Comisión Federal de Electricidad Combined Cycle Power Plant Empalme II According to the CFE’s growth forecast, the demand for electricity in Northwestern region of Mexico will grow on average, 3.6% annually. In order to meet the demand and maintain regional reserve margins at the appropriate levels, it is intended to build the Empalme II combined cycle. The project is located in Empalme, Sonora. This project will consist of a power plant with 683 MW of capacity under summer design conditions, under Financed Public Works (OPF) plan. This central plant could have the following configurations: (i) module comprising three gas turbines, three heat exchangers and one steam turbine; or (ii) module consisting of two gas turbines with two heat exchangers and one steam turbine. Project Details: The project includes the engineering and the supply of all equipment and materials, spare parts and special tools, all testing activities and the commission, as well as an electrical substation. The combined cycle will operate with natural gas, which will be provided by the CFE. The estimated project implementation period is 31 months.
