JULY 2006
Q & A WITH DR. KHOSHBIN
Question:
Dr. Khoshbin, what do you find are some of the dangers of today’s way of life? How can one
deal with these dangers?
Dr. Khoshbin:
Modern society has changed the tempo of our lives; that becomes evident with the expansion of cities and the methods of transportation, but also with the way our produce market
functions. Because it takes a long time to grow fruits and vegetables, our produce is often
collected way before its maturity and forced to ripen while already in transport. This is not
natural and therefore the customer usually ends up purchasing produce, which has been
depleted of many valuable vitamins and minerals. Another problem is also the use of pesticides.
The human body needs certain amounts of vitamins and minerals in order to support its proper function. Since it is becoming
more and more difficult to obtain the necessary nutrients from our daily diets, dietary supplements are required.

HORSETAIL
Botanical Name:
Equisetum arvense
throughout parts of Europe, Asia, the
Middle East, and North America.
Common Names:
Scouring rush, shavegrass, bottlebrush,
pewterwort, mare’s tail, horse willow
History:
Use of horsetail goes back to ancient
Greek and Roman medicines when it
was used to stop bleeding, heal ulcers
and wounds. In folk medicine, it was
used for brittle fingernails, loss of hair
and fractures (content of silica and silicic acids explains this as they help
mend broken bones and form collagen,
an important protein found in connective tissue, skin, bone, cartilage, and
ligaments). Additionally, dried stems
were used for metal polishing (hence
the name pewterwort).
Parts Used:
The summer stems (fresh or dried)
Active Components:
The main components are minerals
(e.g. silica and silicic acids; potassium,
magnesium), flavonoids, and alkaloids.
Looks like:
The plant is a perennial with hollow
jointed stems and shoots that resemble
asparagus (spring phase) or a small
pine tree (summer phase).
Where it’s grown:
Horsetail is a non-flowering plant found

bladder stones. It can also be applied

“Quality is never an accident;
it is always the result of an
intelligent effort.”
- John Ruskin (1819-1900)
Dear Reader,
I believe that customers’ satisfaction will
reflect their opinion and their futurefeedback towards our products and
organization. As a quality assurance
specialist at Akuna, I’m glad to see that
people re-purchase our products and
also recommend them to others, this
shows the public is developing a trust in
the benefits and quality of our products.
Customers’ trust is hard to achieve and
now that Akuna has gained the trust, it
has a priceless value. Everyday we
nourish this value by measuring our
customers’ expectations and improving
our production activities. I think
improvement is a never-ending process
and we can achieve high quality only by
considering people’s perspectives about
our products and services. Let me mention an example: Sir Henry Royce, creator of the Rolls-Royce motorcar,
whose name has become recognizable
with quality, laid down the primary prin-

ciples of customer satisfaction for his
company in 1906 when he stated, “Our
interest in the Rolls-Royce cars does
not end at the moment when owner
pays for, and takes delivery of the car.
Our interest in the car never wanes.
Our ambition is that every purchaser of
a Rolls-Royce car shall continue to be
more than satisfied”.
As you know Akuna is a customerfocused organization. Our intention is to
manufacture and provide high quality
natural health products; we depend on
our customers’ feedback and we strive
py for poorly healing burns and
wounds.
to exceed their expectations.
At Akuna Health Products our dedicated
team of professionals manufacture
Akuna’s products under a restricted
quality control system which is registered to ISO 9001: 2000. Most of the
international standards begin with the
letters “ISO”, the short form for the
“International Organization for
Standardization.” This worldwide federation of 110 national standards bodies
works to promote the growth of manufacturing, trade and communication
among business operations worldwide,
through the development of general
quality standards.
As a family member of Akuna, I have
the utmost confidence in our products’
safety & quality. Akuna around the
world shares one goal and that is to put
our customer first, and I’m positive that
our quality control system helps us
implement our objectives.
Wishing you health and success,
Iman Navab, Q.A.

TRIUMPHS
The weekend was all
about motivation,
leadership and successful
business building.
On Friday, June 16th and Saturday,
June 17th Akuna organized an intense
two-day training session led by special
guest speaker Jiri Zhor. The training
took place at the Akuna Mississauga
offices and was attended by Distributors
from all across North America.
full days gaining new tools that will
enable them to grow and expand their
personal business ventures.
The response to the training was
extremely positive and there was a definite interest expressed by all the participants to continue these workshops in
the future.
***
On Tuesday, June the 20th, Mr. Zhor
did a presentation for many of the local
Distributors on how to stay motivated
and on how to motivate others. He
stressed the importance of recognizing
peoples’ differences as well as their
similarities. In short, a successful leader
understands that what may be a motivating factor for one individual may not
be the same for another.

Jiri Zhor presents to Akuna Distributors
Mr. Zhor, who has extensive experience
in the field of corporate training, spoke
on various topics of interest but focused
mainly on motivation and even more
specifically individual motivation. The
participants of the workshop spent two
The workshop also presented an opportunity for many Distributors, who are
active in different parts of North
America to get together and discuss the
various experiences they have had with
Akuna. We had a chance to sit down
with RND Ludmila Marciniak from
Winnipeg, RND Anna Janowska from
New York and RND Maciej Glodek from
San Francisco and discuss their initial
encounters with Akuna and the chal-

lenges they faced building their
Organizations.
Although they all reside thousands of
miles away from each other, they had
many similar observations, after all, the
need for a quality life is the same all
across the globe. When asked how
they and their partners compensate for
not having an Akuna office in their
hometown, they all agreed that it just
makes them all work much more closely together and meet more frequently.
We agree: there is nothing more effective than true partner support to keep
everyone motivated!
TRIUMPHS
TOP TEN TEAM 2006
The Top Ten Team 2006 is
here… it’s new, improved
and better than ever!
Here are some facts:
What is the Top Ten Team?
This is an outstanding achievement and
a very prestigious award.
The perks: the Top Ten Team members
are commemorated with an AKUNA
TTT plaque and their names are added
to the AKUNA Hall of Fame forever;
their success is also internationally recognized and celebrated; last but not
least, their efforts are rewarded with a
very special prize.
Who participates?
Every country has its own Top Ten
Team standing and every Akuna distributor has the opportunity to become part
of the Top Ten Team.
How is the Top Ten Team 2006
determined?
There are two main components or
“standings”: the Activity Standing and
the Growth Standing.
The Top Five Distributors from each
standing make up the Top Ten Team.
Each standing is evaluated according to
different criteria.
Activity Standing
This is determined by the
monthly activity of a
Distributor’s Organization.
Ask about AutoShip
Save Time and Money
Convenient
Growth Standing
This measures the performance
or growth of a Distributor’s
Organization over the past
months.
Results
The results will be posted every month
on the Akuna website and in Akuna
Triumphs Monthly until the end of
December 2006 when the Top Ten
Team will be announced. For both the
Activity and the Growth Standing the
top ten positions will be posted but only
the top five are the finalists.
Please see next page for May results
and good luck to all!
