As a vacation owner, you can choose whether to continue to visit your home
resort or you can consider exploring the world! Your ownership gives you
the flexibility to exchange your vacation time for time at other resort
destinations.
What is RCI?
RCI is your partner in vacation exchange. Your home resort (where you
purchased your vacation ownership) has affiliated with RCI so owners, like you,
can vacation at more than 4,000 resort vacation options across the globe.*
Experiencing new destinations is easy! When you decide not to return to your
home resort, you can “trade” your week(s) for something different. Basically,
you give your vacation time to RCI (known as Depositing) and then book a
vacation at another resort (known as Exchanging). It’s that simple.
If you’re wondering what the difference is between your home resort and RCI,
here’s a quick overview:
Your home resort:
• Where you purchased your vacation ownership
• Owns the resort property
• Maintains the resort property
• Collects maintenance fees
RCI® Subscribing Membership:
• Offers access to exchange vacation options (at resort locations around the
world… including cruise vacations)
• Offers access to member-only priced cash vacations at resort properties
(no deposit needed!)

Getting on vacation is easy, fun
and flexible!
RCI offers two types of vacation options:
• Exchange options where you trade your week ownership for another
resort destination (or a cruise vacation).
• Cash options where you have access to purchase vacations at memberexclusive pricing (which does not require a “trade” or “exchange”.
First, let’s explore how you book an Exchange
vacation.
Deposit your vacation week with RCI
Log on to RCI.com and click the
“Search for a Vacation” tab
Why depositing is the first step…
The term “Deposit” refers to giving your vacation week to RCI so you can
exchange for a vacation week at another resort. When you deposit, your vacation
week is placed in the RCI® system for other subscribing members to use.
Once you deposit, you can then “trade” or exchange the week you gave RCI for
another week deposited in the system. You will have at least 35,000 exchange
vacation options to choose from.
Deposit Trading Power
Once your week is deposited, it is assigned a Deposit Trading Power, which is
used to determine what exchange vacation options are available to you.
The main components of Deposit Trading Power are supply and demand. If you
own a week that a lot of people typically want and has had limited availability,
the Deposit Trading Power is likely to be higher. If you have a week that fewer
people typically want or has had a lot of availability, the Deposit Trading Power is
likely to be lower.
Other factors affecting Deposit Trading Power:
• Season you own
• Size and type of your unit
• Comment card scores for your resort
• How far in advance you deposit
The only factor you control is when you deposit your week. The closer you
get to the start date (check-in date), the lower the Deposit Trading Power will be.
This is because you’re leaving less time for another member to book it (and it
could possibly go unused). Deposit early for the most value.

Maximize your Deposit Trading Power!
In order to make sure you get 100% of your available
Deposit Trading Power, you MUST deposit at least 9
months before the check-in date of your ownership
week.
Take a look at how the value decreases as you deposit later and later:

Deposit early and start your vacation search. It’s
easy and FREE!
Based on the type of week you own, your deposit process will vary. Here’s how to
deposit:
Fixed Week Deposits
A fixed week deposit means that you own the same unit and
week every year, at the same resort. Most members with a fixed
week can deposit directly with RCI by logging on and clicking the
“Manage Deposits” tab.
Floating Week Deposits
A floating week deposit means that your vacation week is assigned
by your home resort and varies by year. Members with a floating
ownership call their home resort to get started.
Once you deposit, your Deposit Trading Power is locked in and it will not
decrease. Just don’t wait too long because Deposits can expire.
For example, if you own a week with a maximum trading power of 20, but wait
until 4 months before the start date, you will only receive 18.

When can I travel?
Depending on when you deposit, you can travel anywhere from one
year before your original start date to up to two years afterwards.
That gives members the potential of a three year travel window.
2 years before check-in

after this point.
For example, if your vacation week starts in September 2014 you
can travel any time between September 2013 and September

is the date that your vacation
ownership week begins.

Deposit WINDOW
The Deposit Window is the period of time you have to deposit
your vacation week with RCI. You can deposit as early as 2 years
before your start date. Remember, Deposit Trading Power starts to
decrease 9 months prior to check-in.
TRAVEL WINDOW

End of travel window
If you do not travel by 2 years after your
deposit’s check-in date, the deposit will expire
and you will no longer be able to travel.
The Travel Window is the period of time you have to plan, book
and travel on an RCI® Exchange vacation. Depending on when you
deposit, you will have a 3 year travel window.

How do I search and book?
Now that you’ve deposited your week and received your Deposit Trading Power,
you have at least 35,000 exchange options to choose from! Starting your
vacation search is incredibly fun. Here’s what you need to know to get started:
Searching and Booking – the Basics
Discovering your exchange possibilities is half the fun of getting on
vacation. And RCI.com makes searching for your dream vacation easy!
Log onto RCI.com and click the “Search for a Vacation” tab.
Exchange Trading Power
Exchange Trading Power is the value assigned to all resort weeks available for
exchange in the RCI® system. Unlike Deposit Trading Power, which you can lock
in, Exchange Trading Power is always changing based on supply and demand.
Try using these tips to find the best options:
• Keep your search broad. Be flexible with dates and locations, you never
know what you’ll discover!
• Use the available search filters to narrow down your options to the
ones that suit you best!
• Search by “vacation type” rather than a specific destination – you may
discover a place you never thought of!
• Consider smaller units. If you only need a studio or one-bedroom,
you may discover destinations you never thought possible with your
Deposit Trading Power. Plus, if you use less trading power than you
have, you’ll get a Deposit Credit (we’ll show you how that works later).
When you see a resort you are interested in, click “learn more”.
• Explore photos, videos, member reviews, room details, area info and
more… all at your fingertips.
Select the “Available Units” tab to choose a week and book
your vacation!
• See a full list of all the dates available as well as the Exchange Trading
Power needed for each specific week.
• Select the week you want, pay the exchange fee and you’re ready to
start packing!

What if the exchange I want has an
Exchange Trading Power that is higher
or lower than my deposit?
Don’t worry! We’ve got you covered.
If the exchange you want requires less trading power than your deposit is
worth, you are in luck! You will receive a Deposit Credit for the difference!
If the exchange you want requires more trading power than any one of your
deposited weeks (or Deposit Credits you may have), you may want to consider a
Combined Deposit.
• Combined Deposits allow you to combine multiple deposits or Deposit
Credits, for a fee, and turn them into one combined “week” with higher
trading power. You can then book an exchange that requires more trading
power than your original week had. You might be able to book a vacation
you never thought possible! It’s a great way to get that extra special
vacation you’ve been dreaming of.
• Deposit Credits are kind of like getting change back! Your unused
trading power is placed on your account as a Deposit Credit, to use toward
a second vacation. So essentially, you used one week and can potentially
take two weeks of vacation! What could be better?
Tip: A Deposit Credit takes on the same expiration
dates of the original deposit it was created from.
Make sure you know when it will expire.
Tip: Combined Deposits expire 2 years from the
date combined, regardless of the original weeks’
expiration dates.

Help! I can’t find the vacation I am
looking for.
If your exchange search hasn’t turned up exactly what you’re looking for, don’t
worry! New deposits come in every single day, so let us do the work for you!
Getting started is simple:
1. Click the Ongoing Search tab on the right-hand side of the
search screen and enter your vacation criteria.
You can be as specific as you want, but as with a standard search, being
flexible gives you the most options.
Open an Ongoing Search and RCI will search for you 24/7 and notify you
when a match is found. An Ongoing Search is like putting yourself on a waiting
list for your dream vacation. It is the first place newly member deposited weeks
are matched against, so members on the list are first in line and get prioritized
access to the new deposited weeks before they’re available online!
2. Pay the Exchange Fee and your search has begun.
RCI will continue to search until a resort match is found. If a match is not
found or if you cancel your Ongoing Search at any time, your Exchange Fee
is fully refundable.
3. Get a notification to confirm!

this lovely resort south of Banff for a wonderful family vacation. Almost every
afternoon we were treated to a spectacular Rainbow.”
RCI will contact you as soon as a resort match is found. You have the option
of RCI auto-booking the resort for you as soon as a match comes through
or you can wait and confirm it yourself. But remember, once a match is
found, you only have 24 hours to confirm before the vacation is released to
another member on the waitlist.
