Along with the Feast of All Saints developed the Feast of All Souls. The Church has consistently encouraged the offering of prayers and the holy Mass for the souls of the faithful departed in Purgatory. At the time of their death, these souls are not perfectly cleansed of venial sin or have not atoned for past transgressions, and thereby are deprived of the Beatific Vision (see God face to face) through their prayers, good works and the offering of Holy Mass. From the Catechism of the Catholic church 1030 All who die in God's grace and friendship, but still imperfectly purified, are indeed assured of their eternal salvation; but after death they undergo purification, so as to achieve the holiness necessary to enter the joy of heaven. “Everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him, may have eternal life” JN 6:37-40 “Todo el que vea al Hijo y crea en El, tendrá vida eterna” Jn, 6,37-40 FIELES DIFUNTOS Domingo: Sab 3: 1-9 / Rom 5: 5-11 / Jn 6: 37-40 Lunes: Fil 2: 1-4 / Lc 14: 12-14 Martes: Fil 2: 5-11 / Lc 14: 15-24 Miércoles: Fil 2: 12-18 / Lc 14: 25-33 Jueves: Fil 3: 3-8a / Lc 15: 1-10 Viernes: Fil 3: 17-4:1 / Lc 16: 1-8 Did you know? Many families make it a tradition on All Saints’ Day to gather at a local cemetery and decorate the graves with flowers or wreaths in anticipation of All Souls’ Day, which occurs on November 2. Catholics in many countries honor and pray for the departed souls who may have no one to pray for them. ¿Saba usted que?
