Quick Reference
Scanning Process Types
Scan to File
Allows for quick scanning to either user-selected folder or
pre-designated folder location.
Scan to Email
Allows for quick scanning to email destinations.
Scan to SharePoint
Allows for quick scanning to pre-designated locations in SharePoint.
Scan to Google Docs
Allows for quick scanning to user’s Google Docs account (based on
username and password authentication); in PDF format only.
Scan to Evernote
Allows for quick scanning to user’s Evernote account (based on
username and password authentication).
Scan to Picasa
Allows for quick scanning to user’s Picasa account (based on
username and password authentication); in TIFF format only.
Scan to Dropbox
Allows for quick scanning to user’s Dropbox account (based on
username and password authentication).
File Formats (Output)
PDF Image
Creates “Image-based” PDF files with the pages as a scanned image
only. No searchable text is included with the PDF.
PDF Searchable
Creates PDF files with the pages as a scanned image with a
searchable text layer. This maintains the original file look and layout
but adds text search capability.
PDF/A 1b
Creates files in PDF/A (archive) format with the pages as a scanned
image with a searchable text layer. This maintains the original file look
and layout but adds text search capability.
TIFF Image
Creates multi-page TIFF (Tagged Image File Format) image files.
Word
Converts the text and images in the scanned pages into a fully editable
Microsoft Word-compatible text document using frames for layout
placement.
Word (No Frames)
Converts the text and images in the scanned pages into a fully editable
Microsoft Word-compatible text document using paragraphs for layout
placement.
Excel
Converts printed spreadsheet documents into editable Excel
documents. Does not maintain formulas or other items.
XPS
Creates Microsoft XPS documents with the pages as scanned images
and text.

Recommended Scan Settings
For best processing speed, quality, and file size it is recommended that you use the following
default scanner settings on the MFP (multifunction printer) scanner:
Scanner Format TIFF
DPI
300
Color Mode
BW (1-bit) for Text Only and Fax Documents
Color (24-bit) for mixed content and images
TIP: Scanning in Grayscale (8-bit) mode is not recommend as it can create file
sizes that are larger than the same files scanned in Color (24-bit) mode.
