One of the oldest passenger ferries in Washington State, the Plover ferried cannery workers and townsfolk back and forth across the Harbor until 1964. Restored in 1997 to its original look, the ferry continues its historic route to the delight of visitors and locals alike. In June 1997, the National Park Service listed the PLOVER on the National Register of Historic Places. Only a handful of vessels are listed in this register in the State of Washington. The Plover ferry is certified by the US Coast Guard to carry 20 passengers and allows bicycles on a space available basis.
