A Day at the Races @ the Del Mar Race Track
Saturday, August 3rd 2013

Just like last year, this is looking to be a great event! Your buddies at the Mercedes
-Benz Club of America, San Diego Section have obtained a select number of
“Reserved Seats” in the Club House at the beautiful Del Mar Race Track. This is a
great opportunity to meet up with your Mercedes-Benz Club friends in a completely
different environment. (Because there is more to life than just cars!) Just a bunch of
Mercedes-Benz owners getting to know each other better, sharing stories, having a
few drinks, a few laughs, and if you’re lucky… maybe even winning a buck or two.
(Oh, and by the way… it’s gourmet Food Truck Day)! We will be meeting for brunch
nearby before the races to give you your passes and have a bit of fun.
Each ticket is $20 and includes Clubhouse admission, reserved seating and official
racing program. Seating is limited so don’t miss out on a great day of horse racing
with your pals!

NATIONAL CITY AUTOMOBILE
HERITAGE DAY

The National City Show is on August 4th this year. This is a very nice show with a great selection of interesting vehicles on display. As usual there is a class just for
Mercedes-Benz with our own designated parking area. We are encouraging all the members of the MBCA to come out and join us. If you are new to the MBCA this is a great opportunity to meet other members of the Club. If you are a long time member then it’s a
great opportunity to get together and visit with friends. The entry fee is $ 30.00 before July
15 and this includes one t-shirt. Additional t-shirts may be purchased for $10.
All Mercedes-Benz are invited to participate, but only 1984 and earlier vehicles are legible for judging and trophies. Check the “G” box in the application form.
NOTE: Due to cost restraints, there will not be a parade this year.
I am looking forward to seeing you there...
Section President’s Message
This month is Monterey and car shows. The car show highlight of the year is upon us:
Monterey Concourse D’Elegance and Legends of the Autobahn are this month. I will be
going up to Legends, my black 500SEL AMG is entered and this time I will wash it first, not
like StarFest 2012. There has been talk of caravanning up there. I am not a big fan, as I
don’t have the time to take two days off work to travel up, but if anyone is either wanting to
caravan or is organizing a caravan if they can let me know then I can inform all parties etc.
There is also the National City Automotive Heritage Day on the first Sunday which is the
day after our Section horse racing event at Del Mar, so August is a busy month.
September we are organizing a beach bonfire on the 14th. Plans are not set yet, but it
will probably be at Fiesta Island around 7:00pm on that Saturday.
Also, September is Board Election month so I am looking for people who are willing to
join the Board to help run and coordinate this Section. So if you are interested in being
part of the Board please feel free to contact me or Mike Cooper (Vice President).
Till September, remember Mercedes-Benz cars like and need to be driven so drive
yours soon.

As I and a few other San Diego Section members are heading to the Legends of the
Autobahn event, I am planning an informal no-host event at a yet to be decided bar or
restaurant in downtown Monterey on Friday evening.
If you are going to be at Monterey and are at a loose end on Friday evening, feel free to
send me an e-mail so I can arrange to send out an e-mail update to everyone interested
