NASA Selection process
We have finally made our selection, after a gruelling application process we have
chosen our NASA applicants. All six of the applicants this year were fantastic and
we were thoroughly impressed, which made the final decision all the more
challenging. Congratulations to Amy Degg, Isiah Rudkin and Raazi Karim who
consistently demonstrated their ambition and passion to secure their place on the
trip. The applicants had to go through a serious of rigorous steps before the final
interview, which included: 





A written application
A fitness test (like a real astronaut!)
Deliver a session to year 6’s
Deliver a 30 minute lesson to year 7’s
Fund raising activities
A daunting interview
During the October half term these 3 budding scientists will go to Houston in
Texas for a week with other members from the Aspirations Academies to see
NASA and spend time with influential people who have made careers out of
science. It’s the opportunity of a life time, make sure you look out for next year’s
applicants and if you are in year 11 it could be you!
Banbury Academy - Prom
Prom at
Heythrop Park on Friday 26th June
Tickets cost £30
Banbury Academy hosted the Banbury Area Year 3 and 4 Tennis Festival on
Thursday 30 April. 23 Year 9 and 10 leaders did a fantastic job of leading 62
children through fun games and skill practices before running a tournament for
them.
The overall results were extremely close
with just a couple of points between each
team. The final results saw Queensway
take fourth place, Orchard Fields take
third, Hanwell Fields take second with
Dashwood claiming the top spot. The
standard of tennis was very high and we
wish Hanwell Fields and Dashwood good
luck for the North Oxfordshire Schools
Sport Partnership Final which take place on 17 June. Emma Jackson (School
Games Organiser) was so impressed with our Young Leaders that she has
invited them to umpire at the finals.
Well done and good luck to all the leaders - Chris, Liam, Callum, Luke, Ollie,
David, Oriarna, Yugurthen, Luke, Georgia, Rebecca, Matthew, Lilly, Liam, Ellie,
Saffie, Sam, Gabby, Olivia, Leah, Leah, Jess and Addison.

GCSE PE Revision
Tia triumphs again!
Having won the U14 District Cross Country
Finals in November, Tia represented ‘Team
North’ at the Oxfordshire Sainsbury’s
School Games Cross County Finals on 17
April. Tia had another very strong race and
finished in a superb second place. This
really is a fantastic achievement and we are
