Critical joints demand not only validation and
documentation, but speed and accuracy. However,
tool cables limit smooth movement along the line
and cause access problems in cramped spaces.
Introducing Tensor STB, a new generation of nutrunners that have cut the cord – twice. First, they are
battery powered. Second, they use Industrial Radio
Communication (IRC) to give you full process control.
In other words, Tensor STB tools offer the same
benefits and zero-fault process control as Tensor ST
nutrunners – but without any strings attached.
One of a kind
There are, of course, other battery tools on the market.
However, no other battery-powered tool can offer
Atlas Copco’s unique fastening performance and
advanced process control.
Superior ergonomics
With no cord in the way, the operator works unhindered
in ergonomical positions which result in reduced operator fatigue. Another ergonomic advantage is that the
Tensor STB with battery is lighter than a cable based
nutrunner if the operator works with the tool above
the head.
All-round player
At a typical workstation, one Tensor STB tool can be
used for several applications within the same torque
range. In some applications you can use one Tensor STB
for both sides.
Higher productivity
Tensor STB offers genuine ergonomic advantages for
the operator which in turn raises individual productivity.

Better operator feedback
The operator is kept well informed by the tool. For
example, if a tightening error occurs the operator will
be alerted and can take immediate action, thereby
avoiding the expense of reworking.
IRC – industrial strength
Atlas Copco have developed special communication
technology that is designed for industrial environments.
Industrial Radio Communication (IRC), as we call it, is
based on Bluetooth 2.0.

IRC is also equipped with AFH (Adaptive Frequency
Hopping). With this spread-spectrum technology the
transceivers hop from one frequency to the next at
fixed time intervals. A major advantage of this design
is that it offers a more robust link, especially in noisy
environments.
IRC offers many benefits:
• Robust transference
• Low power consumption
• Adaptive Frequency Hopping (AFH)
• Long range (100 meters)
• Communication degrades gracefully at increasing
disturbance and recovers automatically.
Less parts in stock
Since no cables are required, there are no cables to keep
in stock. In addition to this, Tensor STB shares many of the
components and accessories used in Tensor ST. And by
eliminating dirty cables, your end-products remain clean.
The Tensor STB system
Tensor STB nutrunners require a Communication Kit
to work with Power Focus 3100 and Power Focus 4000
which consists of: a serial port adapter (access point)
and a cable connector (supplies the serial port adapter
with power).

Pairing the tool with the controller is quick and easy,
which makes the system flexible when an application
change is needed.
Power Focus 4000
The Power Focus 4000 is a new
generation of control systems suitable
for Tensor STB. Unlike its predecessor,
the Power Focus 3100, the Power Focus
4000 is available in one model with two
versions, Compact and Graph.
Power Focus has an integrated Logic
Configurator. This provides basic PLC
functionality as an integrated part of
the controller, without additional hardware components. You can now configure your ”PLC
style” signal flow between the line or the fixture and the
Power Focus 4000, thus the need for an interface PLC is
eliminated.

wheel airbag and side airbag curtain.

Stations with narrow spaces
No cord means free movement for operators which
is ideal for tightenings at instrumental panel, vertical bar, ground wire, secure battery, fuse box, side
impact sensor and the slide sensor.
