Artists in the Schools
AITS is a grant program that supports the placement of
professional artists in the classroom, grades K-12, for
curriculum-based performances, workshops and residencies.
AITS provides artists from the genres of music, dance, writing,
theatre, visual arts, storytelling, and multi-disciplinary arts,
giving students tools of learning and cultural enhancement not
available from any other source.
The Johnston County Artists in the Schools Program is
modeled after the Artists in the Schools program of the United
Arts Council of Raleigh and Wake County and is supported by
services provided by United Arts.
This project is supported in part by an award from the National
Endowment for the Arts.
A Message from the President…
e arts are an important part of our heritage,
culture and daily lives and should be encouraged,
supported, honored and cherished throughout
Johnston County. e Arts Council supports
opportunities for theatre groups, visual artists, dance
troupes, musical events and literary efforts for all its
citizens through grants, partnerships and Johnston
County Arts Council sponsored events. A donation
to the JCAC shows your support for the future of
the arts in our area.
