Tonight’s FOS Kick-off and Training has been postponed due to sniffles, bad
weather, car trouble and unit conflicts. Kathie Terry is working on the master
schedule for us between boxes of tissue. If your unit has not scheduled their 2016
FOS presentation, which usually occurs at the Pack Blue and Golds or Troop Courts

University of Scouting –
Congratulations to all the graduates and participants of
University of Scouting. We know that the content of the
classes is the real reason you attend, and earning a little bling
is icing on the cake! Here is a quick word on the pin

Manatee Festival
A big thank you goes to Norm and Suzy Salveson who
worked the entire first day of the festival and came
back for more on Saturday. Kristine Campanelli-Priori
and Anita of Pack 420 and Eric Cerbulis of Pack 340
and his daughter worked the first half of Sunday.
Thank you everyone. As a result, we distributed
almost 200 teaser flyers for our April 30 Derby Fest
(see attached) and spoke with more than 20 potential
venders. Kids did crafts and took home manatee
coloring books. Parents learned about Scouting and
those with Cub-Scout age boys received a placemat
with Cub Scout Daycamp dates.
Webelos vs Monsters February 26 – 28, 2016
Tuscarora District will be holding an exciting camping event for all
Webelos February 26 – 28 at the Highbanks Recreation Area, DeBary FL.
Friday night campfire program will include complimentary Cracker Barrel
for Webelos and their parents/guardians. Saturday will begin with skill
training and demos transition to compe- titions between patrols and
conclude with a meaningful campfire program including an OA Cross Over Ceremony. Sunday
will start with Awards and end with a Scouts Own Service. This event is for Webelos, their
parent/guardian and Webelos Leaders. Attendees will also receive a commemorative patch!
Mark your Calendars for these two District Events!
April 1 – 3 Spring Camporee for all Boy Scout Troops. Webelos are also invited
for their own special program. Location will be near Spruce Creek Airport in New
Smyrna Beach.
April 30, 2016 – Tuscarora DERBY FEST!
All Tuscarora Units are strongly encouraged to host a booth that features a game or
activity to showcase for the public. Cub Scouts will be able to participate and watch
the District Pinewood Derby. Boy Scouts will be able to participate and watch a
Blast Car Derby (a small registration fee will apply for the races). Also at this
public event will be Camp Card Settlement. DeLand location and details are TBA.
Spring Recruitment at Community Fesitvals
Attention Cubmasters – Since recharter time, your youth and adult membership
might not be a strong as it was in the fall. Have no fear! Spring is a great time to
recruit new youth and parents to your pack. In addition, district needs a few of your
parents or adults on the promotion team for Derby Fest. You can kill both birds
with one stone by helping to staff a craft booth at three community events:
Manatee Festival – January 23 - 24, 2016, Valentine Park, Orange City
Gateway Festival of Youth Arts – March 12, 2016, Gemini Springs, Debary
Wildflower and Garden Festival – April 1-2, 2016, Earl Brown Park, DeLand

Scout Day at Universal Orlando Resort Saturday, April 9, 2016

$78 one day, two park passes is a great deal if you haven’t seen the Harry Potter
World. You’ll get your money’s worth if you ride Gringots in Diagonally, the train
and Hogwarts in Hogsmead and see nothing else all day. Say hi to your D.E’s son,
Kenny at the castle.
