Brethren: Such confidence we have through Christ towards God. Not that we are sufficient to think anything

At that time, Jesus said to His disciples: Blessed are
the eyes that see the things which you see. For I say
to you, that many prophets and kings have desired to
see the things that you see, and have not seen
them; and to hear the things that you hear, and have not
heard them. And behold a certain lawyer stood up, tempting Him, and saying: Master, what must I do to possess
eternal life? But He said to him: What is written in the law?
how readest thou? He answering, said: Thou shalt love the
Lord thy God with thy whole heart, and with thy whole
soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and
thy neighbour as thyself. And He said to him: Thou hast
answered rightly: this do, and thou shalt live. But he, willing to justify himself, said to Jesus: And who is my
neighbour? And Jesus answering, said: A certain man went
down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among robbers,
who also stripped him, and having wounded him went
away, leaving him half dead: and it chanced that a certain
priest went down the same way, and seeing him, passed
by. In like manner also a Levite, when he was near the
place and saw him, passed by. But a certain Samaritan
being on his journey, came near him, and seeing him, was
moved with compassion, and going up to him, bound up
his wounds, pouring in oil and wine; and setting him upon
his own beast, brought him to an inn, and took care of

 Updated Daily Mass Schedule
for Upcoming Week in August:
There will be a 6:30am Mass and a
12:00Noon Mass on Monday, August
15 for the Feast of the Assumption.
Also note that from Tuesday, August
16 through Saturday, August 20 inclusive, there will be
the 6:30am Mass only.
 Improving Parish Security: Starting today, we
have hired off-duty police officers to help with security
on Sunday mornings. It is hoped that the standing
presence of these officers of the law will further deter
potential trespassers and malefactors and will contribute to parishioners peace of mind. You might be surprised to see a police officer out front, but please do
not be alarmed by their conspicuous presence on our
parish grounds when you first see them. We consulted
with another pastor, who was very happy with such an
arrangement. The Pastoral and Financial Councils also
thought it would help alleviate some of the fear and
safety concerns that parishioners might have. We do
not expect any troublesome incidents, perhaps an occasional panhandlers or homeless person might need
directions on where to go.
 Congregational Singing: All hymn/page numbers
are posted on the hymn board to the left of the Communion rail. At High Mass, the unaccompanied parts of
the Kyrie, Gloria, Credo, and Agnus Dei are to be sung
by the schola alone. Information about the parish
choirs can be found on the table in the vestibule.
 Pro-Life Rosary: Fr. Remski and Fr. Passo would
like to continue the steadfast practice of praying outside the abortion clinic, now on Tuesday and Thursday
mornings. Please join us if you are able to attend. The
Rosary will be from 9am-10am, Tuesdays, at the Glendale Planned Parenthood site located at 5771 W. Eugie;
and from 8am-9am, Thursdays, at Family Planning Associates located at 700 E. Willeta in Phoenix.

 Seeking Installation Professional for Media Set
-up: We are seeking someone with technical knowledge and abilities needed to install a flat screen television and speakers in the hall for live feed of Mass for
parents and children. If you can help with this project,
please contact the pastor.
 Knights of Columbus Council 15576 Business
Meeting: Our monthly business meeting will be Saturday, August 13 at 5:30 p.m. All members are encouraged to attend and find out about opportunities to get
involved with our council's activities.
 Men's BBQ and Social Night: All men of the parish
are invited to to a barbecue and social night on Saturday, August 13 at 7:00 p.m. Please bring meat to grill,
a side dish to share, and beverages.
 Knights at the Ballpark: All parishioners and their
families are invited to join us in sharing an evening of
fun at Chase Field as the Diamondbacks take on the
Dodgers on Saturday, September 17, at 5:40 p.m.
Tickets are available for $19. For each ticket sold, $2
are donated to our local Knights of Columbus council,
and $4 benefit the Special Olympics.

for a family to represent Mater Misericordiae Mission in
the ARC Procession October 23 at 2:00pm. Please notify either Joe Bright or Richard Haefer if you and your

Imitate Our Lady's Compassion
What is the basic lesson for all of us? On Calvary, Mary
gave us the example of what it means to co-operate
with Jesus to the end, notice from beginning to end.
She just had to be on Calvary. She had to be there!
And indeed except for her, her Son would not have
been there. Following Mary's example in co-operating
with Christ, means many things. But it's not for nothing
that the five decades of the Rosary that we are now
completing are called the Sorrowful Mysteries of the
Rosary. Imitating Our Lady in her union with her Divine
Son, I repeat, means a myriad of things; but it means
above all to unite our sufferings with His, but my
friends; let's do some suffering! All right? All right!
What kind of a dream world can we be living in? How
drugged we, otherwise, sane people can be. Today, the
Mystical Body of Christ which is the Church; which is
Christ the Head and we the members, is undergoing
widespread opposition, persecution. One of my favorite
reflections as I come to the Twelfth Station of the
Cross is reflecting on the crucifixion of the Church today. And my now twenty-one years working for the
Holy See has only made me far more conscious and
sensitive and aware on the depth of agony to which the
Mystical Body of Christ is exposed in the modern world.
Mary united herself with the dying, physical Jesus
Christ. If we are to imitate Our Lady, let's make sure
we acquire something of her Compassion for the sufferings of Christ today in a world that hates Him no
less, if anything more, than it ever did when it nailed
Him to the Cross.

at Holy Apostles Seminary in Cromwell, CT. Pray also
for Sr. Mary Thomas O.Praem of the California Norbertines. Pray also for those who are still discerning their
vocation.

I would like to close again with another prayer from my
favorite, St. Alphonsus of Liguori. O most Sorrowful of
all mothers, your Son is now dead. That Son so loving
who loved you so much. Weep, for you have reason to
weep. Who can ever bring you any consolation? Only
this thought can console you: that by His death Jesus
conquered Hell, opened Heaven and gained so many
souls. From the Throne of the Cross, He will reign in
millions of hearts. Conquered by His Love, they will
serve Him with love. Do not hesitate in the meantime,
O my Mother to keep me near you so that I may weep
with you. I have good reason to shed bitter tears for
the many crimes I have committed against my Saviour.
O Mother of Mercy I hope first, through the death of
my Redeemer and, then, through your Sorrows to obtain forgiveness and eternal salvation. Amen. In the
Name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy
Spirit. Amen.
