ABOUT MOULDINGS
MOULDINGS are used to decorate a room by lending their decorative patterns to enhance
doorways, windows, ceilings, walls, etc. Mouldings can be an extension of one’s creative ideas or
concepts giving an unlimited amount of uses to each and every item. Each individual’s ideas are
unique and personal and can be an expression of one’s own taste and style that lend a home or
office a special look and feel.
BACKBANDS are used to add more overall width and depth on the outer edge of casings.
Backbands can be used on all doors and windows, on doors only and not on windows, or can be
used in rooms that are carrying more detail within a home. Backbands also help make
transitions between casings and wainscot details.
BASEBOARDS are used where the wall joins the floor. Many of the Panel Mouldings will also
make two-piece Baseboard applications. These are excellent when turned upside-down and used
with Cornice Mouldings to form larger Crown details.
CASINGS are used to trim around doors and windows (door mouldings can show more mass than
windows). Casings can also be used as larger Chairrails, or upper horizontal linear banding
around rooms.
CHAIRRAILS are used approximately 30” to 40” from the floor, running horizontally to form
a “wainscot” look. Chairrail Mouldings can also be used as Panel Mouldings to form panels on
walls or ceilings. For larger Chairrails, use Casings with Backbands.
CROWN AND CORNER MOULDINGS are used where the wall joins the ceiling. These can be used
alone and will reveal tremendous depth. Cornice Mouldings can also be built up using Lineal
Mouldings, Baseboards, Casings, Chairrails, or Panel Moulding with taller ceilings. LCD’s (Large
Combination Details) are two or more pieces of White River mouldings installed together to create
a unique, large detail.
DOOR HEADERS AND TOP CAPS are used to form a pediment above door and / or window
openings. They run horizontally either on top of mitered Casings to give height to the
opening or they run horizontally at the head jamb of an opening with Casing dying into the
27/32” flat bottom. Door headers can be used in fireplace applications (as wide Casings or
Base).
FLEXIBLE RESIN MOULDINGS are available to accommodate both convex and concave
applications. All stock or custom crowns can be made to match any wall radius or curve. Flexible
Resin Casings provide simple solutions to all types of curved openings. From Elliptical to Halfround, Eyebrow to Oval, resin mouldings are available for all stock or custom profiles.
LINEAL MOULDINGS are used in horizontal runs in Crowns, Chairrails, upper Frieze applications
and to form panels on ceilings or walls.
PANEL MOULDINGS are used to form panels on walls or ceilings or used in built-up Cornice
applications. Panel Mouldings can also be used as smaller Chairrails or used as Baseboard caps,
to form two-piece Baseboards.
BASE BLOCKS are used where the Baseboard dies into the Casing at doorways. They blend into
many styles of design.
PLINTH BLOCKS are used at the top of casings on each corner. Casing is butt jointed into
bottom of Rosette.

VALUFLEX™ & Superflex
The highest quality urethane flexible molding and
reproduction for the discriminating customer.
Valuflex™ and Superflex are composed of the same ingredients,
however, Valuflex™ has more added fillers to reduce its cost.
Superflex is strongly recommended for all crown applications.
Superflex comes with a warranty against cracking or splitting, is
stronger than Valuflex,™ and is the highest quality flex available.
VALUFLEX™
FLEXIBLE
MOULDINGS
The benefits of Valuflex™ and Superflex are as follows:
1) More flexibility which creates less stress when curved or bent.
Less stress means less chance of cracking or splitting in the future.
2) Matches wood profiles better with less shrinkage.
3) Better definition of detail.
4) Paints or stains beautifully.
5) Superflex comes with a limited 5 year warranty against cracking or splitting.
CURVED
APPLICATIONS
Flex curved parts
are available for all
patterns shown.
TO PAINT
1) Fill and sand like wood, using a filler that will adhere to an oil based man-made product.
2) Apply 2 base coats of enamel water-based paint as an underbody. This seals the resin! Oilbased paint may not dry on urethane if these directions are not followed.
Do not apply oil base or standard primers as undercoaters.
3) Apply Latex Enamel or oil-based enamel paint to finish like other wood mouldings.
TO STAIN
1) Fill and sand like wood, using a filler that matches stain color and will adhere to an oil-based
man-made product.
2) Valuflex™ may be stained with any typical oil base stain. On Valuflex™ (Urethane Flex) apply a
pre-packaged “Base Coat Latex Glazing Liquid”. Many manufacturers offer these specific
finishes for this purpose. After applying, wipe gently with a clean cloth. Reapply color until
desired depth of color is achieved.
3) After the glaze has been wiped to the desired appearance, it must be allowed to dry and then sealed
with the same top coat being used on the wood.
4) We strongly recommend that first time users practice on a piece of scrap flex moulding before
finishing the moulding being used on the job.
2
BMS acknowledges that there are many techniques
to finishing man-made products, and express no warranty for such.
ACCESSORIES
General Information:
VALUFLEX™
• All profiles can be reproduced in flexible moulding. Superflex, the highest quality flex
available, is recommended for all crown applications or tight radius applications.
• Valuflex™ and Superflex have been formulated for a strong tear strength. Valuflex™
is recommended on all flexible moulding applications for base and casing.
• Custom profiles are available and made to order.
FLEXIBLE
MOULDINGS
Valuflex™:
• Flexible moldings are sold in straight and preformed pieces. Straight pieces are used for
standard base, chair rail and jamb applications. Casings, crowns and build-up
applications require preformed pieces. Preformed pieces are achieved by providing
precise measurements, radius or a template. Preformed pieces only have a variance of
approx. 1” to 2” hence the importance of precise information. Curved crown applications,
by far the most diverse, require a few simple rules of thumb (see easy ordering) to easily
accomplish a perfect fit without stressing the material. A Build-up is several pieces of
moldings put together to make a more dramatic application.
• Easy Ordering: The smallest radius a part can be made is the width of the profile times
3. (ex. a 4-1/2” wide crown’s smallest radius is 13-1/2” - (4-1/2” width x 3)
CASING APPLICATIONS
CROWN APPLICATIONS
IMPORTANT. Please include drawing of how crown is being installed. It is necessary to know how it
will be installed in order for the Flex to match installation.
Directions of how to get a radius of a Dome Wall:
Take a straight board and walk towards
wall until both ends touch the wall.
Measure center distance from board to
wall. By simply supplying us the 2
measurements:
1) length of board used
2) center rise (from board to wall)
measurement, we can determine the
radius of the wall.
334M VERMONT BASE
Ordering crown is as easy as any
1. Choosing Pattern.
2. Finding radius or providing
height and width measurements.
3. Establishing if radius is inside
(concave-ISR) or outside
(convex-OSR).
4. Establishing which way crown is
to be installed (see diagram).

White River Embossed moulding gives
profiles a beautifully subtle ornamental
look beyond standard mouldings. All of
the embossed profiles are available in
Poplar and come in mixed bundle
lengths of 3' - 16'. Some profiles are
also available in Oak.
Embossed mouldings are created by
pressing a pattern into the wood by
altering the wood fibers. All patterns
are available in stock for immediate
delivery.
Over the past few years, mouldings have
finally been recognized for the beauty
and elegance they can create.
Embossed mouldings have become very high end and used to enhance
bookshelves, cabinetry, mirrors and many
areas beyond the usual mouldings in a
home.
Put your creativity to work - you'll be
pleased with the results.
The only drawbacks to Embossed moulding
is the multiple lengths 3' - 16'. Custom
milling is available for other hardwoods
such as Cherry, Mahogany, Maple, etc.
Please call for quotes on special milled
items.

The splendor and beauty of this line easily
rivals or surpasses the most exotic, highest
cost hardwood mouldings in the world, at
surprisingly affordable prices.
This opulent line is the grandest offering yet
from White River. Classical, artfully rendered
designs will grace the appearance of that
special room, achieving a new dimension in
design finesse.
Mon Reale is fine-grained overlay material
contoured to traditional hardwood to create
a moulding of unusual elegance. The depth
of detail provides much greater degree of
definition than that found in our popular
ornamentally embossed mouldings to create
a
look
of
surpassing
elegance.
Discriminating Architects, Interior Designers
and Decorators can look forward to crafting
new levels of aesthetics in their most
important projects for their most refined
clients.
Comparing Mon Reale with other similar
types of mouldings, its machined overlay
exhibits more relief and detail than
machine-carved hardwood mouldings and
at a much more reasonable price. (The
machine-carved items can easily run up to
$25.00 per lineal foot!).
Versus plastic or foam products, Mon Reale
features much more definition and
crispness of detail, plus it comes in longer
lengths. That, plus precision machining,
makes for significantly easier installation
than plastic or foam. And don’t forget Mon
Reale is stain-grade! Try staining plastic.

Exceptional quality and attention to detail...Genuine Wood Hand Carvings offer the beauty and
design of traditional and original wood carvings produced by Master Hand Carvers at an
affordable price. These hand carvings are produced from Limewood or Lindenwood, a wood
that has been used for centuries by master carvers. It carves “like butter”, creating sharp details
and smooth surfaces. For amazing interior design results, these Genuine Wood Hand Carvings
can be used alone or combined to create original cabinetry, door mantles, fireplace mantles,
and ceiling and wall panels.
Included in our carving selection along with Genuine Wood Hand Carvings, are machine wood
carvings. Machine carvings offer an even less costly solution for the budget minded. To
distinguish each offering, all items that are hand carved, begin with an “HC” & machine carved
items begin with a “C”.
All wood carvings can be stained, painted or glazed to create any finish look you desire.
All items are in stock and available for immediate shipment.
“A picture is worth a thousand words” is not the case here. Seeing really is believing the
exceptional quality and craftsmanship of these carvings and all at very affordable prices!
Please note all sizes are approximate and are stated by Depth (or thickness) x Height x Width.
FINISHING:
1. Stain-and-Clear Finish:
a. The first coat should be a stain-and-sealer, which will both color and
seal the surface. Choose an alkyd resin-based. Do not alter or thin.
Never use a lacquer-based toner or any other lacquer-based finish.
b. The second coat may be a solvent-borne (oil-based, alkyd resin-based,
polyurethane resin-based) or water-borne (latex resin-based) clear finish,
unaltered. Be sure this coat is compatible with the first coat.
2. Paint Finish:
Seal products with a quality oil-based primer and no fewer than two top coats
of a solvent-based or latex resin-based paint, unaltered/unthinned.
You should consult your paint dealer for the finish systems best suited for use
in your region. We recommend that you select top quality paint.
All top, bottom and side edges must be coated with each and every coat that is applied to the
face surfaces. All surfaces must be treated equally to assure uniform moisture exposure
dimensional control.

HB&G COLUMNS & PORCH
SYSTEMS
HB&G Columns and Porch Systems are
available in both wood and PermaCast™, a
fiber reinforced polymer composite. We
carry in stock, a large selection of plain
and fluted wood and PermaCast columns
as well as PermaCast Porch Railings
Systems.
Weather resistant, insect proof and
requiring low to no maintenance, PermaCast
products come with a limited Lifetime
Warranty. HB&G’s commitment to
architecturally correct detailing, enormous
selection, extraordinary service and superior
quality has made them one of our nations
leading manufacturers in their field.
Wood columns provide a less costly
alternative to PermaCast. Wood columns are finger-jointed and may have raised
grains and not be perfectly smooth and paint ready. This downside to wood columns is
deemed acceptable by all manufacturers of wood columns. It is our recommendation
that the additional work required for sanding & prepping wood products does not offset
the cost savings of wood over PermaCast. We strongly advise that with PermaCast’s
Limited Lifetime Warranty, ease of installation and superior quality, PermaCast is a
better choice for interior and exterior use.

ARCHITECTURALLY CORRECT
COLUMNS
In the first century B.C., Vitruvius, a Roman
architect and engineer, wrote what has become
the most influential work on classic form.
In it he elaborates on the discovery by the
Ancient Greeks of entasis, a gradual tapering of
the upper two-thirds of the column which offsets
the undesirable illusion from eye level that the
column shaft grows larger as it ascends.
CAPITALS & BASES
Tuscan style capitals as well as the five orders
of ornamental capitals also follow the guidelines of
Greek and Roman architects. Attic bases, copied
from those of ancient Attica, are also available.
PLAIN & FLUTED
PermaCast columns are available plain or fluted
in the widest variety of sizes in the industry. See
chart for details. Deep, sharp flutes and
smooth, easy to finish surfaces set
PermaCast apart from all other columns.
LIFETIME WARRANTY
HB&G warrants that
for the “lifetime” of
ownership the PermaCast
column is free from
defects in material and
workmanship. “Lifetime“
means as long as the
purchaser owns the
structure to which the
PermaCast columns are
attached. Upon proper
installation of the column,
HB&G will repair or
replace, at its option, any
PermaCast column that
has failed as a result of
defective material or
workmanship of HB&G.
Installation cost not
included.
NO TAPER
PermaCast columns
are cast from a
proprietary fiberreinforced polymer
composite with
exceptional strength-toweight characteristics and
requiring minimum
maintenance. They are
weatherproof, insectproof and highly durable.

SQUARE
VERSATILITY
PERMACAST
The design and
versatility of a square
COLUMNS
column has enhanced
its popularity with
today’s architects. Generally constructed in the
field from wood components, any style can be
accomplished using different panel molding, neck
molding, capitals, and bases. HB&G has taken this
process one step further with the Square
PermaCast column. Design versatility is now
accomplished with ease of installation and a
“lifetime warranty”.

Square PermaCast columns, caps and bases
are made in the same manner and of the same
material as round PermaCast. The neck mold is
applied at the time of installation, and is furnished
as a single piece of moulding packed inside the
column shaft. Panel molding for applying to the
shaft of the column is also
available.
Square PermaCast
columns are not tapered and
can be cut to any length
without affecting the fit of
the caps and bases.
Ornamental capitals and
Attic Bases shown for round
columns are also available for
square columns. When using
poly-ornamental capitals, no
plug is required. The column
shaft bears the load and the
neck mold is simply applied
to accommodate the capital
style being used. See neck
mold placement below.
PAINTING
Painting instructions for
round and square PermaCast
columns:
• Prime with top quality
exterior latex primer, or use
an oil-based primer. A light
coat of primer should be
applied and allowed to cure
fully.
• Paint evenly with several
light coats over column with
a high quality exterior latex
or oil-base (if oil primer is
used).
• Do not paint PermaPorch
columns using dark colors
(dark colors are considered
any color that falls within the
L value of
56 to 0). L is a measure of
lightness of an
object and ranges
from 0 (black) to
100 (white).

ORDERING AND INSTALLATION TIPS:
CAPITALS AND BASES
Capitals and bases for PermaCast columns are
decorative. The shaft fits through the center of the
capital and base and does not alter the height of the
shaft. Several options are offered for PermaCast
columns.
Colonial cap
Tuscan Cap
TUSCAN CAPITAL AND BASE
The Tuscan style is standard and best compliments
the PermaCast column. Tuscan is available for all
ROUND and SQUARE PermaCast shafts.
ORNAMENTAL CAPITAL
Five styles of ornamental capitals are available for
all ROUND AND SQUARE shafts. Nothing makes a
statement like a PermaCast column with an
ornamental capital.
Using an ornamental capital with a ROUND
PermaCast shaft will alter the height of the shaft (see
chart on page 32). Ornamental capitals do not alter
the height of the shaft when used on a SQUARE
PermaCast (see chart on page 32).

COLONIAL CAPITAL AND BASE
Referred to as our "economy" capital and base
the Colonial is approximately 1/2 the size as the
Tuscan. It does not provide architecturally correct
dimensions and should only be used when asthetics
are not a priority. Only available for ROUND
PermaCast shafts 8" - 12".
✔ When ordering an ornamental capital order the
appropriate base for the column.
✔ Ornamental capitals for square PermaCast slide
over the shaft and do not use a plug. These
ornamental capitals will not lengthen or shorten
the height of the column.
✔ Insure exact opening measurement prior to
ordering column length.
✔ When installing a PermaCast column, insure
concentric loading of column. 100% of bottom
must contact substrate and 75% of top must
contact soffit.
✔ When attaching hand rails or corner iron to
PermaCast columns, holes must be pre-drilled
before applying screws.
✔ When ordering panel molding for square
PermaCast column, make sure to order enough
for four sides of column.
✔ Do not paint PermaCast columns using dark colors
(dark colors are considered any color that falls
within the L value of 56 to 0). L is a measure of
lightness of an object and ranges from 0 (black) to
100 (white).

PermaCast Columns
Adding an ornamental capital to a round
PermaCast column will lengthen or shorten the
overall height of the column depending on the
height of the capital.
Subtract the “T”
dimension (from the
PermaCast
dimensions chart on
page 2) and add the
height of the
ornamental capital
+/- 1/4” for overall
column height.
Adding an ornamental capital to a square
PermaCast column DOES NOT change the
length of the column shaft. The ornamental
capital simply
slides over the
shaft. Neck
molding can be
applied or not.

COLUMNS
At HB&G, we’ve served the building industry with
high-quality products since 1880. We are in fact
pioneers in column manufacturing, with specially
engineered, patented production machinery,
producing round and square
columns, both plain and fluted.
Wood columns are
ROUND FJ
a less costly
solution than
PINE
PermaCast,
however, wood
COLUMNS
columns do not
have the smooth
outer surface of PermaCast nor the limited
Lifetime Warranty against defects. The
manufacturer, for minor cracks, roughness and
checking, deems the quality of wood columns
acceptable.
PINE
We offer columns in pine
and maintain an inventory of
6”, 8”, 10” and 12” diameters
in lengths of 8’, 10’ and 12’.
Larger columns are built to
order. Sizes extend to 30” in
diameter and 30’ in height.
Proper installation of wood columns
is required for w a r r a n t y
c o v e r a g e . P l e a s e refer to page
41 for installation requirements.
Staves are machined with a
tongue and groove edge to
assure accurate membering and
then assembled with an exterior
glue. Intense pressure from steel
bands insures superior bonding.
Column shafts are then turned
and sanded.

HB&G warrants that for one year from date of
shipment from its factory, its wood columns,
when installed properly and adequately
protected from the elements, will be free of
defects in material or workmanship. We further
warrant redwood columns for ten years against
rotting and joint seperation (unless joint
seperation is caused by movement of the roof
or the foundation), when properly stored,
installed, ventilated and painted. Columns
must be properly stored prior to installation,
and installed in accordance with installation
instructions. This warranty gives you specific
legal rights. You may have other rights which
vary from state to state. In the event of a claim
against this warranty, proof of purchase,
including the date will be required to effect
such a claim.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
• A complete column consists of shaft, cap and base.
• Cap and base fit on top and bottom of column insulating the column from the elements.
• Split columns are not load-bearing
• For transportation purposes small sections of split columns are left partially intact.
• Store columns in a dry, well ventilated area.
• For exterior applications: Paint inside of column shaft with a nonfibrous
asphaltum-type roof coating. Application must reach a minimum 48” up the
inside bottom of the column shaft.
• Wood columns require ventilation at the top and bottom.
• Failure to adhere to installation instructions voids the warranty.

COLUMNS
Wood columns are a less costly solution than PermaCast, however, wood columns do not have the
smooth outer surface of PermaCast nor the limited Lifetime Warranty against defects. The manufacturer, for
minor cracks, roughness and checking, deems the quality of wood columns acceptable.
It is our opinion at EL & EL Wood Products that the small amount of money saved by purchasing wood
columns over PermaCast columns is not enough to compensate for the extra cost of labor for both prepping
and installing wood columns in order to achieve a beautiful paintable column. While we inventory and sell
wood columns, we felt it was important to offer you this perspective.

are being used quite regularly,
both in closets and garages.
Closet and garage organizing
has become essential today as
our closets and garages are
used to store more than the
usual amounts of past generations.
With some ingenuity, you can create the same closets and garages
that closet organizing companies create but at a fraction of the cost.
By using sectional dividers that run vertically, create sections with
drawers, cupboards, shelving and clothes hanging areas. It’s all here
and for an upgraded closet, install custom knobs and hardware that
will further enhance your designs.
An organized closet and garage is a must in today’s lifestyles and will
add value to any home.

Chemcrest Architectural Urethane is a superior
urethane product for exterior and interior uses.
As with other urethane products, Chemcrest has
designed their products to be the most dense and
weather resistant in the industry as well as
providing top notch service.
Traditional wood trim, shutters, louvers, etc.
require continual maintenance to keep their
beauty. Frequent painting of the wood to avoid
deterioration is a must. This is not true with
urethane products. Urethane is completely
impervious to weather and will not deteriorate.
Each piece is prefinished with an exterior paint
that contains a UV inhibitor and comes with easy
to install instructions.
While urethane’s immediate drawback is that it is
more expensive than like wood products, the cost
savings over the years of low to no maintenance
and not having to replace deteriorated items, will
save costs in the long run.
Chemcrest Architectural Urethane is especially
popular in coastal areas or areas with a lot of
moisture. Because of urethane’s uniqueness, it’s
the perfect product for exterior use on any home
in any climate. Its beauty and ease of care and
maintenance make it a valuable product worth
using on every home.
Please note that when installing urethane it is
critical to use Chemcrest adhesive at every joint.

Measuring Instructions for Entrance Trim
1. Determine Door Opening Size (Dimension “X”)
Determine Dimension “X” by measuring the width of the door
taking into account extras such as brickmould and outswing
doors. For example, if you are using a 36" (3/0) door with
brickmould your outside width will be 40". If you are wanting
to install a storm door, you do need to include brickmould.
3. Determine Crosshead Width (or Width of
Pediment/Crosshead Combo)(Dimension “A”)
Dimension “A” is the width of the Door (Dimension “X”) plus
the widths of the Pilasters (2 x Dimension “Y”). Hence, the
door above has an “X” dimension of 40" and “Y” dimensions of
2x7" for an overall “A” Dimension of 54". Chemcrest always
states the width of Crossheads and Crosshead/Pediment
Combos as the width across the Breastboard. Hence, our door
would require a Crosshead at least 54" across. It is
architecturally correct to use Crossheads that are up to 2"
wider on each side of the Pilasters.
2. Determine Pilaster size to be used (Dimension “Y”)
Pilasters are the vertical casings to be installed on either side
of the door. Chemcrest offers a range of styles and widths as
well as heights. The larger the door system you are using, the
larger the pilasters should be. Using the example above, the
36" door with brickmould could be outfitted with 7" Pilasters.
Chemcrest always sells Pilasters in pairs.
4. Ordering a Chemcrest Door Surround
You can either use the measuring instructions provided as
above or use one of the pre-packaged Entrance Door Combos
as pictured on previous page.

CHEMCREST
Ceiling Medallions are quickly
regaining the popularity they enjoyed
in times past. In early American
architecture and the architecture of most
of the rest of the world, ceiling
medallions were used not only as a
decorative element over lighting
fixtures, but to help diffuse the light and
heat from the flames that provided light
before Edison. Today, however, they
are used mostly as a decorative
element to add charm and character.
Originally made from heavy, fragile
materials like plaster, today’s urethane
medallions are practical while still
providing beauty and elegance. With
better detail and all the relief plaster
medallions can provide, the timeless,
Old World styles of our urethane
medallions make installation, even on
uneven surfaces, easy and quick.
Available in a variety of styles and
diameters, the following medallions can
decorate the ceilings of any size room
and accommodate any kind of a
lighting escutcheon or fixture. Ceiling
medallions may also be used in a
variety of ways as a decorative item.
Like all Chemcrest products, Ceiling
Medallions are architecturally correct, with styles ranging from uncluttered
simplicity to extravagantly ornate. Make a ceiling come alive with a ceiling
rosette, or enhance an overhead light fixture with a ceiling medallion.
Niches are a fabulous way to enhance an empty wall and create a look and
space that brings both elegance and function.

CEILING
ELEMENTS
Ceiling Elements
Chemcrest’s decorative ceiling elements include rosettes, medallions and
now our new ceiling dome. Made from high density polyurethane,
Chemcrest’s rosettes and medallions are lightweight and easy to handle and
install. Crown a dining room or foyer with a highly detailed Chemcrest
medallion. Or adorn a ceiling or fireplace surround with a well placed
rosette. And Chemcrest’s new fiberglass dome ensures a grand statement
with or without a lighting fixture.
Consider adding a matching crown mold to further enhance your room
decor. Suggestions for matching moldings are provided - or reference
Chemcrest’s extensive Moldings Catalogue.
Or don’t use our medallions on the ceiling at all!! Our customers are always
coming up with creative applications such as using a large medallion as a
headboard or cutting a medallion in half to use as a decoration over a door
or window.
Whatever your application, Chemcrest has a beautiful, highly detailed
medallion to suit your needs and fulfill your dreams.

New from Chemcrest - Fiberglass Ceiling Dome
Chemcrest’s new dome is constructed of highly durable fiberglass with a
convenient fiberglass lip through which to mechanically fasten the dome
to the ceiling structure. Four beautiful decorative rings are available to
choose from which are pre-routered to fit over the lip to cover all
screws and to cleanly finish off the installation.
The dome may be painted or left as is - and it can be used alone as a
decorative statement or fitted with a lighting fixture.

MEDALLION INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
Step 1:
Disconnect and remove light fixture before installing
medallion over an existing fixture. Ensure electricity at fuse
or circuit box is turned off before installing.
Step 2:
Drill center hole of medallion to allow wires to slip through
for the connecting of light fixture to power source. Make
sure hole is no larger than canopy cover. (You can also
order your medallion pre-drilled from the factory by
specifying size of center hole with your order - additional
charges will apply).

Step 4:
Connect fixture wires to power source. Slide medallion,
canopy cover and ring up towards the ceiling. Tighten ring
snug against medallion.
Step 5:
Use finishing nails or screws on the edges of the medallion
in order that the medallion is flush all around the
perimeter. The ring is the support for the fixture. The
medallion should not be the support for the fixture.
Chemcrest recommends not using adhesives in order that
you may gain access to the electrical box in the future.

The size of a ceiling medallion may be
determined by multiplying the length
of your room (in feet) by the width of
the room and dividing by 7. This gives you a
suggestion for the dimensions in inches of a well
proportioned medallion.
Example: A 12’ x 14’ dining room could easily
carry off a 24” medallion. (12’ x 14’ = 168’; 168’ /
7 = 24”)
The calculation does suggest that a larger
medallion tends to work better in most rooms.
Smaller medallions tend to get lost in larger
rooms whereas larger medallions beautifully
crown a lighting fixture.
