ETHICS

Wrong and then doing the right thing.

F. RESPONSIBILITY
COMMITMENT
Strong job commitment makes work far
more satisfying. It’s therapeutic, too, an
excellent antidote for stress. It also
empowers you, bringing out your very
best potential, and making you a more
valuable employee.
HONESTY AND INTEGRITY
“When you have integrity, you have nothing to
Fear because you have nothing to hide.”
Zig Ziglar
Three basic guidelines to working with integrity:
Do what’s right.
That means be on time, be polite, and be honest.
Do your best.
Mediocrity is unacceptable when you are capable
of doing better.
Treat others as they want to be treated.
Practice love and understanding.

ATTENDANCE
The number one reason people lose their
jobs today is _______________________.
Basic rules of attendance:
•  Arrive on time-- a little early if possible
•  Return from lunch and break a few minutes early
•  Stay at work until your scheduled work day ends
•  Arrange ahead of time for absences, or contact
your supervisor as soon as possible
•  Don’t have someone else call in for you
Acceptable Reasons to Miss Work
You are dead
Someone in your immediate
family dies
Legal issues—jury duty,
active reserves, jail
You are in the hospital
PUNCTUALITY
What happens when you are not
on time?
DEPENDABILITY
What if your rent or house payment
amount changed every month?
What if your babysitter was sometimes
there and sometimes not?
What if your newspaper was delivered on
a random basis—whenever the delivery
person felt like bringing it by the house?
What if the grocery store sometimes had
bread and sometimes didn’t?
List some things you depend on

RESPONSIBILITY
Employers want employees who take
responsibility for their job
performance, who are self-motivated,
and who are able to acknowledge
mistakes without blaming others.

ACKNOWLEDGE THE ERROR
APOLOGIZE
AVOID MAKING THE SAME MISTAKE

Saying something unkind or embarrassing
behind someone’s back.
Don’t!
