpond Starman over Bolero with owner McKayla Cates in the first round and Kayla Jacobs’ Chasing Chance with Elizabeth Cram in the second round. Cates took the top call in the under saddle with Bolero. Millpond Starman was Champion and Bolero took the Reserve Champion award.
