Foreword
InterTradeIreland is delighted to present this latest update
to the FUSION Partnership Guide, which we hope you will
be able to use to expand your network of contacts.
FUSION is InterTradeIreland’s all-island programme which
enables knowledge and technology transfer between
business and academia to support innovation and
increase capability. FUSION develops and facilitates threeway cross-border partnerships and projects between
companies, graduates and third level institutions.
You will see that 130 well established partnerships are
included representing a diverse range of innovative
businesses, academic expertise and talented graduates.
Since the first FUSION programme was launched in 2001
almost 300 partnerships have been developed through the
programme. Companies have typically received support
to develop new and innovative products, improve existing
products, streamline production processes, improve
environmental performance, enhance design capabilities
and/or to develop and implement IT solutions.
These projects have delivered real bottom line benefits for
the FUSION companies with over £100 million of sales
revenue and efficiency savings reported. These benefits
will increase significantly as projects complete and realise
their full potential over the years to come.
The programme continues to attract some of the brightest
young minds across the island and such is the impact on
the companies where they work, over 63% of graduates
are offered and accept a permanent position beyond their
project.
We congratulate those involved with the FUSION
initiative and look forward to continuing to work with our
established partners as well as building relationships with
new partners. Please use this guide to make some new
contacts of your own.
