Tuesday,June 12, 2007 Lynda is Starlight’s Number one woman More than 2,200 ladies take part in St Rocco’s charity walk has been nursing in the Warrington St Rocco’s Hospice. IT’S just three days until the biggest Lynda has seen first hand how the money ladies’ fundraising event in Warrington – community for morer than 25 years. Lynda was encouraged to participate in the raised, benefits patients at the hospice. the St Rocco’s Hospice Starlight Walk. Registration for the walk opened in January 2007 and first in the queue to register was St Rocco’s Staff Nurse Lynda Shaw. Lynda will be wearing her number one shirt with pride on Friday as she takes part in the Starlight Ladies’ Walk to help raise money for patients and families at St Rocco’s. She described it as luck to be picked as the number one walker this year. She said: “I registered in January just two weeks after registration opened. I just can’t believe I was the first!” A nurse at St Rocco’s for four years, Lynda Starlight Walk by one of the patients she cares for at the hospice. Lynda said: “As nurses, we are always constantly inspired by the courage and dignity of our patients. “There’s a whole group of nurses from St Rocco’s walking this year. “We see it as our chance to give something back to the community.” This year the Starlight Walk promises to be bigger and better than ever. CLAIRE Manock, St Rocco’s Hospice fundraising manager has some pertinent advice for the participants in the Starlight Walk to ensure everything runs smoothly. Claire said: “This year is going to be the biggest year yet for the Starlight Ladies Walk with more than 2,200 ladies registered. “Thank you all for taking part and supporting St Rocco’s Hospice. We are delighted with the wonderful response. “Here is some important information to help the night go smoothly.” Parking There will be limited parking at Victoria Park. The car park will be open at 10pm and will close at 11.45pm prompt. As parking is limited, please ‘buddy-up’ and car share wherever possible. There will be a drop off area inside Victoria Park. You will be directed to the drop-off spot by marshals and police. If you drop off any walkers, you will be directed out of the park via the Weir Lane exit. organised how you are getting home before you come on the night. Are you a resident on the route?
