Llanelli AFC lose High
Court battle, but may appeal
From www.s4c.co.uk/sgorio
Llanelli Football Club has been wound up at London’s High Court with a £21,000 debt to Revenue and
Customs.
Five years after being crowned Welsh Premier League champions, it appears the Reds will disappear from
Welsh football after the High Court placed the business in the hands of the Official Receiver.
Lawyers for Llanelli argued that the club had turned amateur in August 2012 meaning the debt owed to
HMRC was less than the £21,000 being claimed.
But the Registrar rejected their arguments: “I am sorry, it seems to me it was made perfectly clear exactly
what was expected and I am not satisfied that steps have been taken as required.
“I am going to make the usual compulsory order.”
This is the second successive season a Welsh Premier League club has been wound up in the High Court as
Neath FC suffered the same fate in May 2012.
It’s believed that Llanelli FC owner and former chairman, Nitin Parekh, is considering appealing the decision.

Whistle man Kevin calls it a day
Kevin Morgan refereed his final Corbett Sports Welsh Premier League match on Saturday as Gap
Connah's Quay took on Newtown at the Deeside Stadium.
Well respected Morgan has been involved in Welsh refereeing since 2004 and has been a constant figure in
the WPL since 2008.
The highlights of his career include officiating at Europa League matches, Welsh League Cup Final (2012),
Cardiff City v Celtic (2011) and Wales v Costa Rica (Gary Speed Memorial 2012).
The Corbett Sports Welsh Premier League would like to thank Kevin Morgan for his valuable contribution
to the League and wishes him all the best in the future.
He was given a guard of honour by both teams and their young mascots as he entered the field. Picture

Mark Pike accepts Wales Semi-Pro call
by Matthew Burgess
Academy Director Mark Pike has accepted a two-year invitation to manage
the Welsh Under-18 Semi-Pro squad.
Pike initially took over the reins in February’s friendly with Ireland, where
he made a winning start before being offered the post for the next two
years.
“This is great privilege; to manage your country at any level is a fantastic
feeling. I am very passionate about academy football and am looking
forward to working with FAW in the hope that we can improve what is
already a fantastic system and breeding ground for young talent,” said Pike.
“This is a fantastic opportunity for me personally and one of the greatest
achievements I have made in football. When the FAW contacted me last
week, there was no thinking about it, it just sent shivers down my spine
again! I am hopeful that both Jay Catton of Connah’s Quay and Chris
Doran of TNS will also accept the same opportunity, we were a great team
at Bangor and I cannot wait to work them again next season.”
The club would like to congratulate Mark on deservedly being offered the post and wish him every success with
the Welsh Under-18s Semi-Pro squad.
Willcox and Summers enter Hall of Fame
The next inductee into the Welsh premier League Hall of Fame is the
late Tony Willcox, known in Welsh football circles as Mr
Cwmbran.
Willcox managed Cwmbran Town for 11 years from their first match
in the then League of Wales, and led them to the inaugural title in
1992/93 following a titanic battle with Inter Cardiff.
The reward for winning the league was a place as Wales’ first ever
entrants in the European Cup and despite winning the home leg
against Cork City 3-2, the Crows went out on the away goals rule following a 2-1 defeat in Ireland.
As well as the inaugural title, Cwmbran secured third place in 1999 and
2000 as well as giving Barry Town a run for their money in 2001 before
the Crows had to settle for second place.
Under Willcox, Cwmbran also reached two Welsh Cup finals and five
European campaigns, becoming the first Welsh club, and only the second
throughout Europe, to play in all four European competitions.
Tony sadly passed away at the frighteningly young age of 46 in April
2003, having suffered heart problems.
Y nesaf i’w urddo i Oriel Anfarwolion Uwch Gynghrair Cymru yw’r
diweddar, Tony Willcox, sy’n cael ei adnabod yn y byd pêl-droed Cymreig
fel Mr Cwmbran.
Rheolodd Willcox glwb Cwmbran am 11 mlynedd gan arwain y clwb i
bencampwriaeth cyntaf y Gynghrair Genedlaethol ym 1992/93 yn dilyn
brwydr a hanner gydag Inter Caerdydd.
Y wobr am ennill y bencampwriaeth oedd bod y clwb Cymreig cyntaf i
chwarae yng Nghwpan Pencampwyr Ewrop ond er iddyn nhw drechu Cork
City 3-2 yn y cymal cyntaf, colli oedd hanes y Brain wedi colled 2-1 yn yr
ail gymal yn Iwerddon.
Yn ogystal â’r bencampwriaeth, seliodd Cwmbran y trydydd safle ym 1999 a 2000 yn ogystal â brwydro’n ddewr
yn erbyn Y Barri yn 2001 cyn gorfod bodloni ar yr ail safle.
Llwyddodd Willcox i arwain Cwmbarn i rownd derfynol Cwpan Cymru ddwywaith ac i Ewrop ar bump achlysur
gan ddod y cvlwb Cymreig cyntaf, a dim ond yr ail drwy Ewrop, i gystadlu ym mhob un o bedair cystadleuaeth
Uefa.
Bu farw Tony yn frawychus o ifanc ym mis Ebrill 2003 yn 46 mlwydd oed yn dilyn prblemau
gyda’i galon.
Chris Summers, the Welsh Premier League's third all-time top scorer, is the next
inductee to the Hall of Fame
Summers played for Inter Cardiff in the league's first season in 1992 and scored nearly fifty
goals for the club in the league's first two seasons. After playing for Barry Town and Ton
Pentre, Summers spent four productive spells with Cwmbran, winning the Golden Boot in
2000.
He set a record while playing for Cwmbran after scoring in 11 consecutive matches and his
goalscoring total for the club - 84 goals in 128 games - is certainly impressive. Summers
also played and scored in the league for Carmarthen, Haverfordwest and Cardiff Grange
Quins before retiring in 2006.
He scored a total of 177 goals in the Welsh Premier League, which means that only Marc
Lloyd Williams and Rhys Griffiths have scored more goals in the league than Chris Summers.
Chris Summers, sy'n drydydd ar restr prif sgorwyr Uwch Gynghrair Cymru, yw'r nesaf i gael ei dderbyn i Oriel yr
Anfarwolion. Chwaraeodd i Inter Caerdydd yn nhymor cynta'r gynghrair yn 1992 a sgoriodd bron i hanner cant o
goliau i'r clwb dros ddau dymor cynta'r gynghrair.
Ar ôl chwarae i'r Barri a Ton Pentre, treuliodd bedwar cyfnod llewyrchus gyda Chwmbran, gan ennill yr Esgid
Aur yn 2000.
Gosododd record tra'n chwarae i Gwmbran ar ôl sgorio mewn 11 gêm yn olynol, ac mae ei gyfanswm i'r clwb 84 o goliau mewn 128 o gemau - yn dweud cyfrolau am ei safon fel blaenwr.
Bu hefyd yn sgorio i Gaerfyrddin, Hwlffordd a Chwins y Grange yn y gynghrair cyn ymddeol yn 2006.
Sgoriodd 177 o goliau'n Uwch Gynghrair Cymru, sy'n golygu mai dim ond Marc Lloyd Williams a Rhys Griffiths
sydd wedi sgorio mwy na Chris Summers yn y gynghrair.

Paddy calls time on Aber career
Aberystwyth Town stalwart Glyndwr Hughes will play his final Welsh
Premier League game on Tuesday evening when he dons the famous
Aberystwyth Town green for the final time.
Known by all as 'Paddy' the forward, who is in the 100 club for League goals,
will make his final appearance at Bala Town's Maes Tegid in the Seasider's
final game of the campaign.
Aberystwyth Town's Media Director Thomas Crockett spoke with Hughes a
few years ago after he scored his 100th League goal against Cefn Druids and
this is what he had to say at the time...
Rhyl take title and gain WPL status
Rhyl Football Club have been promoted back to
the Welsh Premier League, three years after
their relegation to the Huws Gray Alliance.
Greg Strong's side have led the northern Tier 2
League for the majority of the season and have
remained unbeaten all campaign. The Lilywhites
confirmed their promotion back to the top-flight
on Saturday afternoon following their 0-1 win at
Rhayader Town.
Rhyl were the Welsh Premier League
Champions in 2003/04 season and 2008/09, but
they failed to gain the domestic licence in May
2010 and were subsequently relegated. They
first achieved the domestic licence last season
and followed that up again earlier this month.
Rhyl will be an excellent addition to the League
next season. Belle Vue is an excellent stadium,
they are one of the best supported club's in Wales and their work in the community is also one of the best
programme's in the country. Congratulations to all at the club.
The only other promotion candidate, Haverfordwest County, drew 1-1 at Ton Pentre to move up to fifth place with
five matches remaining.

Caerphilly Castle withdrew from the League and their record expunged
Caernarfon Town Womens FC – 3pts deducted for postponing a fixture without cause
The Last Word
from Gwyn Derfel
Monday was a dark day in the history of the Corbett Sports Welsh Premier League and darker still in the
town of Llanelli as the town’s football club was wound up in the High Court in London.
Throughout the season – due to the hard work and dedication of people at the coalface - I have been
quite hopeful that the club would survive and regroup in preparation for next season. Unfortunately the
High Court decided that Llanelli AFC is no more. I honestly hope that the liquidators find assets which
can be sold which will reimburse creditors – especially players - with some of the money owed to them
and I also cross my fingers in the hope that the good people of Llanelli consider forming a new club so
that the town will in future years have another football club to be proud of.
Kevin Morgan refereed his last WPL game on Saturday as he took charge of Newtown’s victory at the
Deeside Stadium. I must compliment and thank Kevin for his valuable contribution to our League over
the years and wish him all the best in the Welsh Cup Final on May 6th, a fitting end to the career of an
admired and respected official.
I must compliment Gap Connah’s Quay for arranging that both teams applauded Kevin as he entered the
field of play on Saturday and I must also congratulate the Nomads’ under 19 side for winning the WPL
title. The future looks bright.
Tuesday night will see Glyndwr Hughes play his final match for Aberystwyth after 17 years of service
and skill. I’m sure that everyone associated with our League would like to thank ‘Paddy’ for his
contribution and would like to wish him well in the future.
Y Gair Olaf
gan Gwyn Derfel
Roedd ddydd Llun yn ddiwrnod trist yn hanes Uwch Gynghrair Cymru – Corbett Sports wrth i’r Uchel
Lys yn Llundain ddirwyn clwb Llanelli i ben. Er y problemau drwy gydol y tymor – ‘dwi wedi bod yn
eithaf hyderus y byddai’r clwb yn goroesi o ganlyniad i waith diflino unigolion penodol – ond yn
anffodus nid felly y mae hi.
Y gobaith bellach yw y gall rhai o asedau’r clwb gael eu gwerthu fel y gall y bobl sydd ag arian yn
ddyledus iddyn nhw – yn enwedig y chwaraewyr – dderbyn rhywfaint o brês am eu hymroddiad i’r
achos dros y misoedd diwethaf. Y gobaith arall yw y gall pobl tref y Sosban ffurfio clwb newydd sbon
all ddringo yn ôl i fyny’r cynghreiriau yn y dyfdol agos.
Brynhawn Sadwrn dyfarnodd Kevin Morgan ei gêm Gynghrair olaf wrth i’r Drenewydd ymweld ậ
Stadiwm Glannau Dyfrdwy. Mae ei gyfraniad yn werthfawr ac yn cael ei werthfawrogi ac mae’r ffaith
mai ef fydd yn dyfarnu Rownd Derfynol Cwpan Cymru yn arwydd o’i statws a’i barch.
‘Roedd hi’n braf gweld bod Gap Cei Connah wedi trefnu bod y ddau dîm yn cymeradwyo Kevin
Morgan i’r maes ddydd Sadwrn a hoffwn longyfarch tîm dan 19eg y Nomadiaid am ennill
Pencampwriaeth yr Uwch Gynghrair.
Nos Fawrth bydd Glyndwr Hughes yn chwarae ei gêm olaf i Aberystwyth yn Y Bala. Wedi 17 tymor o
chwys, gwaed a doniau, hoffwn ar ran UGC ddiolch iddo am ei gyfraniad gwerthfawr yntau i’n
Cynghrair a dymuno’r gorau iddo yn y dyfodol.
