Werzalit Table Top Care & Cleaning
If you are planning an outdoor setting using table tops from Werzalit of America, Inc., We recommend
using light to mid color range decors as these will not absorb heat like darker colors do. Werzalit table
tops do not show scratches and marks easily, which means they wear best. The UV rays can break down
the resin over years of exposure.
Werzalit is a patented manufacturing process, developed by Werzalit AG & Co. of Germany. Our process
combines wood, resins and melamine to produce a unique high tech composite. Werzalit produces
tabletops, building products and other specialty items that must withstand the extremes of moisture,
weather and surface abrasion
Werzalit core material is designed to resist Immersion in water- even boiling water - wet conditions that
would cause ordinary particle board to quickly disintegrate. Also, Werzalit is molded with a fused thermo
set surface that resists stains, scratches and harsh use.
Werzalit tabletop surfaces are Melamine, one of the world's toughest plastics. Melamine is so scratch
resistant that it is used in dinnerware, ashtrays and other products that must stand up to hard use and
repeated scrubbing. Melamine is so hard and non-porous that even dried paint can be removed easily. It
is resistant to graffiti, cigarette burns, bird droppings and all types of food stains. The surface will not
harbor bacteria or mildew. Stubborn stains can be removed with household cleaners and light rubbing
with 0000 steel wool.
Werzalit of America, Inc. recommends that the tops be wiped regularly with a damp cloth and alcohol
based solvent or soapy water and a damp cloth. Do not use any abrasive cleaners or detergents. Do not
stack tables on top of each other as this may cause scratches. Table tops with dark decors should not be
exposed to direct sunlight at any time.

What is a Werzalit table top? Werzalit is a patented manufacturing process, developed by Werzalit Germany. Our process combines wood, resins and melamine to produce a unique high tech composite. Werzalit produces tabletops, building products and other specialty items that must withstand the extremes of moisture, heat, cold weather and surface abrasions. Isn’t Werzalit just particle board? Absolutely Not! Werzalit core material is designed to resist immersion in water‐ even boiling water – wet conditions that would cause ordinary particle board to quickly disintegrate. Also, Werzalit is molded with a fused thermo set surface that resists stains, scratches and harsh use. Is my Werzalit table top supposed to be crowned? Yes. Werzalit crowns its tables on purpose for various reasons. Depending on many different variables such as climate, environment, décor selection, use etc, etc, etc, your table could move or bend. Werzalit takes into consideration these variables therefore manufacturing the table top with this crown. When the table top is placed into direct sun light for long periods of time or is exposed to a hot and humid climate, the table could tend to bend upward. Without this crown your table top would become a “bird bath” or “bowl”. Another reason Werzalit crowns its tops is so that rain water or spillage doesn’t nest in the center of your table top. How much of a crown should I see in my Werzalit table top? In most cases you will see 1/4 to 3/8 inch crown from center of table to the edge. However, depending on environmental and climate conditions you could see up to a 1/2 inch crown from center to edge. Can I get any décor I wish put on my Werzalit table top? Yes, as long as specifications are met. Werzalit offers three different technologies making it possible to give the customer any décor of their liking. (Please contact us today to discuss specifications.) I have a digital file that I would like on my table top. What are your specifications for digital files? Werzalit of America, Inc. will accept the following file types. .jpg, .tif, .pdf. Please create your designs at a size of at least 20X20 inches and 300 dpi. How can I attach my table base to my table top? Werzalit of America, Inc. offers screw packs or inserting for customers. Werzalit of America, Inc. will insert tables if required for any orders over 50 tables. Please be sure to specify at the time of the sale with your sales rep. if screw packs or inserting are necessary. If inserting is necessary please provide a CAD drawing. 20
What can I clean my Werzalit table top with? Werzalit recommends using a soft cleaner. Hard cleaners are not recommended. Hard cleaners would constitute any cleaners with high concentrations of bleach or ammonia. Soft cleaners would reference cleaners containing sodium carbonate and/or trisodium phosphate mixed with water. Regular household furniture polish can be applied after cleaning. 21
