Tortona Fashion District isn’t something new. Actually to
be clear, it is a successful entity for over 30 years, since the
first Superstudio was born in via Forcella, in 1983, a complex of 18 photographic studios and other spaces where
so forth freelance editorial agencies, photography development labs, model agencies, creative ateliers, schools of
photography, modelling, fashion journalism, image took
residence. An initiative by the journalists-editors-directors
Flavio Lucchini and Gisella Borioli, in the beginning with
the photographer Fabrizio Ferri. In just a few years, great
international brands move in around the studios of the first
Superstudio, with their showrooms from Esprit to Kenzo to
Balenciaga to Zegna and so on many more, up to Armani
headquarter and Theatre. Superstudio Più’s new multi-functional centre, open in the premises of Ex-General Electric
in via Tortona regained, since 2000, also the interest in the
most suburban area of via Tortona, beyond via Bergognone,
here comes around and close-by top fashion bands, thanks
to the “re-use” of the ex- Riva Calzoni, between via Stendhal,
via Solari and via Savona. Zegna sets a new and bigger headquarter, CP Company, Diesel, Margiela, Tod’s, Allegri, Fendi.
Armani once again with its new offices and its Museum and
many more. New architectures, new visionary hotels, such
as art-hotel Nhow and the new 5 stars Magna Pars Suite,

Tortona (fashion) DISTRICT is an initiative by Superstudio Group and M.Seventy, that networks the whole Tortona district and surroundings, integrating all the most important fashion entities (headquarters, offices locations, show-rooms, temporary locations, exhibitions, events and presentations). The purpose is to create a publishing schedule gathering all TORTONA (fashion) DISTRICT’s addresses, initiatives and events, communicating and spreading information on the “fashion systems” in the area, thus affording insiders (and outsiders) enjoying initiatives, overlapping
events, calendars and significant places.
new shops and restaurants, and many temporary-spaces ready to become showrooms, shops, exhibiting spaces, gave
throughout the years a new identity to the area, by now the
first, most extended, crowded, real Fashion District of Milan.
Actually a quick-changing district that turns into a Design
district during the Design Week, and where, with Superstudio, the “Fuori Salone” phenomenon got started, now widespread in an exhibiting district, or hosts other important
events involving art, food, photography, “Fuori Expo” and
more. White has arrived at Superstudio Più in 2002, at a time
when via Tortona was still regarded as suburbs and not a
crucial centre like now. Fashion houses in the area were few,
even though Superstudio’s photographic studios in via Forcella and Superstudio’s fashion shows in via Tortona summoned cyclically the fashion world to the area, along with
the showrooms that, trusting the idea, had already settled
there. White has been a cyclone that bought a new, impetuous growing wind.
Today White, attended by more than 20.000 buyers and
1.000 journalists, finalizes Tortona Fashion District with four
editions per year (during Milano Fashion Week), the result
of an international, ever changing research and additional
projects involving fashion and on going trends.
