November 11, 2015 the Apopka Service Center will be open. Scouting for Food starts THIS WEEKEND! This is the bag delivery weekend. Please follow the instructions distributed with the bags and work as a unit rather than sending individual boys or families out on their own. Work the assigned neighborhood and keep your map to use again next weekend. Keep track of the number of people working to enter Community Service hours into MyBSA.org. Your D.E. will be out of town Friday, November 6 – Tuesday November 10 to attend a finance conference at Sea Base (!) …Ok… she’s going to enjoy a little visit to the Keys this weekend too. Contact your Unit Commissioner or District Commissioner Diane Hedengren (386-747-0616) if you need help with recharter or need other assistance. The Council offices will be open on Veterans Day. Scout Show is coming! It’s official! Scout Show is returning to the UCF/Brighthouse Stadium on April 30, 2016. Scout Shop Announcements 1) Single weekend job - December 12 &13 we need four temporary staff personnel to help with our annual inventory at the Apopka store. Interested individuals may contact me (Geoff Green) directly. (See below) 2) We have Centennial OA Nutcrackers!!! 3) Unit Leaders/Committee Chairs - We are having a special program, similar to an Angel Tree, called an Ethan Tree. Unit Leaders and Commissioners, not the parents, will provide us with information for a few kids in your unit needing some help with Uniforming/Scouting needs. The Ethan cards will hang on our tree and offer others the opportunity to help out some of our Scouts. This is open to Packs, Troops and Crews. Every unit that turns a complete recharter packet in at the November RT or sooner will receive a chance to win a Household Membership to the Museum of Art DeLand. In order to help registered adults complete the Youth Protection requirement, a special training session will be offered at the Roundtable itself (Recharters submitted after the training session will count for this drawing). Cub Scout Pack 241, Pack 725 and Troop 725 just earned the first 3 tickets, by being first to submit recharter! In order to “Sweeten the Deal” Every unit who earns a chance toward the big prize will also receive a 10 part book of Wendy’s frosty coupons to share with key leaders in your unit. Scout Skating Event Pack 852 has organized a scout night at The Rink in Deltona on Monday, November 23rd from 6-8pm. The cost is $5 per person, which includes skate rental. The Rink is located at 1680 Doyle Rd, Deltona 32725. You can visit their website at www.rinkdeltona.com We want to open up this special night to all the packs in the area. – Larry Jacobs, CM of 3852. * D.E. idea… Make this into a recruitment opportunity! Ask your Cubs to bring a friend. Bring some pack information for the parents to share while the kids are skating. Collect $28 for the kids to join the fun before holidays. Turn them in with your recharter. Applications and school night rockets will be provided by council for the new recruits. Remember that new youth bring new parents… and what unit doesn’t need a Parent Coordinator or Pack Trainer for 2016? November is “Invite a friend to Join Cub Scouts” month. In order to create excitement for getting new friends to join your Cub Scout Pack, the Central Florida Council, Boy Scouts of America will provide Pinewood Derby car kits for each registered Cub Scout in your Pack if you can recruit the most new Cubs during the month of November. All new Cub Scouts who join in November must complete a youth application and pay $28. To qualify, applications must be receive in the Council Office, 1951 S. Orange Blossom Trail, Apopka FL 32703 no later than November 30th There will be one winning pack Council-wide. The winner will be announced on Friday, December 4th. Wrapped car kits always make great gift items for the December Pack meeting. Families can build and race in the spring. Mark your calendars for Tuscarora District Pinewood Derby on Saturday, April 9. Details and location TBA. Good Luck and Happy Racing! JTE Platinum (formerly Blue Ribbon) The Ideal Year of Scouting Requirement has been extended until the end of the year. Unfortunately, this will not count toward the bonus 5% popcorn commission, which was due August 10, but it will count for JTE Platinum. Units achieving Platinum level will receive a Platinum Ribbon for their unit flag! See attached for JTE Platinum requirements. POPCORN Are you ready to make payment now? You can view, download and print your own invoices from the TrailsEnd website. Use this link: paypopcorn.cflscouting.org it will take you directly to the popcorn payment link where you can pay by the following: · Check – They will need their checking account #/routing #/account billing address · Credit Card – They will need their credit card #/billing address Payment notification goes directly to Kimberly Orosco who will apply your payment to your account, manually. Please allow at least one full business day for her to complete this action. 2nd weekend Blitz Patches will be available for pick up at the November Roundtable. Internet Advancement The December Advancement report is coming and it is the most import month of the whole year. Please, Please, Please, get all earned rank advancements entered so they will count for the boys THIS year and not roll into 2016. Cub Scout Packs, please remember to enter all your Bobcats. This includes the mass Bobcat class we conducted at Cub-O-Ree on September 26. All Packs who had boys advance at Cub-O- Ree must log them in to Internet Advancement for them to count. Contrary to what was announced, they were not entered into the system by Council. Your copy of the advancement list was distributed via Roundtable mailbox or will be emailed to the CM. District Operations Workshop Saturday, November 21, 8:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m Council Service Center 1951 S. Orange Blossom Trail Orlando, FL 32703 A continental breakfast will be served at 8:00 a.m. and the Workshop will begin at 8:30 a.m. The $10 fee includes breakfast, lunch and really great training materials.
