2. Product Overview
The PL-2305 integrated circuit provides a bi-directional bridge between the Universal Serial Bus (USB)
system and IEEE-1284 parallel port printers. It is designed to be a flexible, high performance, and lowcost single-chip solution for USB cable as well as USB ready peripheral manufacturers.
Note: For Windows 2000 and above OS Family, Microsoft follows IEEE 1284 Specification to
support standard driver bundled in Windows. When you plug in the USB-to-Printer cable,
Windows OS will automatically detect the cable device and will install the needed driver. The
USB-to-Printer cable will appear as “USB Printing Support”. You do not need to manually install
any separate driver.

11. Mac OS X Snow Leopard 10.6 Compatibility Test
The PL-2305 Controller is tested to be compatible with the Mac OS X Snow Leopard 10.6 using HP
LaserJet 6L printer. PL-2305 also uses Mac OS inbox printing driver so there is no need to install a
proprietary driver. You just plug the cable and Mac OS will detect the cable immediately.
