Issue 3 NORTH HARBOUR KYOKUSHIN KARATE CLUB Aug 2014 Busy 2nd half of the year. Osu We’ve already had a busy year, but there’s so much more to come! I hope everyone can support these events BUT firstly what has happened since our last newsletter… Osu Shihan Takiwa The New Zealand National Tournament was held in Wellington this year, we had few members take part. Everyone performed well and I see the improvement each time we take part in these tournaments, keep it up! Congratulations to all our National champions, there were some outstanding efforts in some difficult conditions. It was a real challenge with new kata rules & 2 mats running! OSU! Sorry there will be no class on Monday 8th September, I will be in Australia for the Australian National Kyokushin Championships held in Brisbane, and won’t be back till Monday night. Our ABC Pre-Karate & Junior class can train on the Tuesday with our Advance Juniors at 4.30pm and our ABC Adults class can train on Tuesday in the seniors class at 6pm. Sorry for any inconvenience. Osu Shihan Takiwa Permission slips will be handed out to the students who are able to grade. Grading fees must be paid BEFORE the grading dates. You must be there at the dojo at least 15mins prior to the grading time with your water bottle and ready to start, if you are LATE you WILL NOT be permitted to take part. For our ABC Junior beginners your first grading fee is $110 subsequent gradings are $45. BRING YOUR RUNNING SHOES (and socks) ABC Juniors, Beginners – 9th kyu Adults & Juniors (Mon & Wed class): 8th – 3rd kyu DATE: Wed 27th August Saturday 16th August Start Time: 4.30-6pm Start Time: 9.15am st Grading fee: $110 (1 grading) Be at the dojo at 9am nd rd $45 (2 /3 grading) Adults: $65 Children: $45 There are still plenty of secondhand dogi available to purchase, also don’t forget there are always new ones available too. If you would like the Japanese Ichigeki Dogi Shihan can order these from Japan for NZ$200 DROP OFF ONLY NO Parking outside the dojo PLEASE. We’re still getting complaints from other tenants, that are being boxed in or their park is being used. NO parking in the carpark before 5.30pm. Please park in KFC, the Mall or on the road if you find one Still available. If you still don’t have a club t-shirt get one now as there are limited sizes and it’ll be a while before we put in another order. Adult $30 Child $25 We have a few from around the country attending the OZ Nationals this year with several from our dojo having a go at bringing home an Australian title! Please wish them well before they leave, competing are: Sempai Shingo (from West but trains with us too), Sempai Reena, Eddie & Sam The date for the Northern Zone tournament is the 15th of November in Papakura. Information will be out soon. We want ALL our members to have a go and enter in either kata or in the kumite (sparing) or BOTH, be fearless! Right: Jazmine in the middle of her kata, unfortunately did the same turn as Devon but her competitor was very strong so managed to win the judges votes. (that’s who Sensei Diane is watching at that stage ), no she’s not just looking into the crowd haha
