Field Descriptions Field 1 School Name Field 16 Affiliation officially registered school name – not the colloquial name of the school This field indicates the affiliation or education system to which private and catholic schools belong. In the case of catholic schools you will find two classifications (CATHOLIC SYSTEMIC or CATHOLIC INDEPENDENT). Non-catholic private schools have a range of classifications based on their religion or education system (SDA, ANGLICAN, MONTESSORI, BRETHREN, etc). Field 2 School 2 aka Campus Name It is important to include the campus or department name in your address. Many schools have a Primary and a Secondary department on the same physical site, the campus name will ensure that your is properly routed within that school. Fields 3 to 6 This address group describes the physical address of the school and can be used for courier delivery or visits. This address should not be used for direct mail campaigns as it will not achieve a high match rate against the Australia Post postal address file for your postal discount. Fields 7 to 10 This address group describes the best possible address for direct mail campaigns. The address has been altered to achieve the highest possible compliance with address matching programs and includes variant addresses for school building property names. Fields 11 and 12 Phone and Fax These numbers are the general school contact numbers. In some cases a fax number may have been removed on direct request from selected nongovernment schools. Field 13 Principal’s Name Where available the principal’s name will be included. The principals name is teleresearched during Term 1 and 3 of the school year and may be the person Acting or Relieving in that position at the time of the census. Names are not included where the school has requested exclusion and this may be the majority of records. Names are updated constantly throughout the year. Field 14 School Level There are three classifications in this field, Primary, Secondary and SPECIAL. Middle schools are included in the Secondary grouping. A Combined school is one where there is a Primary and a Secondary school on the same physical campus. The grade range indicators will show the grades taught on the campus. Field 15 School Types Field 17 Email Email addresses are the generic school contact address. In some cases government school generic email addresses have been removed where they have proved to be consistently undeliverable. You must check the Spam Act and your own legal responsibilities before using email addresses. While the addresses are the correct, advertised school addresses this does not mean that an email to that address will be delivered. Field 18 URL School website address where know. Fields 19 and 20 School Codes This field will indicate the school number or code assigned by the State Departments of Education or private system. This is not a unique number and is n ot available for all school types. Field 21 School Gender This field shows whether a schools is single gender (BOYS or GIRLS) or coeducational (COED). In some private schools classes up to year 2 may be coeducational and senior years may also be coeducational. In these cases the school record will indicate the predominant gender. Field 22 Enrolment Classification The actual enrolment at a schools may vary from week to week so we have classfied schools in enrolment bands (see table above for the bands). Enrolment Classification: A=<20 pupils B=21-50 C=51-100 D=101-200 E=201-300 F=301-400 G=401-500 H=501-600 I=601-700 J=701-800 K=801-900 L=901-1000 M=>1001 S = All Special Schools (Enrolment Usually fewer than 150 Pupils). Fields 24 and 25 Low Year and High Year Field 32 Socioeconomic Index Actual This field will indicate the lowest and highest year taught at a particular campus. The codes are numeric, the non-number codes are: K= Kindergarten R=Reception T=Transition I=Infants P=Preschool S=Special PY = QLD Preparatory Year This field indicates SES score for non-government schools upon which DEEWR allocates funding. A high score indicates high fee based (more well off) schools, and a lower score indicates a low fee, usually community based school. Other codes in this field other than numeric SES scores are: Field 26 Metro/Country This field will show METRO or COUNTRY where the postcode of a school indicates that it is in either zone. The zone is based on Australia Post delivery areas. Special = recognised Special School receiving automatic entitlement to maximum funding. Fields 27 and 28 Diocese and Education District SAS = recognised Special Assistance School receiving automatic entitlement to maximum funding. These fields show the catholic diocese into which a catholic school is located, or the State government education district for government schools. Field 29 LGA This field will show the local government area for the school. This determination is made by using the postcode of the school and may not be a precise physical locator where postcode and LGA boundaries conflict. Field 30 Australian Standard Geographical Classification (ASGC) Remoteness Area The Australian Standard Geographical Classification (ASGC) is a hierarchical classification system of geographical areas and consists of a number of interrelated structures. The Remoteness Structure with the Remoteness Areas (RA) is one of these. The data are matched on a POA (postcode) basis so you will find the occasional variation due to postcode overlaps. This field is meant to be used as a guide. Field 31 Socioeconomic Index Implied This field indicates socioeconomic status ranking of a geographic area based on the community’s financial ability to support a local school. The figure is calculated as an average of the information elements collected by the ABS and DEEWR and refer to specific census collection districts and statistical local areas. The index will provide you with a rank of those schools in well off area (a high score) and those in a less well off area (those with a low score). This does not necessarily mean that a “well off” school is located in a “well off” area nor vice versa but is a reflection of the households in that area. List Marketing | Mail Processing | Postage Discounts | Printing Call 1800 88 MAIL (6245) [email protected] | www.intellimail.com.au MISS = Majority Indigenous Student School receiving automatic entitlement to maximum funding in the particular program year. Field 34 CRICOS Shows the CRICOS registration number for those schools who are registered to offer courses for overseas/international students. Field 35 Unique Record Number This number is assigned to a record by Intellimail International and can be used to match older versions of our database against a new version.
