The Melting Pot - Mature Services, Inc.
10th Anniversary of
The Melting Pot ~
A Taste of Many Nations
September 11th, 2014
Welcome
On behalf of our Board of Directors, staff and clients,
thank you for attending our 10th annual fundraising event,
“The Melting Pot ~ A Taste of Many Nations.” We are
excited to share our mission with you, while at the same
time introducing you to a sampling of the many different
cultures that make up our community.
Our local chefs have provided many flavorful dishes and
we have a wide selection of items for our Silent Auction.
Our emcee, Allan Fee from Q104, will be announcing
closing times for bidding and alert you to other events
throughout the night.
Take time to chat with old and new friends, while “Just
Friends” plays a music medley that spans generations.
As we face the growing need for services and a reduction
in overall funding, we are especially grateful for your
support. We hope you enjoy the evening.
Linda M. Valentine

Silent Auction Rules
1. The Silent Auction opens for bidding at 5:30 p.m. The emcee will

five minutes before the closing of each table, beginning at 7:30 p.m.
Cash-out opens at 7:45 p.m. Last table closes at 8:00 p.m.
2. Bid sheets for all items will be located on the table near each item.
Your bid number is on your program cover.
3. To bid, record your bid number and the amount you wish to bid on
the sheet using the top-most blank line.
4. Each bid increase must equal or exceed the minimum bid increase
stated on the bid sheet to be considered a valid bid.
5. The auction bidder with the highest bid at the appropriate closing
time will be the winner. If the highest bidder did not follow the
minimum bid increase, then the item will go to the next highest
bidder.
6. In the event of a dispute, the Auction Chair shall act as the final

7. Travel to and from all events and a vacation location purchased is the
responsibility of the buyer.

9. At the close of the auction, Auction Monitors will remove and take
the top two bid sheets to the cashier. The top bidder will pay cashier
for the item(s) he/she has successfully bid (won) where he/she will
receive a receipt, along with any gift certificates purchased. If the
bid item is a basket or other item on the silent auction table, bidder
should pay for the item(s) first, then take their receipt to one of the
volunteers working the auction tables to pick up their item(s).
10. The successful bidder must make payment at the event with cash,

Mature Services, Inc. has been serving older adults and
adults with disabilities since 1975. The agency has played a
vital role in meeting the needs of the aging population in our
community with a variety of programs.
Mature Services Programs
Avenues to Recovery ~ a treatment and prevention program for those with
alcohol, drug and gambling issues designed for adults age 50+ that includes:
mental health counseling, confidential assessment, individual & group
counseling, a specialized Women’s Program, crisis intervention, educational
series, transportation assistance, outreach, and much more.
Employment & Training Solutions ~ Providing employment services for
mature workers, including: community service employment (age 55+), Job
Club, Mature Workers’ Job Fairs, job placement, job search cooperatives,
resource room, computer-based instruction, internet job search and more.
Works in partnership with local businesses and other non-profits.
Homecare Services ~ Provides direct services in the homes of older adults
and adults with disabilities. A social worker or nurse develops an
individualized plan according to the client’s needs including: home health
aides who deliver skilled health care and personal care; homemakers who
provide assistance with light housekeeping, laundry, meal preparation,
errands, groceries; and chore workers who offer assistance with heavy
cleaning and trash removal. A Supportive Services representative provides
information and in-home assessments to older adults.
Nutrition ~ Serves hot meals at several local senior and disabled
housing/dining centers five days a week for adults age 60+ or adults with
disabilities, and operates a home-delivered meals service to residents in
Summit County and surrounding areas. The emergency food pantry program
provides a free three-day supply of groceries to those in need. Also
administers a Farmer’s Market program, funded in part by the USDA,
providing vouchers to people ages 60+ to purchase fresh fruit and vegetables
from local farmers during the summer. Festive Food Catering can provide
catering of events. Call for more information on any of these services.
RSVP (Retired and Senior Volunteer Program) ~ Coordinates volunteer
opportunities for adults age 55+ to provide meaningful volunteer
assignments responsive to community needs including: mentoring and
tutoring youth, assisting homebound seniors, food collection and meal
distribution for homebound seniors, coaching older adults with job searches,
assisting with public health, wellness and disaster preparedness activities.
RSVP is now also presenting a series of healthy living and lifestyle classes
for older adults.
