Janice Waugh
Biographical Sketch
Janice Waugh is publisher of Solo Traveler, the blog for those who travel alone, and the author of The Solo
Traveler’s Handbook. She launched the Solo Traveler project two years after her husband passed away from a
rare neurological disorder and one year after co-founding navCare with Harry van Bommel.
Janice’s background as a birth doula and frustration navigating the health care system for her late husband
prompted a discussion with Harry and their search for partners in an as yet unknown project that turned into
navCare.
Janice has a Masters Degree in History from the University of Toronto and a long entrepreneurial career.
