The 18th Annual Auction of Wine, Travel, Entertainment
and Culinary Treasures to benefit Maymont
Tradition, Uncorked.
Good evening and welcome to the 18th annual Vintage Maymont auction.
Tonight, we invite you to celebrate the Dooleys’ extraordinary gift of
Maymont and be inspired to carry on their spirit of generosity.
In 2016, we will mark the 90th anniversary of Maymont opening its gates to
the public. The Dooleys’ bequest was just the first of many acts of kindness
to make Maymont a cherished place for all. So many generous individuals,
families and organizations, including friends with us tonight, have made the
Dooleys’ estate into a beloved Richmond treasure.
The last nine decades at Maymont have
seen enhancements like the wildlife
exhibits, the Robins Nature & Visitor
Center and Raptor Valley where our
children and grandchildren can discover the
wonders of the natural world. Meticulous
care and restorations have made possible
the estate’s designation as a National
Register Historic Place and Virginia Historic
Landmark, protecting exquisite one-of-a-kind artifacts. The beautifully
planted gardens are some of the most photographed places in the region
and the venue for countless wedding celebrations each year.
It all may look like it happens by magic, but we know better. Maymont
opens its gates, admission-free, to well over half a million guests each year,
and that gift to the community is made possible by your contributions and
fundraising activities like Vintage Maymont.
You—our guests, donors, patrons and volunteers—have already shown
tremendous support by being here tonight and so have the hundreds of
businesses and individuals who provided an amazing array of items for bid.
Please help us thank our donors by patronizing their establishments and
telling them that you appreciate their contributions to this event.
Now we need your active participation to generate excitement and
successfully achieve our fundraising goals. Raise your paddles high and often
to show your support. Find a treasure in the auction that will bring you back
to Maymont. And let’s ensure that Maymont remains a place of joy and
wonder for young and old alike for the next nine decades and many more.
Gratefully,
Melissa and Mark Christian & Sarah and Bruin Richardson, Co-Chairs
And the entire Vintage Maymont Committee

CONDITION S OF S ALE
Virginia Wine Auction Regulations
Conditions
In Virginia, all wine sales fall under the regulations of the
Alcoholic Beverage Control Board. Accordingly, private sales
are prohibited and auctioned amounts on certain lots are full
donations to benefit Maymont Foundation.
All items are sold “as is.” All sales are considered final. No
refunds will be available and merchandise may not be
exchanged. No substitutions may be made on packages.
Neither the auctioneer nor Maymont Foundation makes
any warranties or representations of any kind or nature
with respect to the items. In no event shall either be held
responsible or liable for the correctness of the catalog
or other descriptions, verbal or written, or for any
representation or warranty with respect to the condition,
quality or rarity of any item. Please note italicized restrictions
on auction items. Additional restrictions may be noted on
individual certificates.
Auction Items
The Vintage Maymont committee reserves the right to
withdraw any item at any time before the actual sale. Unless
otherwise announced by the auctioneer at the time of
sale or noted in the addendum sheet, all bids are per lot as
numbered in the printed catalog.
Payment
Payment in full is due the night of the auction, October
23, 2015. We accept MasterCard, Visa, American Express,
Discover, personal check or cash. All wine sales will be
processed through Barboursville Vineyards and will show up
as a separate charge on your credit card statement. Note:
sales tax must be paid on all wine and is not included in the
purchase price.
Purchaser’s Risk
The auctioneer shall be absolutely and forever immune
from any and all liability concerning any personal injuries
or property damage occurring before, during or after the
auction, no matter the cause.
Silent Auction
Silent auction items have a minimum bid and minimum
incremental increases as noted on the bidsheet. A “BUY IT
NOW” price will be set on all silent auction items. Simply
write in your bid number and the noted price.
Live Auction
For live auction items, the auctioneer sets the opening
bid at the time of sale. If the auctioneer determines that
any opening bid is not commensurate with the value of
the item offered, the auctioneer may reject the bid and
withdraw the item from sale, and if having acknowledged
an opening bid, the auctioneer decides that any advance
thereafter is not sufficient, he may reject the advance. The
auctioneer reserves the right to reject a bid from any bidder.
The highest bidder acknowledged by the auctioneer will
be the purchaser. In the event of doubt on the part of the
auctioneer as to the validity of any bid, the auctioneer will
have the sole and final discretion either to determine the
successful bidder or to re-offer and resell the lot in question.
If any disputes arise after the sale, the Vintage Maymont
sales records will be conclusive in all respects.
Wine Bottle Sizes
750 ml = 1 regular bottle
Magnum (1.5 liters) = 2 regular bottles
Double Magnum (3 liters) = 4 regular bottles
