Weigh in a the next meeting. I lost 20 lbs. Gene, eat well at
the Nationals! Remember, think hungry, and think starving!
TROY CAR SHOW
This is a big event for our club and we need all members
present to support parking, judging and the other nitty-gritty.
Please plan on arriving in Troy, MO around 7 AM on August
4th to prepare the show field and receive the first cars.
Lunch will be provided in the church basement as last year.
Cold water will be provided (and likely necessary since we
should be in the 120 degree Fahrenheit range by then!).
Your support is critical to this event and the Archway Club!

The July President’s Message
Hi everyone, looks like summer is here. Next time you see Dan mention Happy Birthday to him. It is a special
one for him. He doesn’t look like a day over 40.
The 2012 OCA Nationals in Des Moines Iowa are going on while you are reading this. We had 30 cars
caravanning to Iowa. Some other members followed on their own. Having a blast wish you were here. We will
discuss this event at our next club meeting.
I mentioned earlier that our club members involved in the 2013 OCA Nationals may consider hanging with their
equivalent departments at the 2012 OCA Nationals to experience what it takes to run your 2013 department
smoothly.
Our club Mid Missouri Oldsmobile Car Show at Tan-Tar-A is past. The members discussed concerns and
positives with this event while it was fresh in our minds. The membership will discuss in the future our 2013
event. What needs to stay the same, and what needs to be adjusted. At this time we have not received a 2013
contract from Tan-Tar-A. More will follow on this subject later this year.
We are still in need of volunteers on Saturday August 4th for the Troy Car Show. We need members and their
friends to help the club this day put on another successful car event. We can use help in parking by keeping
the cars moving to their placement in an orderly fashion. Most need to stand in the cross streets to keep cars
from entering from the bottom or middle of down town. All cars must enter from the top of the hill and all to be
guided to their parking place with a positive attitude. A smile always welcomes entries and keeps car owners
experience a delightful car event. We will discuss further at our next club meeting.
Hopefully we can get water or ice for our workers again. We will be fed lunch in the church basement same as
last year. Wear your comfortable shoes and sun block that day.
The Archway Oldsmobile Club in the past has received the club participation award at the Woodson Terrace
Days Car Show. This car show is on Sunday July 22nd at John Brown/Woodson Terrace Park same place as
in years past. Class 15 All Oldsmobile all years. Hopefully there will be encouragement to be attendance in this
car show.
Just a reminder if you are not attending the OCA Nationals there is an open house to a cool car restoration
shop that is top shelf. The Classic Car Studio Open House Saturday July 7th. Fliers were passed around at the
last meeting. This is a top of the line shop it would be worth experiencing. Show cars parking on separate lot.
So take your Olds and wear your Archway club shirt or hat and enjoy high dollar cars and equipment.
Please stay cool and don't over work yourself in this heat.
See you at the cruises
Gene

MEMBER ANNIVERSARIES
Kathy and Steve Sturm
Caryl and Jerry Wilson
Kimberly & Thomas Weaver
A lawyer and a senior citizen are sitting next to each other on a
long flight.
The lawyer is thinking that seniors are so dumb that he could get
one over on him easily.
So, the lawyer asks if the senior would like to play a fun game.
The senior is tired and just wants to take a nap, so he politely
declines and tries to catch a few winks.
The lawyer persists, saying that the game is a lot of fun...."I ask
you a question, and if you don't know the answer, you pay me
only $5.00. Then you ask me one, and if I don't know the answer,
I will pay you $500.00," he says.
This catches the senior's attention and, to keep the lawyer quiet,
he agrees to play the game.
The lawyer asks the first question. "What's the distance from the
Earth to the Moon?"
The senior doesn't say a word, but reaches into his pocket, pulls
out a five-dollar bill, and hands it to the lawyer.
Now, it's the senior's turn. He asks the lawyer, "What goes up a
hill with three legs, and comes down with four?"
The lawyer uses his laptop to search all references he can find
on the Net.
He sends E-mails to all the smart friends he knows; all to no
avail. After an hour of searching, he finally gives up.
He wakes the senior and hands him $500.00. The senior pockets
the $500.00 and goes right back to sleep.
The lawyer is going nuts not knowing the answer. He wakes the
senior up and asks, "Well, so what goes up a hill with three legs
and comes down with four?"
The senior reaches into his pocket, hands the lawyer $5.00, and
goes back to sleep.
