Colours of Corian® - CD (UK) LTD Fabrication Guidelines
Fabrication of all colours: Before jointing, Corian® edges should be cleaned with industrial methylated spirits applied with clean white rags or strong white tissue.

Fabrication:
1. Clean edges 2 or 3 times prior to glueing any solid colours.
2. Extra care should be taken when thermoforming those colours marked with a (T) as they may show whitening - contact CD (UK) Technical for more information.
3. Some solid colours marked with an (S) require extra time for sanding and finishing to get a suitable finish.
Fabrication:

Abrasive 120 grit

Lightly spray the Corian® top and the Abralon
pad with clean water. Sand the worktop damp
with the Abralon pad and clean the top with a
damp microfibre cloth.

Illumination Series

Fabrication:
1. Because of the extra translucency of this Series, with certain lighting you will be able see through the Corian®. Thought therefore should be given to supporting the sheet - especially under any joints, clear perspex can be used for support.
2. Extra care should be taken when thermoforming those colours marked with a (T) as they may show whitening - contact CD (UK) Technical for more information.
3. Crystal clear silicone should be used to bond the Illumination Series to any support backing.

Clean top with damp microfibre cloth.
BURLED BEACH (T) (R) (SG)
Fabrication:
1. Always show a customer an A4 sized sample before purchasing any of these colours.
2. Any downturns should be rebated in by at least 6mm.
3. Coved upstands are likely to show some element of the jointing - it is recommended to show the customer an example of a coved upstand in the chosen colour before fabricating.
4. Due to the natural veining in these colours it is likely that some part of any joint will be visible. We recommend offsetting the joint away from any corner to minimise this effect.
5. Extra care should be taken when thermoforming those colours marked with a (T) as they may show whitening - contact CD (UK) Technical for more information.
6. Extra care should be taken when jointing sheet to make island tops. Extra sheet may be needed.
NB. In certain circumstances where light will
reflect more onto the Corian® (e.g. islands,
worktops directly under windows), these colours
will need to be finished as per semi gloss finish.
Metallix and Lustra
Key:
(S) - extra time for sanding and finishing may
be required.
(T) - thermoforming may show whitening.
(R) - extra care required for downturns and
coved upstands.

Fabrication:
1. Metallix colours MUST NOT be used for kitchen worktops as the directional properties of the metallic flakes make it extremely difficult to fabricate downturns and coved upstands successfully.
2. DuPont™ have released a Technical Bulletin on fabricating these colours. Please contact CD (UK) for a copy or download it from our website at www.cdukltd.co.uk.
